We are missing Disney (it's been over 3 mos!! :sad2: :sad2: ), so to calm our withdrawal, I'm starting to plan our next trip. It will probably be next Spring Break, which is mid-march for us. :hourglass :hourglass

We are a family of 6 (when we arrive the girls will be 9 and 7 and the boys will be 5 and 3). So, obviously, we need a suite or at least a realllllly big room. I'd love to stay on-property to get that Disney magic, but that might not be good for the budget with 6 of us.
So, would you suck it up and pay to stay in a suite on-property, or go off-property. If off, what are some good choices for a large family?

And, how many days will we need for DL Parks? Will we be satisfied with 3-day tickets?

Thanks!!! :hippie: :hippie:

If you want walking distance, try the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. They have 2-bedrooms with 4 queens at reasonable rates. They're on my short list :thumbsup2 Here's their website:

If walking distance is not important, try the Residence Inns. There are 2 in the area: Maingate or Resort Area. You can get 2-bedrooms, full kitchen, and free hot breakfast. Here's the website for the Resort Area one:

Check out Mary Jo's sticky at the top of the boards for photos of the other one.

We are a family of 6 and we are going to stay onsite without getting a suite. (I'm not made of money, you know!! :) )

We are me (mom), dad, DD17, DD9, DS6, and DD4. We are currently booked at the GCH but I think I am going to change that. We would have to have the queen/bunk bed combo with DD17 on top bunk, DD9 on trundle, DH on bottom bunk, and me and DD4 and DS6 in queen bed. That would work for us, but I'm worried we may not be able to get that room configuration.

So I'm thinking of switching to the DLH where they have 2 queens and a daybed. That way me, DS6, and DD4 get one bed and DH and DD9 get another bed and DD17 gets the daybed. We've done that before and it worked out well.

The "trick" is to just not tell them you have 6 people. I figure if we are OK with it, then what they don't know won't hurt them.

JMHO!

Best Western Park Place Inn is directly across from the entrance and they have "suites" that will accomodate 6 also.

We stayed at the Buena Park Embassy Suites and DLH on our last visit, and we actually missed the Embassy after leaving. They have 2 queens and a seperate room with a sleeper sofa, free made to order breakfast, micro/fridge, and free shuttle. You save so much money with the breakfast and mini kitchen set-up. Especially with big appetites! The shuttle also takes you to the grocery, so you can stock up on water and sandwhich stuff.

I loved the decor of the DLH and the pool was really cool, but we were all about Disneyland - it just seemed wrong to spend the day at the pool. We did the DLH through AAA to get the unlimited fastpasses, and that was a perk my husband and boys REALLY used. As it turns out, that is the one reason I would stay on-site again, although I think you would be crazy to do 1 room with 6 people. It is cheaper to get 2 adjoining than a suite so keep that in mind.

This was such a nail biter of a decision for me - I wish you luck! :goodvibes

Here's another family of six voting for Best Western Park Place Inn!

Clean & comfortable and the location can't be beat!

IF it's still open during renos' Park Inn ,soon to be Camelot(i think) is very nice. The 4th floor pool area can't be beat to cool the tootsies or watch the fireworks.Offsite of course. Last year my dd got us a 2room suite at a reasonable price. :thumbsup2

ps,only 3mos?Jeeze it's been almost a year and i'm climbing the walls. Even my G dag.is begging to go back and she's only 3yrs old.Maybe in Sept. :cool1:

We Stayed At The Homoewood Suites A Couple Of Weeks Ago. It Was Very Nice. Their Price Includes A Huge Breakfast Buffet. Also Dinner During The Week. This Can Save Big Dollars When You're A Large Family. The Suite We Had Had Two Queen Beds In One Room; A Sofa Bed In The Living Room And A Kitchen. It Was Clean. We Moved Over There From The Ramada Limited Suites Which We Thought Were Awful! One Night There And We Had To Find Another Motel. We Called Homewood Suites At 1 Am And Got A Room For Three More Days Of Our Stay. It Was Like Night And Day. I Highly Recommend Homewood Suites On Harbor Blvd.

Our group of 6--3 adults, 3 kids, stayed at the Park Inn (now Camelot) last summer. We had a 2 room suite and plenty of room. This year we are trying the Desert Inn and Suites--better rate.

We always stay at the staybridge suites. If you go through Getaway Today you can get the room and 2 free adult park hoppers. Right now they are 3 day but sometimes you can get 5 day for the price of 3. Anyway they have 2 bedrooms, one with king bed and one with 2 queens (or doubles) and then a sleeper sofa in the living room.

It is reasonable, nice rooms and you get a nice buffet breakfast every morning. We have 6 or 7 depending on if my parents go and it works well. DH and I sleep in one queen my 5 and 6 year olds in the other queen with 14 year old on the sleeper and mom and dad in the king.

You save a lot on the breakfast and you can get a 1 week ART pass for 12 bucks to get back and forth to the parks.

For example we are going in November and just the room is like 1100 for the week which includes the 2 adult tickets. Good deal I think! We also added a few extra days on the tickets plus universal studios tickets and for 6 of us it is 1300.

Good luck and have fun!

We are staying at the Desert Inn and Suites this coming August. Our parlor A suite looks to be similar to the Park Inn mini-suites, but with a door between the bedroom and sitting area. Also DI&S has two TVs (I am not sure about Park Inn) We don't plan to be in the room long, but it is nice to have that extra TV and door to close in case the kids have had a bit too much together time and need some space. We may try the Park Inn next time, but they did not have room for all of our nights. Both are VERY close to the DL entrance and for us that is key. We like to take midday breaks and prefer not to hassle with the ART.
