Hi All,

I managed to snag tickets to the Ellen show during my Disneyland vacation. Does anyone know the cheapest and easiest way to get to Burbank from Disneyland (staying at the HoJo)?

I will be travelling to and from Burbank by myself to meet my girlfriends, while my wonderful DH is spending the day with the kids at Disneyland, so I'm hoping to find the safest way there as well.

Any idea how much a taxi would cost?

Thanks!

Rent a car for the day. Seriously... between the distance and traffic a taxi/town car is going to cost a fortune. On the other hand it's difficult to find a shuttle or shared ride service to take you to a non-airport destination. This leaves you with a rental, which using a coupon code, priceline or just a good deal shouldn't be much at all. Gas will be a half tank or so and totalled up that's a heck of a lot less.

I was considering renting a car for the day, but I worry that not knowing my way around will be a hazard for myself and every other driver around me...

Well in LA you won't be the only one...

Seriously though it's a pretty straight shot up from one place to the other and you can add a GPS unit for a few bucks if you're worried. Even then the cost should still be less...

You could take Amtrak from Anaheim station to Burbank station and take a taxi from there or have your friends pick you up. Here's the pertinent schedule. An alternative is Metrolink, but you'd have to switch trains in L.A.'s Union Station.

Oooh... the train is a good idea. It's definitely going to take some time and involve a few cabs but would be fun and avoids driving. Although when you get tickets for 3 people the cost will outweigh a car.

Hmmm, how much would the Amtrak ride cost me?

I just wanted to add I'm jealous you got tickets for Ellen. My Mom and I have been trying to snag tickets for ages!

I live right by where the Ellen Show is taped. One thing to remember is that you need to allow time for lining up and waiting for the taping. If anything goes wrong and you aren't there in time - you won't be admitted. You also have to allow time to get from the parking to the show site - it can be a bit of a walk to some of the soundstages. Ellen isn't right on the edge of the NBC lot anymore - not really sure which soundstage they put her in a WB. You ahve to be escorted from the gate to the soundstage, too.

I would almost do car instead of train, but it's your call.

It really is a straight shot up the 5 to the 134 (stay in the middle lanes of the 5 until you see the 2 - then head to the right side, but not the far right for the 134 West exit.). Then it's only 3 exits down the 134 to the studio. It is much safer driving that people suggest. Crowded freeway traffic is slower than normal smaller city freeway traffic. I actually have not ever gotten a speeding ticket since moving here in 2000. I had 1 a year living anywhere else....
