DL tickets and reservations - April 15!

Just a follow up to my posts yesterday ... I emailed Disney Parks and DVC, and I just had a very nice follow up call with DVC. I think it would definitely help if they heard from some other concerned VGC owners as well--especially anyone potentially impacted by a trip in the next 60-90 days. So send those emails! I also posted this in the VGC owners thread.

Specifically, I asked for a special bucket for DVC and that the reservation calendar be extended far beyond 60 days to accommodate owners who own a very inflexible product (this is what WDW does and I reiterated that it was wrong to have different rules for the West Coast just because we are a small group).

VGC is now showing totally offline on DVC. I think something weird happened. A couple weeks ago, I grabbed five continuous nights of 2BR lockoff in July, which even seemed weird at the time.

If I can't get tickets to DL, or if VGC was overbooked, that's 350 points (several thousand dollars) and a BCV trip I canceled. I'm not really sure what to do now. The out of state restriction should be lifted June 15, but tickets have to be bought 60 days out. What a mess.

I agree, we are in the same boat. Have had reservations for June since like November I think.

I have VGC reservations but no existing tickets and am super worried about not being able to buy tickets AND secure reservations when they open on the 15th (we are CA residents). Not really a question here, but just hoping for some commiseration and advice from all you wonderful people

Definitely write to Disney Vacation Club and Disney Parks. I emailed them about the horrible position this puts VGC reservation holders in and they were very responsive, but I got the feeling the more people who voice the problems the better. They are taking it up the chain so I suspect they want numbers. There aren't many of us so it makes it harder.

I've linked the VGC online and it sticks. Nice to see that. TIckets already added on the app . They won't show online though-- I've tried to link online and says already linked. So -- they see something in the background -- wish the ressies show on app and tickets online.

I don't think many people will chance it before the parks actually open and there are reports of whether and how they are verifying residency. If we find out they aren't, THEN you'll see the competition from us out-of-staters!

I agree it would be too risky this early not know exactly how they are going to enforce it. We also shouldn't forget that when Disney sells "sale" tickets for California residents they make us show our CA ID's upon first use. We've had to do that many times over the years.

I totally get having it be just CA residents in the beginning, but I hope they open it up to out of towners by the end of Summer. I really wanna spend my 45th birthday there in September.

We have our VGC booked and our flights purchased for September. We still need to purchase tickets. We're CA residents so I'm not worried about that restriction, but I am a little nervous about not being able to secure park reservations for the days we're there. It's too early to know what capacity limits will look like, but I'm a planner. I'm definitely feeling more confident than I was a few months ago!

I added two VGC ressies on web and they display correctly with entire party (but no App yet).
Also added tickets on web (typed in the numbers) and they displayed on App immediately (but no web yet).

Still holding out hope this is a work-in-progress and the two will be linked very soon in a near-MDE look and feel. Clearly the back-ends are already connected.

Truthfully, same! It keeps saying we can check availability, but at this point, isn't everything available? I mean I guess we can see how far the calendar goes out? And hopefully be able to get a feel for how the system will work Monday? Unless there will be dates that aren't going to be available off the bat?

It sounds like it's mostly to see which days certain existing 1-day tickets will be eligible for use.

The old 1-day tickets were sold on tiers (depending on how busy the park was), so a top-tier 1-day would be good basically anytime, but the lowest tier might only be valid for a stray Tuesday or Wednesday (for example).

(And probably also a chance for Disney to preview / load test the new system.)

That does feel like it makes the most sense.

There's a threadbare possibility that they could use this to signal that certain tickets might not be accepted right away - like if the first two weeks really end up being a soft launch of sorts, and they decide not to take 4-day / 5-day parkhoppers until May 14th (both for capacity reasons and because the parks close at 7pm). But, at this point, I think that's really unlikely.

(To be fair, a bunch of things I thought were very unlikely have now happened, so maybe that means it's likely? I just don't know anymore, lol.)

I think anything is possible at this point! I'm sure others will as well, but if there is anything I can report back tomorrow, I will!

According to the DLR blog, guests will be able to park hop after 1pm each day. Here's the info: Guests with Park Hopper tickets may choose, pending availability, which theme park to start their day, when making their theme park reservations, and then will be able to visit the other park beginning at 1 p.m. that day. Guests with multi-day tickets will be required to make a separate park reservation for each day they plan to visit the theme parks.

Does anyone know if you can switch back and forth between parks after 1pm?

I wonder, though, if they’ll offer multi-day tickets (to accommodate disgruntled (ahem) Legacy pass holders). Something like five or ten-day tix at a reduced rate.

Disney will do what benefits Disney.

I recall when they dropped the longer day tickets for tourists (those of us who fly in and stay at hotels for a week at a time) and I expressed my frustration, I was reminded over and over that I must not be of use to Disney on those out days and should just be happy with what they did offer.

My guess is that they are going to sell opening day and the first few days at top tier pricing. Which I believe is $150 a day, if I'm not mistaken. Which means if the tickets in question aren't top tier value they won't work for those days. They are still allowing those ticket holders a "first look" at the calendar to pick their days. It seems as though you should be able to see 60 days out on the calendar.

There's been a lot of questions about ID on many of the boards and vlogs I've watched lately. So I am just going to through this out there. I noticed my App sent me a banner when I opened it saying I was a verified Northern Californian resident. I also remember buying discounted tickets for being a CA resident and having to show ID to get in. I have only once been an AP holder in the last 13 years of going. When I use my tickets for the first time they always ask me for my ID to match it up with the name put in for who it was purchased for. They take a pic of me and each one of my family members to link our ticket to our faces. They did this to stop people from selling half used park hoppers on eBay back in the day. So they always check ID with the tickets. They may not stop people from buying but that doesn't mean they won't enforce it at the gate. Just to be aware.

As far as gambling on when CA will open it's anyones guess. Our governor is the hot mess express right now and who knows what the heck he's doing or talking about. It makes it very hard to plan anything here as vaccines roll out and families become vaccinated for many of us it has been a long year and he is making things very difficult.
