DLR Only Mid/Late September Photopass Share-FULL again! (see updates in Post #1)

Hi all,

It was suggested I start a new thread for a Sept photopass share that I am willing to lead.

I led a share this past June for WDW and DL travellers that went really well and would love to do one again.

Here are all participants/ travel dates so far:

***UPLOAD DAYS SCHEDULE****(added 8/30/08)***

These are the days assigned for you to enter your Photopass Card numbers into the GROUP account. Having specific days for each family to upload ensures everyone's pics stay together and can be separated easily when it comes time to burn your personal copy of the photopass CD.

I generally assigned everyones upload days as the 1st 2 days you are scheduled back from your trip as I know we will all be excited to see our pics!:woohoo:

I will email you the group account login info on the night before your upload days. PM me if these don't work and we can work something out.

Looking for families with similar dates (mid/ late september) with a limit of 6 families on the share as the system gets too slow once we pass 1000 pictures.

How Photopass Share works: (parts of this were taken from the share I did w/ Msslaydebug back in June)

1. Everyone will pay their portion when we close the group to new members.

The final amount is as follows (updated 8/14):
Currently DL CD is $59.95+ $5 shipping that Disney charges to send the orignal CD. This works out to $10.82 pp. We would then need to add $3.25 pp for Jewel Case/ CD ($.75), padded mailer ($.50) and postage ($2.00 approx)

Total cost=$14.07

Payment can be made with checks/ money orders sent to me or I can accept paypal. I sent emails to the email address everyone provided asking you to verify which payment method you will be using. If you chose paypal, I also sent a link to submit payment to me. (Please be aware paypal charges me a fee of 2.9% to accept payments so if you chose paypal, I added on the $.40 paypal charges me to the amount requested). If you want to mail payment, I included my home address in my email to everyone.


2. Go on your trip and take LOTS of pictures! There is NO limit to the amount of pictures you can take! When you start your trip you will get a photopass card from any photopass photographer in the parks. Your photographer will then scan your card. Take as many pictures as you want !! Stop every photopass photographer you see. They are great opportunities to get the entire family in those pictures ! You can use multiple cards but it is easiest for you to try and use the same card as much as possible.

4. When you return home DO NOT create your own photopass account to view your photos If you create your own account with your pictures you will no longer be eligible for this Photopass share. You can either email me your photopass information and I will then enter it into our group account on your assigned upload days or you can enter your photopass #s into the group account yourself. I will email our group account login info to you on the night before your upload days. ( If you do enter your information into another account there will be no way for us to change this and you will then need to order your own photo cd).

5. Editting Info-We will assign everyone "upload days". That way, your pictures are kept together when they are entered into the system and your pics don't get mixed up with other familiy's photos. After you upload your pics on your assigned days, you are free to edit your pics up until the end of the share. All your edits will stay grouped with their original.

6. After everyone has entered/ editted their pictures, I will order our CDs from Disney. This will take about 2 weeks to arrive sometimes a little quicker. I will let everyone know as soon as I receive the CDs from Disney.

7. Once I get the CD from Disney, I will burn each family a CD of just THEIR vacation photos. This will be easy to do if we have all entered our photopass cards on different days. I will mail out everyone's CDs in a standard jewel case in a padded mailer.

Feel free to post any other questions you might have. I will try to login regularly and stay in contact with everyone throughout the share.

Cheshire girl also PM'ed me that she would participate if I was going to start a share. Could we hold a spot for her unless she says she's not interested? Her dates are Sept 5- Sept 9th.

I'm not sure I understand why we can only look at our photos on a certian day?? I did a PPS in June and it made no difference. All the cards were entered when we got them. My friend had about 30 photos, I had about 30 and last person had about 20. They all sort of stayed on the computer in its own group. We all logged on and did editing and sent it in. Once the CD was recieved I burned 1 copy per person. No editing. I just put them all on my computer and then mass deleted anything I did not want.

As an aside, when I did a PPS last year the lady did not include all my photos and many got lost and it was a huge pain. I suggest just burning the CD as is and let each person delete what they dont want.

I won't be able to do this one, but did have a suggestion. If there are pics that aren't of someone's family, but are of characters or the castle, etc you should add them on everyone's CDs.
 
Sorry, I haven't done this before....just wanted clarification? The total price is the $79 + $5 plus cd case and bubble envelope? or is the $79 divided six ways among the six families participating? If that's the case, I'd like in if there's still a spot left.

My DLR dates are September 22, 23, & 24.
 
I think it's $59 right now and yes that would be split among the families participating plus the shipping and packaging charges.
 
As an FYI, they dropped the price to $59.95 earlier this summer. I checked today and that is still the price that is coming up, so the cost would be $59.95 plus the cost of cds and mailing.

Some photoshares also comp the organizer's cd for the time and effort they put into the process. So, I would be happy to split the cost 5 ways to compensate justkeepswimmin for the work that she will be putting in on our behalf. That would work out to roughly $13-15 each, if others are agreeable to this plan.

Hi Jan,

I appreciate your concerns. Here is why I am doing the share this way:

The share I participated and lead last June was also with WDW families and some of these groups had over 200 pics before editting. The system slows to a virtual stand still once you get over 1000 pics and the other share leader and I, having researched these issues, decided that having an editting schedule would minimize everyone's pain. No one had a problem with this though the last couple families (we had 9 in our share) had to spend over 8 hours just trying to edit. As this is a DL only share, we will probably not have the same problems as there are less photopass photographers but I still like the idea of an editting schedule as it worked well in our last share.

For privacy reasons, some people don't like the idea of other people getting copies of their vacation pics. By having everyone edit during a certain period, it was easy to make a note of where their batch of pics were after people finished their edits and I had no problems separating once I got the CD. To my knowledge, no one in my share lost any pics and Disney had to send me 6 CDs because we had so many pictures :scared1: !

I understand if you may not want to join this one. I totally admit I am an uber control freak and that can be annoying but the plus side is I take it all very seriously so flaking out is not an option.;)

Just let me know either way-no hard feelings at all as I understand your point of view.

And thanks for the info on the $59.95 price. Is that the cost when you get back(no pre-ordering required)? Do you know if Disney still charges the $5 shipping like they do for the $79.95 price?

Okay it looks at though the 1st reply I left for you here got lost somehow but I sent you a PM and will hold a spot for you.

Looks like the price is down to $59.95 +$5 disney charges to ship out the original CD for ttl of $64.95 we will need to give Disney. That works out to $10.82 per person + about $3.50 in costs I will incur shipping your CD to you, as well as getting a padded mailer, jewel case and blank CD, That S&H amount maybe less- I will figure that out in the next few days and look at the last share I did to see if I can accurately determine costs but it looks like we will be at around $14 per person if the $59.95 price holds:woohoo:

Just a question also as Im just discovering PPS -- Does participating in a PPS
mean that you cant get or keep as many pictures as you would if you did it on your own? Is that what the editing is for?

We are full..sorry.

But to answer your other question, a share still allows you UNLIMITED pics. Disney will send as many CDs as it takes! The editting is more about adding cool borders and effects and the photopass site has a lot of these!

Photopass share are a great deal so I hope you find one or consider starting another!
 
Oh man, I missed it! That's what happens when the kiddos keep me busy and off of the computer all day. :(
