We'll be going to DLR with a 9 month old in March.

I've been trying to do some research into what rides/attractions we can take a baby on with us.

While I've found other posts etc. about this, the ones I've seen seem to be based on speculation.

I'd like to know what attractions other DISers have actually taken infants on.

Can you hold your baby? Leave him in a carrier (e.g. Bjorn?)?

If this has been discussed to death, let me know, I didn't have much luck searching, but that doesn't mean it's not here...

oh, i am going to be watching this thread, cause i'm going in april with a 9 month old! my plan was to keep him in the sling/carrier the whole time (well, as long as he is chill with that...)

i am curious to know what rides he will be allowed on! i'm also wondering if everyone will hate me if he is noisy during the aladdin show!

I'll be watching, too. We may be traveling with a 5 month old. I've heard of 'baby swap' for certain rides, but would love if someone could explain that in detail. :confused3

Thanks in advance!

Ok I know that my friend took her little one at 3 months old (we are locals and her DH works at DTD), and I know she took him on all the dark rides. I know she swore that POTC was the best cause she could nurse and/or he could nap in the dark.

I am not 100% sure on if they require you to take infants out of all carriers but I believe that she was not able to keep him in the bjorn, but could keep him in the sling or her arms. Hopefully a parent will give you more details on that.

Basically any ride without a height requirement is an all ages ride and you can take a little one on that ride, which is a lot in DLR!

ok - I will give this a shot!:)
I have been to DL MANY times with infants as I have four children and we go a couple times a year.
First off something I learned last weekend when we were there. A father was riding the carousel in FL w/ an older child and had an infant in a back baby carrier. The CM made him take the baby out of the carrier. He (the CM) said that front carriers are okay on the carousel - just not back carriers.
Babies can ride anything that doesn't have a height restriction. Pirates, Buzz Lightyear, Small World, basically anything in FL except Matterhorn. If the ride has a bar that comes down than the baby needs to be face forward in your lap.
I believe you can leave your infant in a front carrier on these rides - but I never used one at the parks so I don't remember for sure. But I am sure somebody else can confirm that.
I also found my little ones didn't mind being in a stroller at DLR - even if they hated the stroller at the mall! I guess there is alot more fun things to check out at DLR!

does anyone know where i can find out which rides have height requirements?

answered my own question. If this is accurate, that is,:

Matterhorn: 35"
Space Mountain: 40"
Splash Mountain: 40"
Big Thunder Mtn RR: 40"
Star Tours: 40"
Indiana Jones: 46"
Autopia: 52" to drive alone, otherwise no requirement

California Adventure has some height requirements as well:
Soaring over California: 40"
Hollywood Tower of Terror: 40"
Grizzly River Run: 42"
Mulholland Madness: 42"
California Screamin': 48"
Orange Stinger: 48"
Maliboomer: 52"

I am the mother of a 16 month old who made his first disney trip at 7 weeks and has been 5 times since, including trips at 3 months, 5 months, 9 months, 1 year and 15 months.

He can ride anything without a height requirement, which is most everything at DL and some things at DCA. Some of our favorites that the whole family can ride include the HM (he's not afraid yet), Peter Pan, POTC, Buzz, Mr. Toad, Pooh, TSMM, and Monster's Inc.

Additionally, the Nemo subs, Aladdin, Turtle Talk, Storybook Boats and Mark Twain provide great nap time for little ones as they are all very relaxing and relatively long rides/shows.

My little one also enjoys Dumbo, the Carrousel (he rides and I hold on to him in addition to belting him in), Flik's Flyers, Casey Jr., and the Heimlich train as they are very kid friendly rides. He also thinks that the Tiki Room show and Playhouse Disney shows are phenomenal, and he love, love, loves:lovestruc the parades--especially the now defunct POD.

As for child swap, we use it for Soarin', Screamin', BTMRR, Space and Indy on a regular basis. It is also available for some other rides like ToT, the Maliboomer, etc. but either DH or I (or both in some cases) don't care to ride them, so we have never used them. For most child swaps you need to show the child and the person who is waiting to the CM who will then give you a slip of paper that you use to enter the ride after the first person has finished. The slip allows the adult who stayed behind plus one other person to enter the attraction either through the exit (Space, BTMRR, Indy) or at the FP line (Soarin'). I think that Screamin' uses the Single Rider entrance for child swap too.

Be sure to use FPs for the person who is standing in line to minimize your overall wait time. Also, get a FP for everyone, including the person using child swap, and over the course of the day you can build up a reserve of extra FPs. In the case of my DH and I, we always both get an FP for Space and then using child swap we can ride twice during the day on only one set of FPs!

If you are staying onsite or in the general vicinity of DL, be sure to take the time to go back to your room for naps and/or stroller breaks. Break time was/is especially important to us since DS was just learning to walk and didn't want to be cooped up in the stroller all day. We sometimes take him back to Toontown and let him run around in Goofy's house and garden to work off some energy, but the time back in the room is invaluable too!

Have a great trip everyone! Some people say that they would never bring a baby to DLR, but I have found that with a little modification to how my DH and I used to tour the parks, we have found that it is an enjoyable experience for all of us!

You've had lots of great responses. One thing I didn't see mentioned was the baby center. I haven't been in it, but a friend of mine just recently told me about it and I wish I'd known when our kids were younger. I guess they have rocking chairs for feeding moms, microwaves, small toilets for potty training kiddos, etc.

The child swap is easy - dh & I used it last week because our middle dd didn't want to ride Space Mountain. We all waited in line. When we got to the CM she gave me a pass and directed me out the exit with older dd and middle dd. Dh and ds rode the ride. When they came out the exit, older dd and I walked back in the exit and we were boarded right away.

Let me just say that I really, truly did not appreciate just how fantastic both the facilities and staff of the Baby Center at DL (I have never been in the one at DCA) are until we went to KBF for a day on our last trip to So-Cal. Despite the warnings from others on the board we braved the crowds on a Toys for Tots day--NEVER AGAIN! But, beyond the insane crowds, I found the park to be dingy and dirty, and what they called a baby changing center was little more than some metal changing tables and a microwave that I would have sworn was from the 1970s. Every bathroom at DL has better changing facilities than the designated spot at KBF, and the women who run the official Baby Center are the sweetest CMs ever!
