I know that DME picks you up 3 hours before the departure time for your flight.

We will be using DME to MCO to pick up our rental car only. I did call and talk to a CM about this a few weeks ago, and she assured me it would be fine to do. We will just take our luggage on the bus with us instead of using any tags.

I am curious of how much time I will need to plan to get from ASMu to MCO via DME. The last day of the Disney part of the trip will be our DHS day, I am trying to plan FP+ times before my window opens up next week and want to make sure we won't get to the rental counter late.

Our car is due to be picked up at 6 pm on a Wednesday, I planned to arrive back at ASMu to board DME around 4:30. Will this give me enough time?

Thank you!

First, you need to schedule your return trip on DME. You can't just show up and get on a bus.

The bus ride will take 30 minutes to an hour depending on whether you're the first, middle, or last resort to be picked up. Let DME know you're not catching a flight, just picking up a car and you need to be at MCO around 6. They'll probably schedule you for a 5pm pickup.

That being said, have you looked at the various onsite & (barely) off site rental locations. National/Alamo is at the Car Care Center, and the Swan (I think). Hertz and others are across the street from DTD.

Oh yes, I am aware that I will need to schedule a departure time at the resort. No worries on that front.

I have checked the onsite llcations, but we won't be returning the car onsite. We will be driving our of Orlando and need to return at MCO. So that doesn't work for us.

I am checking rentals as close to disney as I can get, but the price doesn't come close to what I have reserved for at the airport. I do continue to check rates at various places.

Thanks for the pick up time estimate that does help me!

You can call DME and tell them when you need to be back at the airport to get your rental car. Three hours isn't needed since you aren't flying. I would figure on getting on a bus about an hour before you need to get the rental. That way, if the bus makes multiple stops, and they do, it's just a question of how many after you get on, or there is traffic, or some other delay, you should be fine. The ride to MCO is only about 30 mins.

We are allowing an hour and a half...we will schedule a 7:15 am Magical Express pick up time at our resort for an 8:45 am car rental pickup time at the airport. That time frame was the suggestion of the customer service rep at DME. I have not scheduled it yet because it was too early to do so. She said I can make it two weeks prior to arrival or upon arrival at our resort. She said availability would not be an issue. :goodvibes

Its worth checking out what it would cost to pick up at the onsite locations and drop off at MCO. I did that once before with no extra fee, and another time it would have increased my price from $200 to $600. You never know.

I have been checking with different companies to do this. But, it's adding up to 400 to my rental. I keep trying though!
