We are staying at the DLH & My brother figures he is just going to stop somewhere either at DLH or in DTD on the way to the parks in the morning for breakfast -- what time do all the bakeries, etc. open?

EE is at 7am Tues/Wed the week we are there (due to Wed/Thu grad nights), so my plan was to order muffins from Von's to eat while getting ready in the room & leave our room by 6:00-6:15 am (6:15 at the latest!) to be at the gates by 6:30 for EE, but I'm thinking for him to stay on my time-table he'll need to be at the bakery (or Jamba Juice, or wherever) at 6:00 am ordering, thus leaving the hotel by 5:45 am....and I just don't know that those places will be open at 6:00am?

I told him just now that DH & I will be waiting in line at the gates (planning to hit Dumbo & Peter Pan 1st of course), but if they are running late we'll just go ride Space Mtn a few times until they catch up (he didn't like that so much). He does have 4 kids between 2-11 so I understand he is going to take longer getting everyone ready in the morning, but I just don't think he really grasps how crucial that EE hour will be! And I'm planning on loooong afternoon breaks to sleep/relax. Oy vey, this is our 3rd trip together, but the first one where I've gotten Disney-Smart and I don't think he is going to cooperate with my plans & doesn't realize how much busier things will be in June (our last 2 trips were in March).

I wouldn't count on much of anything being open that early in DTD. DH thought about getting some Peet's coffee from the Hagaan Dazs before going to the park one morning, but when we checked (the day before, fortunately) we learned that they don't open up until 8 AM. We haven't actually been in DTD in the early, early morning for several years now, but the last time we were, places like La Brea Bakery weren't opening up until 7 AM. Perhaps things are different these days? Perhaps the hotel coffee shop is open extra early? Or maybe your brother should consider room service or bring muffins and stuff like you are doing. I'm pretty sure Goofy's Kitchen and Steakhouse 55 don't start serving breakfast until 7 AM, but maybe the coffee shop is different. Sorry I couldn't be much help, but I figured maybe someone else will read this and add more.

I don't have the answer for you, but my understanding is that they open relatively late for a MM start. I had been thinking about this too, so I'm going to throw a couple of bagels in my suitcase and a few Starbucks instant coffees to get us going that first morning. Each day I then plan to buy a couple of muffins for the next morning from the bakery there on our way out.

Thanks for the reply -- I'm really thinking that nothing will be open, but want some confirmation so I can prepare my brother & convince him to piggy-back on our grocery order!

There is nothing open that early! We have tried this in the past and gone hungry . Your idea is a good one, or you can get some items from nearby the night before and keep them in your room fridge. There is Compass Bookstore right next door (DTD) as well as the little coffee place within the DLH. I read a post from someone that said they'd heard Compass was closed, but I don't know? I hope not! They have fruit, yogurt, bagels, donuts, coffee, and various morning items plus sandwiches and so on. They also have good coffee & coffee drinks. They open earlier than most places but I don't think you'll find them open when you go by at 6:15 AM!

DLH has free coffee in the lobby in the morning, along with to-go cups with lids, real half-and-half, etc. so you can get that on your way out to the parks.

What we usually do now is go to the park w/coffee, wait in line, and then once we're in dh and the kids grab a banana from a fruit cart and make a beeline for Space Mt while I stop at Blue Ribbon for a cinnamon roll. ;) I meet them after their first ride and we go on again :cutie:. Then sometimes, later on, we go back to Carnation Cafe or La Brea for a sit-down breakfast.

DizMe -- thank you for the confirmation (I like being right)! I got on the horn to our parents (they are also going) and convinced them to order some pastries too so we should at least have enough food stuff for the first 2 mornings we are there (which are both MM). Our 3rd morning we have ressiez at Plaza Inn & then the last morning the park doesn't open until 9am, so if we are out of breakfast items, we can stop someplace in DTD.
17 days!!!!!!!!!
