I am planning a trip next year (November) for my DD and I , although we have been to DL many many times we have never stayed at one of the Disney hotels. Is it better to get a package if staying at one of them? I am leaning towards the DLH.

During our research for our trip, We found that the packages with DLR are much more advantageous (compared to WDW pkgs). WDW packages are expensive and you have to make sure you use all the components (ie. watersports, tours, dining options etc). The DLR packages are basically room and ticket (with a few minor advantages) and in our case worked out cheaper than a la carte options. I'd say price it out both ways. We got prices on each component from DLR, prices on packages through DLR, Priced everything online, then got AAA Vacations to price - finally settled on AAA Vacation pkg and saved about 20%.

<font color=navy>Another advantage to getting the packages is to stay at a participating hotel where the 4th night is free (provided you are staying for 4 nights or more). Also for the price of 3-day hoppers you get 5-day hoppers, or two pass days for free, which is cool.

For our trip to DLR last March, I booked everything myself, including 7 nights at the DLH (which is great by the way.) I plugged the idential info into the Disney web site for a quote (same airline, same flight, etc.) and Disney came back $1500 more!

We also priced both package and seperately and found the package was considerably more.
Of course we are traveling at a peak time so the pay for 3 nights get one free deal was not available - but the 5 day for the price of 3 park hoppers are available to anyone if you purchase in advance - even if you don't do a package.
