DLR hotels, please tell me why you love them

We prefer them for a few different reasons. One is that I want to fully immerse myself in Disney while we're on our trip. Two, is that it is more convenient since we have 3 kids under the age of 7. I like the fact that we can return to the hotel just in case someone gets tired or has an accident.

One of the major perks to staying in a DL hotel is that you can have purchases (souvenirs, etc) sent to your room for no additional charge. I like not having to carry things around the park and worry about losing them or getting them stolen.

We considered staying at a different DL hotel this winter, but we will most likely go back to Paradise Pier. The kids love the pool area and water slide, and are familiar w/ it. Oh, I also like the parking situation. WE always drive to DL, and it's nice to park the car right there, on campus and not have to worry about it. I always seem to have to make frequent trips to our vehicle for various things too.

There are several reasons why I loved staying at the DLR hotels.

At GCH :

- All of the CMs are absolutely amazing. Everyone is VERY helpful and take the
time to consider their guests needs.

- It is so darn close to the parks !!!

- I had food poisoning one of the times I was at GCH and the onsite nurse was
excellent. I was throwing up pretty bad for about 6 hrs and the room service
CM was very great in helping out. My fiancee ordered me lemon juice even
though it was not on the menu and they squeezed it for us and brought it up.

- The ambiance throughout the hotel is amazing. You really get to feel like there
are redwoods surrounding you.

- The bar in the hotel is great. They are very attentive and it is very cosy
there.

- There is a separate entrance to DCA for guests staying at GCH.

- My fiancee and my father had a massage at GCH and said it was great !

DLH:

- All the CM's are so jolly and attentive !

- The pool is soo fun and great to see from your hotel room (if you have the
view).

- There are great restaurants to eat at on site.

- The prices are less expensive than GCH.

While you can get Magic Mornings for one day on your park hopper tickets, when staying at a Disney hotel you can do MM's every day they are offered during your stay. If you have AP's, you don't get mm's so in that case, staying onsite is your only way to take advantage of that. I know during our summer trips, when we have stayed onsite its been very nice to have that extra hour each day its offered as opposed to just one day.

The location of the hotels is good in that the GCH is so close and the DLH and PP are a pleasant walk up DTD or a shortened walk via the monorail. Many of the hotels on Harbor are very close (even closer) but walking up a busy street isn't that much fun. At least when you walk to one of the onsite hotels, you are still in Disney so to speak and aren't worried about traffic.

I love the themed pools at the resort hotels. Slides, pool bars, food service, lifeguards, free swim vests for younger kids are all nice perks of the pools at the DLR hotels.

Having several dining choices (full and counter service), including room service, right there at your hotel is nice. I know when my nieces were little my brother and his wife really enjoyed having room service some nights for a nice dinner while the girls were asleep after a day in the parks. Again, its a perk with a pricetag attached to it!

The package delivery is very handy. The rooms are lovely and upscale, the GCH rooms have turndown service every night which is nice. The customer service you enjoy in the parks is yours for the entire stay when you stay onsite. And as everyone has mentioned, that ambiance that just surrounds you. The DLH is my personal favorite (I have stayed at all three), from the time I pull up and see the big Mickey statue, I am just in some sort of Disney heaven!

Still, as you can see by my sig, its the Hojo for us next trip. Sadly, I just can't justify the cost of staying onsite every time. In 13 trips to Disneyland, 10 of them have been onsite. The other three trips were still fun, but at moments, I was a bit sad we weren't staying onsite. But for the most part it didn't bother me, we were in Disneyland after all!

Why not go visit them on your next trip. You do not need to be a guest to stroll the lobby, eat in one of the restaurants or visit the shops. It will give you a good idea of what each one is like.

We've stayed at the DLH and will be staying at the GC in August. There's truly nothing like staying at a Disney resort.

My DH and I debated back and forth on where we would stay in September for our second honeymoon but he said the final decision was mine. I decided that I really want to stay at the DLH. I don't think you can beat the theming and all the pixie dust.:goodvibes
