We are 4 people = 4 standard size suitcases and 4 carry ons
We fly JetBlue

If we use DME to get from MCO to POFQ ->

Can we carry and get our own suitcases at MCO ?

Can the DME bus store our 4 suitcases in the bus luggage compartment and give us our luggage when we arrive at POFQ ?

If we use DME, should we tell DME about storing our luggage in the bus when get on it from MCO ?

If our suitcases do not have a DME tag on them - how does the DME CM's know we are going to POFQ and are allowed to ride the DME bus to POFQ with our suitcases in their bus ?

Would other guests be mad if we store our 4 suitcases in the DME bus luggage compartment ?

We do not want to wait 2 or 4 or 8 hours for our luggage to get to our room.

Thanks for any and all DME help !

Yes, you can handle your own luggage. We do it all the time. In fact we have never used the full luggage service in our many WDW trips.

You do not have to notify anyone in advance. Be sure not to attach the Disney luggage tags. Gather your bags at Baggage Claim and head to ME. You will have a voucher for each registered guest. AT the ME Desk they will process your vouchers and direct you to the correct bus. The driver will place your bags under the bus and retrieve them once at the resort (a tip is expected).

Bringing all your luggage onboard bus? Haven't seen that. I would give you a strange look as there is plenty of room underneath and we wouldn't have to wait for you to load/unload.

Thank you so much ! we do tip - everyone - always :goodvibes

Would other guests be mad if we store our 4 suitcases in the DME bus luggage compartment ? There is no place on the bus to store that much luggage (carry ons are fine).

We do not want to wait 2 or 4 or 8 hours for our luggage to get to our room. Not quite sure when you arriving, but on average it takes 3 hours after you check in to get your luggage. We go to DTD or a park for dinner and our luggage is magically in our room upon our return. Just bring everything you need right away in your carry ons. Part of the DME magic is not having to shlep your luggage from the airport to the resort.

By the way, the yellow Magical Express tags do not mean anything to the bus driver if you bring your bags to the bus. They are used only by baggage handlers on the tarmac and behind the carousel.

You should not use the yellow tags if you plan to bring bags to the bus because bags with yellow tags coming off the plane (before 10 PM) will not go to the carousel for your pickup.

Do NOT put those yellow tags on your bags. They are only for bags you check at your home airport to alert baggage handlers, at MCO, that they need to grab the bags and send them to the DME luggage area. I see way too many people in line for the bus with those tags on their bags...they only serve to confuse CMs.
The other thing is this....it's fine to get your own luggage and bring it to the bus with you. But remember....if a lot of people do this on each bus, it slows down the bus. You have to sit there and wait while the driver unstows all those bags, and then has his hand out for tips for baggage handling. I had one bus trip that was about 15 mins longer due to this at the first two stops.

We had this issue heading out, when a family of 10 insisted on bringing all of their luggage with them. It took forever waiting for all of their stuff to be boarded.....:sad2:

I was by myself, with one small back-pack so they put me on the bus that was just about to leave. I got really, really lucky.

We do not want to make anyone mad at us.

DH likes us to get our own luggage.

I will price out a town car with a 30 minute stop at a food store VS the DME bus and Garden Grocer.

Maybe the town car to POFQ and we can do, when our vacation ends, DME on our way back to MCO.;)

Thanks for the advice !

A town car is a great way to choose a grocery store to go to.
A town car is a great way to have someone help you with your luggage.
A town car is a great way to get to your resort more quickly.
A town car is a great way to get to a location other than your own resort.
A town car is a great way to get individual personalized service.
A town car is a great way to save having to trek from the A side carousels up to the top level and across and down to the DME welcoming area on the B side of the airport.
A town car is an outrageous solution to the "problem" of lots of luggage on the DME bus.

seashore CM - Thank you.
I think we are leaning towards a town car service at least to POFQ and then maybe DME for our ride back to MCO, to get that last Disney feeling.

Can I suggest you do it the other way around? Do DME to the resort and a towncar back to the airport. You will get the very cute welcome to Disney movie on the bus, instead of the we are sad to see you go one. Plus, for some reason, the ride of the bus back to the airport seems much longer than the one to the resort. Also, doing a towncar back to the aiport will give you a little bit more time at WDW. Only half an hour or so, but still...

Quotes from seashoreCM:

A town car is a great way to get to your resort more quickly.
Possibly, possibly not. It depends how long it takes to get the luggage off the plane and the yellow-tagged luggage pulled before bags are available; on the ride side, a bus departing just as the guest gets in line provides a faster arrival than the town car when that guest has checked luggage.

A town car is a great way to get to a location other than your own resort.
Except that then you have the added burden of what to do with your luggage (and any grocery-stop purchases) at this alternate destination, as well as how to ultimately get everything to your resort. Luggage can't go on WDW buses.
