DME question

One question about DME.....

In my reservation papers they have a voucher that says :
Disney ME transfer. It however says 001 Adult.

We are a family of four, do they only have the first person on this voucher and is this the voucher I give to the ME person when we get to the Orlando airport?

Also, We have the yellow tags. I understand these are for our luggage to go to the resorts. However, do we use all of these if we have that much luggage. Does it matter if I use the tags with my DD name on it? Not sure why they have the names on them.

Also, There are vouchers in the back of the book. I think these are the return vouchers to give to the bus driver on our return to MCO at the end of our trip. Right?

On check out day how do we handle our bags? Do we bring them with us as we prepare to leave? Our bags will stay with us at this point right and then we check them into our airline?

1) The DME is set up for all your party. Only the lead passanger's name will appear on them. Once in Orlando, proceed to the DME check-in area na they will help from there.

2) Place the yellow tags on any luggage that belongs to your travel party

3) Those are the return vouchers.

4) THe resorts have a DME location where you will take the bags upon check-out.

Actually, on departure, your bags are your responsiblity. They have an airline check-in desk if you want to check your bags at the resort instead of the Airport, but it is your responsibility to get them there, whether you use a bellhop of take them yourself. If you choose not to use the airline check-in, you can have the resort store the bags, then take them on the bus back to the airport with you.

Just to clarify, the DME Remote Airline Check-in desk is only for participating airlines (American, Continental, Delta/Song, JetBlue, United/Ted). If you're not on a Remote Airline Check-in airline, then just take your bags to the DME motorcoach. The driver will load them into the belly of motorcoach; you'll get them back at the airport.

Disney takes care of the inbound baggage handling gratuities if you use DME as designed. The bags will show up in your room a few hours after you check in, and you don't have to be there.

If you want baggage assistance at check-out, it is customary to tip the bellman. If you check your bags with the bell desk because of a time lag between your check-out and your scheduled DME pickup, it is customary to tip when you retrieve your bags. Also, if the DME driver handles your bags, a tip is customary.

Parkman: thanks for that information, however we are flying Southwest so I won't be able to use that feature of checking in luggage.

OH Yeah, will the DME take you to departures for your airline. In other words are they dropping you off in one location and then it is up to us to lug our luggage to the Southwest Terminal? Or will they ask for everyone at Southwest, Delta, etc.. and then drop people off accordingly.

This isn't accurate, at least as of when DME started. We had 4 people in our party, got 8 DME tags. Each tag had TWO names on it, listed one above the other. My name was on all 8 tags; the reservation was in my name. My 2 tags had my name listed twice. My wife's 2 tags had my name above her name, my son's 2 tags had my name above his name, etc.

I'm just guessing they do this so that if there's any problem with room changes, mix-ups, etc., they can help match the luggage to its owner by contacting the person with the reservation (even though the ressie number is on the tags, too).

The bus will make two stops...one for Side A in the terminal and then for Side B. Everyone gets off at one of those two stops. That's the only downside to DME.

The motorcoaches operate on Level 1. Baggage claim is one level higher on Level 2. The airline counters and the security checkpoints and transit for gate access are on Level 3.

There are elevators and escalators, so it's not difficult to move between levels (although the elevators sometimes have lines).

The DME drop-off spots are near the centers of Terminal A (side A) and Terminal B (side B). For anyone who has already checked their bags and obtained their boarding pass at their resort's Remote Airline Check-in desk, it's easiest to get off at the first stop and to go up two levels to Security, regardless of whether their airline's counter is on side A or side B. But if you need to go to the airline counter, it's best to get off on the correct side.
