We are not using the luggage tags that will be sent to us...we are going to go to baggage claims and get it.

My question is...when we check out of pop century and we take our luggage with us..I heard that you have to pay the checked luggage fee before ME will take it on. Do you do that there at their counter? Were not taking a computer with us so I wasn't sure how to go about this. Do I tell them that we are taking our luggage and checking it in ourselves? And if so...do we still have to pay the luggage fee first?

When you get your DME information on your door the day before your check-out, there will be a number for you to call for you to pay your luggage fees, you will have to charge this to a credit card. It is very simple and doesn't take long to do. As for your luggage tags question, we only have ever used our tags, but I would think that it would be like when you are arriving. You will have to get your luggage from the driver and then go check them in yourself....hopefully someone can come along and give you a better answer. Good luck.

If you're going to check in for your return flight at the RAC counter, you MUST pay the checked-baggage fee in advance as described by PoohsFan1. If you're going to take Magical Express back to the airport and check in there, you can pay the checked-baggage fee at the airport.

Please be advised it is customary to tip any service person (bus driver, bellhop, skycap) who handles your luggage - $1 or $2 per bag. But you can bring checked luggage to the DME bus with you, and they will accept it.

Hello there! In Nov 2008 we stayed at POP and we did not put the ME luggage tags on and brought them to the ME bus ourselves. We naturally tipped the driver for the bags and it was a breeze. Going home was crazy because it wasn't like coming due to the baggage fees by the airline. We received our departure time the night before and we were there right on time. I stood in line for the RAC (I think this is what it's called?) and they handed me this slip of paper to call (not my airline) to pay for the luggage fees. I was not comfortable doing this on my cell phone, in public and not with my airline. I think I read this is standard, but I didn't feel comfortable. I didn't want to hold anyone else up either that was waiting on us to do this so I told them we would just take the luggage ourselves and check them ourselves. Yes, we tipped the driver again and it seemed there were lots of people doing it this way going back. We had no problems but of course had to take our luggage with us. Our airline now allows you to pay for checked bags online so I'm hoping to avoid this in Sept!

The other poster mentioned they now put the phone number to call with the paper they leave the night before so perhaps they received some useful feedback on this. It was probably my only "complaint" of the whole trip.

Good luck and have a great trip! :cool1:

Thanks for the information! I thought that I would have to call in and pay the luggage fee even though I am taking it myself. Glad to know I won't have to mess with that as long as I am handling my luggage :thumbsup2

What is the RAC counter?

Resort Airline Checkin. It's identical to curbside checkin, except that it's 30 miles from the airport.
