I was curious if someone could explain to me where the Kennel is located at DLR.

And what services they offer.

Thank you very much.

They give you a box to put your doggie(s) in and nothing else really. I believe they do offer food but you must return to the kennel to let your dog out to do it's business or the dog will soil the crate (they don't have "real" kennels, just crates) and they aren't able to take them out. There is no play time or anything, they are only out of the crate when you come back to let them out.

The kennel is located to the right of the DL main gates, they are open 30 min. before and 30 min. after the park opening/closing times. We asked because we thought it was an actual kennel, when we found out they were just crated all day we decided it wasn't worth it to us, instead we board them or have someone stay at our home while we are gone. :)

We've taken our dog to the kennel and it's not horrible. It's true that it is a hands off kennel, but they expect you to come and take care of your dog. They record your in and out times and will give your dog water if they need more. There are some larger kennels out back that we have used on cooler days, but I would not recommend them if it's really hot. The fans outside are just not as good as the air conditioning inside.

It's not my first choice maybe, but if I left the dog at home, she would do about the same. Plus we liked the break from the walking. We basically timed our kennel trips with our park hopping.

As far as the cast members go, we had mixed experiences. Some were there cause that was their assignment, and some really enjoyed the dogs and came out and played with us.

Also, just so you know, you can take your dog on the tram, but we chose to walk to get our puppy some exercise before a day in the kennel.

I have been by there while waiting for a friend. They are standard dog grooming type of plastic and metal cages that vets use as do animal breeders.

It is a pet parking spot and it is up to the pet owner to bring toys, blankies, and other stuff that the owner feels will make the pet more comfty. It is up to the owner to come back and walk the dog if they feel the dog will need that or if the dogs need meds. It is not a bad place for dogs and if you believe that it is a bad place then please never leave your pet at the vets or dog groomers.

Thank you everyone so much! My fiance and I are truck drivers, and we recently purchased annual passes.

If the temperatures are nice, she has no problem staying in the truck (with fans on, and plenty of water, as well as cracked vents.)

But when it gets anywhere near 70, I can't leave her in there with the sun beating down.

IF California didn't have a no idling law, we'd just leave the truck running, and lock the doors, but that's out of the question...

So it looks like she'll be making her first visit to the DL Kennel today. :-D

My DH is a truck driver and is stuck in Los Angeles right now and he HATES the no idle-ing law, but it is what it is! enjoy your AP's!!

You know, if there wasn't a no idling law can you imagine what kind of smog our state would have? I LOVE the no idling law personally. :)

Enjoy your DL visit and Thanks to you both for keeping our country moving! :) We do a lot of truck shipments, don't know where we would be without truckers. :)
