I've read lots of threads. Most talk about coming from the airport. I think I have that part down pretty well. However, on the way back, I'm still a little confused. I'm staying at POR.
1. How do we get our luggage to the front of the property for pick up. Do we just call bell service, or do they tell you in advance when they will be around to pick it up?
2. I've heard of the DME not showing up. Is this the norm? If it happens, do the CM's get a cab for you without having to pitch a fit?
3. I'm fly NWA. Do the buses drop you off for curb side check-in? Or do you have to stand in a monster line?

Any help will be appreciated! :earsgirl:

We stayed at POR in June and it was a piece of cake. Supposedly, you will get a notice on your door overnight the night before you leave, telling you what time you should go to the DME desk/bus. I don't believe that NWA is a 'participating' airline but that's no big deal. So......when you arrived at the airport they should have stamped your return vouchers in your packet. This is what you will need to board the bus. You will typically be at the bus stop about 3 hrs. before your flight time. If your flight is at 2 pm, the bus you should be on will leave at 11 am. You should call Bell Services about 30 minutes before you need to go to the bus. Then you go to the bus stop, get in line and wait. They will stick your luggage underneath the bus, you get on and off you go. I don't think there have been any recent issues with buses not showing up.

As far as where the bus drops you off at...for the life of me I can't remember where we got dropped off!! We didn't have baggage since we flew a 'participating' airline and checked our luggage at POR. Someone else should be able to tell you that.

I'm using DME again tomorrow. Loved it in June..it worked out quite well.

Bringing your luggage down from your room, whether or not you can do airline check in at the resort, whether or not you are using Magical Express, is on your own. You can call Bell Services for that.

If you did not get, could not get, or forgot to get both a bus pickup time and stamped return bus vouchers upon Disney bound arrival at the airport and you did not get them on your door the day before you go home, get them at the lobby ME desk by the day before you go home. You can make changes at the resort, for example if you switch resorts.

Northwest participating in resort boarding pass printing and baggage checking going home seems to be an on again off again issue. They participate with the service (B.A.G.S.) that handles these amenities at other hotels but apparently have not been paying Disney according to a required contract.

There are still isolated instances of buses not showing up or being too full. Anecdotal evidence suggests that you must be prepared to take the bus after, 30 minutes from your assigned pickup time. Thus the 3 hour in advance of flight time pickup time and the rule never to cut things closer. Yes you have to pitch a fit, not loud enough for other guests to hear, and promptly.

Sounds good. It would be soooooo wonderful in NWA picked up on DME. I am alway nervous about trying new things.
