Do 5 year olds love T-Rex?

I have read the mediocre reviews of the food at T-Rex, and I understand that the restaurant is noisy. My questions is: Did your kids enjoy it? DD5 likes dinosaurs, so I am sure she would like the theming. But is it impressive or memorable (for a 5 year old)? I am trying to decide whether or not to try and work it into our upcoming trip. Thanks!

My DDs both love T-Rex. We think the food is really good - it's just a matter of opinion I guess.

It is loud in there, and geared more toward children than adults. The restaurant has fast service and holds a lot of guests. It's absolutely worth a try. Be aware that they don't take ADRs through Disney Dining - you have to call them directly to make a reservation (highly recommended). Their number is (407) 828-8739

My boys totally loved it!! They were 6 and 3 when we ate there. They keep asking to go back. And we thought the food was pretty good. I liked it better than Rainforest cafe. And my boys loved building dinos after dinner!!

A 5-year-old who likes dinos will love T-Rex. Try to get seated in the Ice Cave!

The food's not outstanding, but it's about what you'd expect from a Rainforest Cafe type of venue. The gift shop has geodes that you select to be halved open in a special machine that your child gets to crank. My boys loved that! :cool2:

Glad to hear your DDs enjoyed it! Thanks for the tip about the ADRs. The WDW website appears to take online reservations, but I haven't been able to find one. I hadn't thought about calling the restaurant directly - I'll try that! With this late planning I assume we will have to walk-up and take our chances...another reason I am trying to determine if it is worth our time.

I am going to have to do a little more research...I don't know anything about building dinosaurs or the Ice Cave! :) But glad to hear that the kids love it. We have done most of the WDW character meals and thought this might be a fun surprise (if we can get in!).

My then-five-year-old is still talking about it a year later. Huge hit with him.

You do not have to call T-Rex directly. I just made an online ADR a few days ago. Not sure if this is the way it used to be, but I keep seeing people mentioning this and it's incorrect. You can definitely make online ADRs for T-Rex and whether you call or book online, it's the exact same system, so if people are having difficulty, then perhaps the restaurant is full?

HTH, Tiger :)

My DD's loved T-Rex last year when we went. It was noisy and the kids food was typical kids menu. (youngest DD got macaroni and it was Kraft but she loves Kraft mac and cheese) It is a good experience for any kid that is not afraid of loud places. When we went you still had to call T-rex for ADR's, glad to see it is in the online system now.:thumbsup2

I've been twice and have not had trouble just walking in and getting seated. Once I went around 5:30 or 6:00, and the other time it was between 7:00 and 8:00. That time I was suprised there wasn't a huge wait. In both cases we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated. I would keep trying for the reservation, but I wouldn't let not getting one keep you from going. Your DD will love it!

I agree... the food was just so-so for us, I really didn't think the quality matched the price. It was more about the theming for us since DS loves dinosaurs.

Consider maybe grabbing a bite to eat at one of the CS places in DTD and grabbing a dessert at T-Rex. That's what we are planning to do during our off evening next September because DH is insisting that we go back. I told him we'd probably eat at Earl of Sandwich and use our DP credits then we could pop in T-Rex for dessert. At least that's something we all can share, it won't cost us a lot OOP, and we'll still get to go in and sit down for a bit.
