we are using DME but get free checked bags with United (have united credit card and used it to book airfare) so how will this work? Do we contact BAGS to let them know?

call disney and give them your flgiht info and they will send you the tags for your luggage if you want them to pick it up or if you want to pick it up and take it with you there is space under the bus for the luggage to go

We have the luggage tags already. I'm worried about going back to airport to fly home when we leave and they will expect us to pay the bag fee

You'll be fine, the baggage fee is covered by your credit card and has nothing to do with riding DME.

24 hours before your flight to MCO you will have to check-in online for your flight with United, pick your seats, print your boarding passes and select how many checked bags you will be taking. Luggage tags for the flight are usually printed at the Kiosk at the airport. Don't confuse these with the yellow DME tags that Disney provides. You will need both on your bags, one for United to track your luggage through the airport and to your destination airport and then the yellow DME tags for when you arrive at MCO so that the DME crew can grab your bags and get them to your resort.

For your return flight, check-in online for your flight 24 hours before flight time (just as you will have done for your trip down).
You should be able to check your bags through directly from your resort to your home airport, luggage tags will be printed and put on your bags at your resort and you won't have to worry about them again until you arrive at your home airport.

I also have a United cc. For my return flight, I check in at the United web site within the 24 hour period. Then on the morning before the flight I go to RAC and they will take my bag and print my boarding pass. They usually have asked me if I paid my baggage fees and I reply that my bag is free because I have a United cc. As I recall, they always ask to see the card. Last year on one trip, three family members were flying with me and the cc only provided a free bag for 2 of us. I had prepaid the fees for the other two when we checked in earlier. I explained this to the person at RAC and she accepted this.

This has been my experience, too. I have the Delta AmEx card and the RAC agent always asks about paying the bag fee even though I've checked in with the mobile app, etc. I explain I have the cc, they ask to see it, I show it to them, and we're set. I've probably used RAC 20 times since having this cc and I cannot recall one time that they didn't ask about the bag fee.

Thanks for the info. I just got the new JetBlue card that covers up to four travelers' first free bag. I was wondering how this worked.

And just did that (for Delta) back in August - worked like a CHARM!!!!! So nice not to have to handle luggage either arriving or departing!

I've had a Delta credit card and they could see my bags were free when they pulled up the reservation on their computer. They didn't even ask to see it.

I just got the new Jetblue Mastercard and booked airfare last week. It actually shows 1 bag next to each traveler, though I didn't choose that category, nor did I pay for it. My new card is tied to my Jetblue/trueblue account. Hopefully that will be enough.
