DL next week?

Is this possible? Can it be done? I live in Wyoming in the mountains and want to go to DL next week as my son is out of school, my DH is leaving for Alaska and did I say I live in the middle of nowhere? I also don't have help during the week.

I wondered if it would be possible to pull of a week trip to DL? How can I do it and how can I make it cheap? I can get a room at HoJo's but is the something as good for less? Will we need the dining plan or not? Is three/four days enough for the parks?

I am a solid WDW with 4 trips in under a year and a DVC owner. We love WDW but I need to get away and want to see where it all began.

HELP!!! I need to do this cheap.

It is doable but it will not be cheap since it is Spring Break for lots of others also!! Crowds will be heavy and hotels are probably expensive, although you'd have to check for your exact dates. I can't imainge airfare will be cheap at this late date, but if you have a few thousand to spend, go for it!!

What are your exact dates and where do you fly out of? I'll see what I can find!! It'd probably be alot cheaper to wait and go in the summer, but I understand the need to get away!!!

I would drive in from Wy. I think it take about 12 hours. It is 4 hours to SLC which has the closest major airport. We are 1/3 of the way there.

I have found a rate at HoJo's of $139.00 and DL has a package at Marriot with tickets that hop for $1150 for four nites.

Our dates are March 26 arrive late, 3 days in the parks, leave the 30th for home.

How bad are the crowds? We will be getting a GAC if they are available so that cuts down on lines. Would it be fun or just hot, sweaty people squished together?

I just can't come up with anything else to do that would be as much fun.

Oh you'll still have plenty of fun, just didn't want you to be shocked when you saw how crowded it is!! It is hot, temps were almost in the 90's last week. You'd have to check the 10day forecast to be sure though!

Okay, well with driving that's not so bad! Too bad gas just started going up again. They will give you a GAC (not sure if that's what it's called there, maybe someone else can help)

Those are decent rates. For me that's expensive, but if it sounds good to you, go for it. I don't blame you, last minute trips often times end up being the most fun and memorable!!

I just saw that it will be Spring break in CA. I hope we don't find the crowds un nerving. We live in a farm town of 300 people. When we go to WDW it takes a day to get use to people.

It has been hot here also but only in the 60's. That would be very hot indeed.

I did get the Hojo's room for only $130. per nite. I guess after paying WDW resort prices I look at this as a deal. It is way out of our budget but being close to the park and clean room with internet and nice pool. I will just pay it off slowly.

Gas just went up .10 here. $2.29 per gallon!!!! I hope to find it cheaper. DH wants us to fly but I can't see coming up with another $600 for airfare. If we leave at 2 or 3 am and DS sleeps we should be ok. Or I could drink AMP and coffee and do it at nite, but not a good idea on so many levels. I can wake up very early.

I think we are going to come out. Wish me well and tell me what else we can expect?

Oh and I agree, I would just get up early and drive, you don't want anything to happen. Other than that, yes crowds will be big, but with just the two of you, I think you will be fine. HoJo is a nice hotel, we have stayed there a few times and are again in June!! Have fun!! That's the one good thing about planning so last minute, not long to wait!

We are good to go and a blessing from DH who just called and asked if the trip was planned. I said yes.

Wow, that is sooo expensive for fuel!!!!! Yikes. I will remember that on my way in.

Finally, I can get the Best Western Park Place Inn for the last two nites. I says right across the street. Is it nice and clean? It is a bit less with less a walk which is good for us. But what do you think?

Thanks again for the support. I did check on the GAC and they have it but not very forth coming with information. Other than to go to the city hall and they will help me. I told them I have several from WDW and do they need to see them to help. She said just come. Ok.

I see that you already booked, but in case you were still wondering I wanted to say that I would not get the dining plan. There are alot of offsite places to eat as well as onsite, all within walking distance so it really isn't necessary to do so to save money. BTW, we're going next week, too, although we have to take the kids out of school to do it .

If you didn't have your hotel booked already I would say to book through priceline and look for a really great rate on last minute stays. Do the name your own price thingy. I got a room at the Hilton (across from the parks) for $55 per night a month ago. It'll be more with spring break coming but still not too bad. Just don't back off the star quality when searching. The hotels use this to fill up empty rooms. . .

Also, I was in San Diego this weekend and paid $3.11 for gas so its still GOING UP. . .

Hope you have a really fun trip! Just a heads up that next week is Oregon's Spring Break as well.

Forgot to mention, BWPPI is a noticably shorter walk than HoJos and we thought it was clean the several times we've stayed there (though that opinion might be a little late at this point).
