DLC No AP Renewals?

There are two annual pass types affected out of a collection of different pass types. These two specifically stated no blackout dates. Yet with the reservation system in place, owners of these passes went to court over the idea of no blackouts, if a lack of available reservation stopped them from entering. Seemingly two opposing ideas. Pay extra to go anytime, but anytime to Disney meant anytime reservations are available.

My apologies if there is another thread on this. I didn't see it. Apparently they are stopping renewals for Annual Passes in DLC?

I am not familiar with DLC - is that ALL the AP types? Does this mark the end of AP's all together?
I have only seen one report of the renewal being refused - so if that is the case not sure the article saying they are not doing any renewals at all might be just a made up story. All that source did was pull info from one person's complaint on social media, which they often do and makes them less credible. I'm waiting for more reports.

The person reporting he was refused a renewal had purchased military tickets, not APs, then he had upgraded them to APs at the park. I am wondering if him not being able to renew is more tied to how he obtained, paid or his discounted price paid to begin with. Perhaps they want to force folks in that category to purchase an AP from scratch, not renew ... and right now they are not for sale. Perhaps they will no longer allow renewals of APs not directly purchased originally at APs. Perhaps they are going to stop upgrading of tickets (which I had expected when they reopened).

Disneyland does have the lawsuit they are dealing with but I don't think that would affect WDW, two totally different types of parks and AP customers and we aren't having the extreme issues they are having. Two different animals. Honestly if they drop the reservations system all of the issues go away.

I could see our top pass becoming more expensive, I could see a revamp of DVC options, but I don't see FL AP going anywhere. Disney is too dependent on non-Disney hotel guests and an AP brings a big commitment to Disney, in a town with lots of competition from other parks with APs, it's important.

The official acronym Disney uses is DLR (Disneyland Resort). Not DLC. I thought you were talking about Downloadable Content at first which is what DLC usually stands for 😂

This is a unique situation being used to fuel panic in the community. Disney's official stance in the terms and conditions of the Magic Keys is that all are renewable unless otherwise stated. And no where officially released does it say any of the Keys cannot be renewed.

The person affected by this used a military ticket to upgrade to a pass that had a first use date of 5/1/2021. Therefore the expiration for the pass was backdated to this date. It is an entirely unique situation that is being used as click bait and should be viewed as such unless Disney makes an official statement confirming it.

The site reporting this is not known to be the most reliable source of information.

The Believe has block outs. Only the Dream has no block outs.

Upgrading a military pass to a Dream Key would not have provided any discount. You still have to pay the difference between what you paid for the military ticket and the Dream Key.

This person who did this upgrade made a really stupid choice. They lost out on 3 months of MK discounts and benefits, and essentially paid $1400 for a 9 month pass. Really dumb. Now, they are also getting screwed on the ability to renew because Disney is not currently selling that pass anymore.

The real question is whether that response from Guest Services, which was presumably a chat or email, is accurate. Those CMs responding in chat do not always have the correct information. I would be curious to see how this is handled at the ticket booth.

Also, no one is up for Magic Key renewals until August since the sunset the old program. My guess is that they might change the top tier a bit, or change the wording. But it's too early to tell what will happen at renewal time. I will be crushed if they don't let me renew my Dream Key though...it's bad enough I haven't been able to get an AP For WDW :( Why won't they take my money! Haha!

Thank you for the clarification. Clearly the story made it look like it was a statement from Disney and not an individual case, as you say - not a reliable source of information.

I have no idea on his discounts, but I do know folks have regularly played the upgrade game to save money at WDW.

And this is why that "website" is putting out click bait regarding renewals. They know nothing. They take one person's story that is not a straight forward story, and write an article making assumptions.

Disneyland doesn't do that thing where they give you the current sales price value of an old ticket. They know how much the military tickets cost (the price is printed on the tickets) and they simply subtract how much you paid from the price of whatever ticket you are upgrading to. Its like this with every type of ticket upgrade at Disneyland.
