Hi! We are flying to Disney this afternoon and our flight is scheduled to land at 6:35pm. We will be taking DME to Pop Century, Does anyone know what time we can expect our luggage to arrive? I'm guessing it won't be until 10:30 or 11, if that is accurate will they still deliver it to the room? If not are we able to go pick it up then or will we have to wait until morning?
I'm trying to decide if we need to collect our own bags and bring them on the bus or if we can just use the DME service.
Thanks!

Disney aims to have your luggage in your room 3-4 hours after you arrive at the resort (and your room is ready). You have to decide if you want to pick up your bags or not before your flight, as if you use the yellow DME tags there is no chance of your checked bags making it to the luggage carousel. If you want to let DME grab them for you, they will deliver them that late. But you can always tell the front desk to hold your bags until the next day if you want to go to bed before your bags show up.

Thank you maxiesmom. If we ask them to hold our bags would we be able to go pick them up from bell services once they arrive that night? I'm thinking I could send my husband to get the bags while the kids are sleeping if that's possible.

That I am not sure of. I know that if you have them held you can call down the next morning to have them brought up, if that helps at all.

We just got back from Pop Century and had a very odd luggage/DME experience. Our plane landed at 9:45am and we had already done online check in. When I turned my phone back on (still en route to the gate on the plane!) I got a text with our room number. Since we were anxious (and hungry!) to get to Epcot, we went straight to the room, dropped off our carry-ons and headed out to the park around 11am. On the way out to the bus stop, my mom looked over and said, "Hey, there's my suitcase!" as we watched them unload one of the baggage trucks. So, we knew our luggage had arrived at the resort...but...when we returned to the room at 8:30pm (almost 9 hours after we arrived at the resort!)....no luggage:sad2:!

I headed down to the luggage services area and politely asked....WTH??:confused3 They looked confused...typed stuff into the computer...more confused looks...and then headed into the back. They came out with our luggage and said, "It wasn't delivered because you had the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your door". WHAT??!!! Um, no...no we did not. Oh well, fortunately it was just 2 rolling suitcases (and mine was really a carry-on size) so it wasn't a HUGE deal, but still...not what we expected. When we got back to the room, we couldn't even FIND a "Do Not Disturb" sign. As I started to unpack, I found it IN THE DRESSER DRAWER:rolleyes:. I have no idea what happened, but I can tell you that I did not hand out any sort of gratuity:crazy:.

Sounds like my Pop experience!! Arrived at 10:30, in our room by 11. Our bags didn't show up until after 5pm!! We kept calling, kept being told the bags hadn't arrived from MCO yet. The problem with the value resorts is that they don't deliver nearly as frequently as the other resort levels.
If I arrive at any time after 6pm, I don't tag the bags, and get them myself. Yes, I tip the bus driver $1 a bag.

At least your bags showed up:)! We had to go get ours:crazy2:. I wonder what would have happened if we hadn't gone down to the desk:confused3. I assume they would have tried again, but perhaps the invisible "Do Not Disturb" tag would have been out then too:rolleyes1.

We always bring our bags with us on bus. Only used the luggage service once and waited about 7 hours for bags. If you bring bags with you it's no big deal. Morgan do can take awhikevto unload luggage from plane but once you have them just put them under bus and get them when you arrive at resort. If room is ready you just take them up. If not we lesve with bell service until room is ready. We rarely go to parks anymore so we keep out swimsuits to go to pool. Or we head out for lunch. I much prefer having control of my own bags.

FWIW, sometimes people mess with other rooms. At a totally different hotel, not onsite, and at Disneyland, we put the DND sign up and someone took it off. So my room got cleaned, when I didn't want it to be (undergarments strewn around, NO tip on the table, computer out, etc), because someone had taken it.

Could have been the opposite.

Or was your room changed at checkin, like you had a different request? They could have gone to the old room, which was someone else's by that time.

Or they just mixed up the room.

Or they just mixed up the room.

Most likely this. On one trip we were midway through our week there and came back to the room and there in the middle were two suitcases that were not ours. We called baggage services and they came and got them but who knows how long they were sitting in our room with their owners wondering where they were.

Don't get me started on the Pop luggage service!!! Last May we were supposed to be at Pop. It was myself, my 21 y/o dd and her best friend from high school. My dd and I were driving over from visiting my ds in Tampa so no need for luggage delivery. But, dd's friend was flying in from Dallas, so she tagged her bag. About 5 weeks prior to our stay, I upgraded to POR in a Royal Room...as a surprise for the girls. The reservation number stayed the same...so, I didn't think I needed to tell the friend to cross out Pop on her tag and write in POR! We have been told repeatedly, to leave the tag alone if the reservation number stays the same....CMs scan it at the airport and it goes where the scan shows. Then, it's scanned again at the resort level. Well....we got to the DME checkin CM, tapped our MBs...we were directed to the Pop bus line. No, I told them it had been changed to POR!!! Nope, seems it wasn't showing in their system!!!! So, we had to spend about 15 mins with another CM, getting it figured out. They finally found our POR reservation, same number by the way. Told us it was a good thing we didn't have any checked bags!!!! WHAT????!!!!!! Said we had just one. So, the CM went over to the counter and did some stuff...came back and said it was fine now...but in the future we should cross off the old resort and write in the new one. So, they aren't scanning anymore?
Off to POR we went...it was about 6pm. Headed off to BLT to watch the fireworks with another high school buddy who was doing the DCP at the time. Got back to POR around 10:30ish.....no bag. Called down to Luggage Assistance.....it wasn't there yet! Okay....it can take 3-4 hours. But at midnight it still wasn't there...called again. Said they would look into it. At 1am, called again......Oh, we're sorry. The bag has been at Pop all this time, it's on it's way now. It was finally delivered at 1:30!!!!!
Pop had this bag, just sitting there, all night. Never bothered to look into it. One would have thought that someone would have noticed a bag that didn't have a room to go to, just sitting there, for hours on end!!!!!

When you draw a line through the pre-printed resort name on the Magical Express tag and write in your new resort name, it is still possible that at the several points the bag is scanned, the CM might not look at the tag and just throw the bag in the bin or pile or truck that the scanner indicates.

But I would expect that by the time a bag ends up at the wrong resort, a bag that did not match up with a room number should have its tag examined before being set aside.

To add to the confusion, maybe there is a policy that we don't know about where bags that arrive "a day early" are held to be rescanned the next day to see if a matching reservation appeared. Misdirected bags could well have been commingled with early bags.

If this bag had been scanned, at least once, it would have gone to the correct resort! I stood there, watching as the CM made the necessary changes to allow that bag to go to POR! I told her that we had been instructed, many times, to leave the resort name as is, don't cross it out and write in the new one..that the bag would be scanned and if the resort reservation number remained the same, there would be no issue. The CM's response? 'Oh no, not any more. You should always cross it off and write in the new resort. You can't count on the system having the correct info.' Seriously???
In my case, it was a simple screw up by both DME and Pop!!! Won't allow them to move my bags again if I arrive later than 5pm!!! Just too many ways for things to go wrong...and that's too bad. It used to be a very dependable service. Now there are too many people not taking responsibility..and passing it off to the next person.
