I know there are different stamps and am wondering if perhaps the border of the GAC is different to enable CM's at attractions to know the type of disability they are dealing with without having to question the GAC holder.

For instance, the GAC I was given during my last trip had a broken red & white border. I just assumed the CM would know why I needed to skip the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion based on my GAC w/a stamp and he didn't. He wanted me to explain to him why I needed to board through the exit in front of a zillion people.

I'm just curious if anything other than the stamp on the GAC identifies a range (ie. mental vs physical) of disabilities to help the CMs.

thanks! :confused3 ;)

At Disneyland in Anaheim it is just the stamps that are differant....When I was in Florida once they gave me a differant pass because it did not accomidate our needs and the color did change but this was 6 years ago.

Although they do have stamps for differant accomidations there are times we still need to talk to a cast member about our needs or even a lead if the cast member does not accomidate us. It is a general stamp for each need and they normally just have a general accomidation and if you have spacific needs you may need to express them to be accomidated beter.

I believe the cards are all the same color and it is just the stamp that is different.

As far as I know, the stamps just identify the accomidation needed - there isn't anything about the cards or the stamps that identify whether the stamp is being used for physical or mental health related needs. The card would not have anything on it that would indicate why (or even that) you wanted to miss the stretching room.
I think for Haunted Mansion, they are especially careful to make sure you actually want to miss the stretching room because by boarding at the exit, you do miss a big part of the attraction. Some people don't realize that and might be disappointed after the ride to find that they missed it.

As JenJen mentioned, the stamp is sort of general and sometimes needs some additional explanation.

Thanks for the quick responses! I was only asked once "why" and I was hoping that the GACs might be color coded - as well as the stamp. Oh well - good to know so I'll have a prepared response the next time and won't get so flustered and upset.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

The GAC for DQ is a different color (purply) not sure about the Water Parks

Purple, too?? Cool! We don't go to DQ - too much noise, crowds, and motion sickness kicks in on those virtual experiences. I don't do water parks, either - I'm afraid of the water. No mice boats for me! I'm happy sitting on a bench in downtown Disney while dh & the girls do the mice boats. My little angel (dd14) always stays with me to keep me company. :goodvibes

We have always had a beige card for the parks up until summer of 05- are the cards color coded now? my DS has multiple health issues and I want to make sure that we get the correct "coloring" if that is the case now??- I didn't know that there was a card for DQ or the water parks- we don't need one for DQ but the water parks have been avoided because of the wait times for rides- where do we get info for a water park pass? TIA :sunny:

I would not worry about the color. Asking for a particular card may not give you the one that best meets your needs. Besides that, in the past, they have changed the cards periodically and you might end up asking for something that doesn't exist. Or, they might use color for something we know nothing about - like different colors for different months or something.
Just be able to explain your child's needs and you should get the correct card to meet those needs. If, after using it, you find it doesn't fit the needs, you can always go back to Guest Services and explain why it doesn't work for you.

The water parks have their own Guest Assistance Card program. From what I have heard about it, they don't use the same cards as the parks because they want to make sure that people stop in Guest Relations and get ride information so that they understand what is safe for them to ride.

I don't know much about DQ because we have never been there (can you tell I have girls who are not interested in things like that). I have read that people have gotten a card to allow a stroller to be used as a wheelchair there.

Thanks for the info Sue :goodvibes !

I guess I'm always afraid that the cards will eventually be done away with so changes "worry" me- without them we couldn't go to the parks at all. Come to think about it- we have been vacationing in June for years so maybe beige is June's color! We'll see what happens this September- :surfweb:
