so I think we are going to book our vacation for Aug 2012 {Aug 26-Sep1} and stay at the DLH. There will be 7 of us so we will be getting 2 rooms {hopefully adjoining} but I wondered if you guys could tell me all the GREAT perks about the hotel....{my mom will be coming along with my kids 18,11,6 & 5}...I looked at PP, but it just doesn't seem to have the Disney "theme" that I think my kids would absolutely LOVE at the DLH :)
1. do they still do those gift baskets that you can buy in advance to have waiting for your kids {they use to have themed ones and would deliver them to your room, but I have never been on property so I don't remember where to find that information}
2. how is the pool?
3. how are the rooms with a view? {debating on a regular room or room with a view}
4. how bad is the actual walk to the park? {we have stayed at the Sheraton..way too far for us, and the Camelot ...LOVED it}
5. and is the whole "Disney" feel really worth the extra $$$$?{especially with all the new upgrades to the hotel

thanks so much...we got a Disney travel book from AAA last night and my kids were looking through it and would LOVE to stay on property {and my DH made the comment "if we go, we need to stay on property, just saying, that's all" LOL!!!

Since you are going in the Summer they may have special entry permissions or FastPasses like last Summer. Last Summer it was to ride Little Mermaid and Star Tours, but this Summer Carsland may be part of the picture. We don't know if this will happen but it's possible.

1. Yes Dream Makers does these. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...uCelebrate/index?name=CelebrationsGiftingPage

2. It's awesome with a couple small slides and large slides. Splash play area and two pools.

3. You may not get a good view or could get a bad view from a standard room. From a view room you usually see the pool and city. From the park view you see the parks, though they aren't close.

4. The DLH isn't super close, about 12-15 minutes to the gates. But it's a lot closer than the Sheridan, and the walk is much more pleasant through DTD.

Try going to this thread, is has updated pics. We stayed there from Dec 19 - 28, and it was amazing. They have really ugraded the entire area. The pool/resort views are nice. We will not stay anywhere else now. The walk itself is not bad at all. I have a slight disability and did not find the 10 - 12 min walk taxing at all. It is through DTD and quite nice.

The new pool area is really nice, and the updated rooms are amazing and to me the room alone is a huge perk. Loved the details in everything there. Also having the onsite dining and DT Disney a few steps away is a huge plus. I am going to miss staying there in a few weeks, but want to try out the GCH for a change.
