DLR Premium AP = $329 beginning 10/18/04

The DL site is also notorious for being updated late, that could be why the prices are registering the same online.

For my family of 4, I get a premium pass & my husband & boys get deluxes. It's still a big chunk of change but it makes a difference at under a Grand for sure!

And honestly, all the refurbs right now don't bother me, in fact, they make me very happy :teeth: that DL's getting the facelift that it needs. Yeah, it sucks to have so many rides down but it's a necessary evil due to the level of disrepair the park fell too. Cast Member Matt had his work cut out for him, but he's moving right along bring the park back to his former glory.

I'm just glad that the AP's didn't jump to the rumored $500 range
:earseek: I still feel it's a good deal and after I got over the intial shock I can say I will be paying the increase!:earsgirl:

I think it is outrageous.
And I do not understand why DL does not offer a child's rate the way that WDW does on AP's.

As I know it, there is no child's rate as almost all of the attractions at Disneyland and DCA are child friendly. The height limits are very low, and kids under 3 are free. I took my friend and her four year old sister, and the only ride she couldn't get on was Space Mountain, which was closed anyway. She even went on Tower of Terror!!

The main reason the passes went up is because of the sheer numbers of annual passholders. The idea was, if you raise the prices, less people will buy/renew them. Instead, even after all the increases, people are buying and using their AP's in record numbers. Just for an example, look at the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire attraction at DCA- they decided to close it after taking a better look at the numbers. Apparently, it was mostly a core group of AP who were playing repeatedly.
I kinda agree with raising the prices for the AP's, as they really do pay for themselves after few visits. They can't really be compared to Knott's or the Aquarium, as I've been to knotts and bored out of my mind in a few hours, and the aquarium loses it's luster after a few visits. Disneyland is always new- I've never been bored there, as there is always something to do or see. Even when I'm there by myself, I look for Hidden Mickeys.

Then why are there child's rates on the regular admission tickets?

Since you were replying to my post with this I should point out that I was complaining that DL does not offer a child's rate like WDW does for annual passes.

A 50% price increase in a year for a product is outrageous! The least they could is soften the blow to their most loyal customers by offering a child's discount (like WDW does) on AP's.

Oh, and another thing I noticed that I had not seen posted - on the Disneyland website the So Cal passes blackout dates have increased (there were 240 open days for Select) now it is 227. The $99 So Cal was 204 and is now 176.
So those prices were not increased but the blackouts have increased.

It sounds like they have to be more expensive on the Disneyland passes to cut down on the number of passes sold, because of the huge local audience, which is sad. It is kind of ridiculous though, when the WDW annual pass is $379 for 4 theme parks and the Disneyland pass is $329 for only 2. My FL resident renewal for my WDW premium annual, which even includes 2 water parks, Disneyquest, and Pleasure Island, is only $377. I understand why they're doing it, but still it seems like a rip off compared to WDW.

why would they close WWTBAM for the reason you stated? (because the audience was mostly APers that watched the show over and over)!! That seems crazy...who cares if it is APers at the show or others (day passes or hopper passes)? If the show was popular, and stayed pretty full, they should have continued showing it! I think that unless the show was completely dead, they should have kept it....at least on limited times/dates. I love this show, and was very dissapointed in March that it was not showing on the days I was there!

That is is the show was not even close to capacity. It closed because of low attendence and those that were attending were AP'ers who came to see the show over and over and over.

We saw the show once, it was fun but deffiently not something I wanted to do more then once. I was disapointed that the "trivia" was not disney related.

Disney sent by mail today to each member of my family our renewal forms.
The form says:

Southern Cal: $129.00 Renewal Price: $129.00
Deluxe: $179.00 Renewal Price: $159.00
Premium: $279.00 Renewal Price: $259.00

On bottom of this it states:
Renewal Prices are valid until Passport Expiration Date (which is Nov. 6th. for us) No other terms are on this.
(This offer is good only for mail in offers)
Yes, they updated the form on website sometime yesterday, but this was mailed out Saturday when they knew the prices were going up and I'm going for it :D

Bummer about WWTBAM!:( I guess I'll just have to cherish my hat and pins I won shortly after it opened!

We're a family of 4 and we've managed to be PAP holders for the past 3 years. While, yes, this is going to be a huge financial hit on my family's entertainment budget; I'll just have to manage. My family loves going to DL about once a month, just to hang out. I suppose we could buy the Deluxe APs. But many times, we go on holidays because we really don't have anything else to do.

If they go up another $100 in the next year, I don't know if I'll be able to afford this luxury. I guess we'll just have to wait to see....

What I quoted came direct from the link you posted.

I know what you were referring to, I was just saying they mailed me the renewal forms which I got in mail today and there are no terms like it says on page from the link.

Sorry, I didn't clarify. To actually occupy the hot seat and be eligible for prizes, you had to have not been in the hot seat for ( i believe) a month. AP's would make it to the hot seat and then not be able to actually occupy it.

Also, they are planning a new ride for that area of the park, so maybe they want to use the building?

I will still be renewing my AP. It is still a great value for us.

Wait till they send the renewal form to you. Don't do it on internet. As I said previously, I had received our renewal form in the mail after the price changed and I sent 4 renewals in and paid 159.00 each for Deluxe (we live in NJ and don't go that much) and got our passes yesterday in mail for that price.
On the form that I mailed, it said those prices were good until the passport expires. The prices are on the the previous post about 5 up from this post.

DL's AP price increase does not surprise me, and I still feel they are a good value. I was actually disappointed when they dropped the price a few years ago, there are simply too many AP holders in the parks.

What does surprise me is that WDW's AP's are so affordable. Maybe it is because WDW doesnt have as many local visitors.
but $377 for a whole year? is that everything? water parks etc?? wow.

I just had a week worth of ultimate parkhopper... I wonder how that compared in price to $377.

Or is that $377 price a FL resident price?

haha I'm rambling now... good morning!
:sunny:

A WDW AP (for $379) only includes the four main parks. You can get a "Premium" AP for additional $ that does include the water parks and probably Pleasure Island also.

IMO. You just have to look at how often you go to the parks. If it is worth it to you ge the AP. Or downgrade to one that is a better deal.

We are only going to be going on two (3 - 4 day) trips but I am still saving at least $70 each by purchasing the (deluxe) AP over two sets of hoppers. Well worth it to me.

Just to clarify, the $377 is a florida resident premium annual pass renewal rate, and that rate is the premium that includes the water parks, DisneyQuest, and Pleasure Island. It is true that the first time I purchased the pass it was more like $420 without the renewal discount. And also if you're not a florida resident, add $100 to the price. But still I was making the point that a DL annual pass doesn't seem like nearly as good a deal as the passes for the FL residents for WDW here in FL. I am wondering whether it would be worth it to purchase the DL pass for a trip next year, and it's seeming less and less worth it.

Not that I want to pay more for my AP, but I think I agree with you.

Thats is ridiculous. If we still were living in california we wouldnt probably renew our passes. Not that we cant afford but when we pay 379 for our WDW passes and get a lot more DL's passes need to be a lot less. Disney what are you doing!
