So I am planning on surprising my family during their trip the end of September and I was wondering if I could take DME to and from the resort they are staying in if I am not on their reservation?

As anyone done this before? :confused3

Not if you aren't listed as a guest on their reservation, or if you don't have your own reservation.

Are you staying at their resort on a different reservation? DME will transport you to your Disney resort and you'll need to have a reservation in advance. Some people have reported being able to take a DME bus to a different resort, but that is not the norm (and it's always "a friend of a friend" it seems).

ME is a free service for paying guests only. It is a perk provided by Disney to keep guests from renting cars or taking alternative transportation to other attractions around Orlando. You will be asked to produce a voucher to get on the bus.

You can go to the Mears counter near ME and purchase a transfer to the resort and you will be placed on a Mears bus headed to that destination. You may, from time to time, end up on a Mears bus headed to that resort if needed for extra transportation at busy times. But that is beyond your control.

What you are asking is not Disney policy.

From time to time, Mears buses will be used as ME buses since Mears is the contracted bus service.

they have 2 seperate rooms with double beds in each so I was planning to stay in my moms room for the 2 nights I am there. I have the AP so I don't need park tickets. I can't add myself to their reservation cause they will see it and the surprise would be ruined. If worse comes to worse I will take a car service or a taxi to their hotel and leave my bags will bell services. I planned on surprising them at their breakfast reservation that morning

You have to be listed on the reservation in order to use ME.

Once there (and after your surprise) you should be able to be added to your mom's room which can give you a ride back.

Perhaps he could take a taxi? You can stay at the pool, and he will (should) get there quicker? You both get your wish.

You'll want to get your name on the reservation so you can get a room key and use EMH. Your mom can do that after you arrive. Bell services shouldn't have any problem stowing your bags before that, but you might need to explain why they'll be holding bags for a guest who isn't registered yet.

Good luck with your surprise.
