Do boxed diapers count as a checked bag?

I saw online that you are allowed two checked suitcases per person on DCL. Would a sealed box of diapers count toward this limit?

Thanks!

I Googled whether you could check a cardboard box and got this:

So you should probably poke around your individual airline's website to confirm, but I don't see why not.

On the cruise, you will have 2 luggage tags per passenger for checked luggage, and each passenger is also allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item (such as a diaper bag, purse, or backpack). I don’t know what happens if you exceed 4 items per person, but since porters at the cruise terminal have additional luggage tags, I do not think anyone actually counts bags.

Airlines are different. They typically have the same limits (or may allow only 1 checked bag without a fee) and they do pay attention and will charge for excessive bags. Strollers do not count toward the limit on most airlines, but I don’t know if boxes would — my guess is yes, because the check-in clerk won’t know what’s in a sealed box. As mentioned above, check with your airline.

DCL doesn't really count how many checked bags. Just make sure it's tagged. If you don't have an extra luggage tag for it you can get one from the porters when you arrive.

I'm sure there is an official limit but I'm not sure they've ever counted though, of course, they always could. The main thing is that you have a limited amount of storage space in your cabin and your cabin is smaller than most hotel rooms (some ships have better/more storage space than others but it's pretty good). So you want to limit your baggage for that reason more than anything. Now that they've changed the beds, it's easy to store empty luggage under the bed. In the early days, you also had to fit all of your bags into the closet or in the corner so you had to be even more careful about the amount of luggage you brought.

So if you tag a bag of diapers as luggage, you're not going to be penalized for that and have to reduce the rest of your luggage but you honestly need a lot less than you think you do on a cruise.
