DL attractions vs WDW

If the WDW version of space mountain was as smooth as DL I would agree ... but its not, so IMO, the nod goes to DL. The WDW version is almost Matterhorn like rough.

I think the in-car soundtrack is the best part of the DL version of Space Mountain. With apologies to the Dick Dale fans out there, I love the song itself, I think it goes perfectly with the ride itself and even elevates it to a new level. I generally think the side-by-side seating is better than the Matterhorn-style single car.

Good info, hey this Sun can I do the 9:15 Color deal and then make it to the 10:15 Fantasmic? Or is that not enough time? I also do not see the Dreams Come True so it must not have fireworks that night?

Hang on, I see Holiday firewroks are at 8:45 over the castle.

OK, how do I work in all 3?

Fantasmic 9 and 10:15
Fireworks 8:45
Color 8 and 9:15

Can you do WOC at 8? The show is 25 min long. If you high tail it you should be in the park for fireworks at 8:45 then after that you should be ready to go claim a great spot for the 10:15 Fantasmic.

Thats why they built the stadium at HS in WDW for Fantasmic. Trouble is, I feel the show there has been seriously reduced. The lack of the Mark Twain and Peter Pan on Captain Hooks ship is bad enough but much of the rest of the show is lacking in comparison. While having a seat is nice, its been a massive cattle stampede getting back out of the stadium. All in all, I prefer DL's version but WDW's version is a must see as well. If you know the tricks, you can get a great view without a long wait.

must be the true best kept secret:laughing:. Only hints i've stumbled across (gleaned from several guidebooks) is to:

*try to watch from the nearby bridge POC
* do the dessert buffet
*try to grab a table @ nearby outdoor dining venue (name escapes me)

just hoping my Fantasmic experience will be different from last prime time summer one as to anticipated lower crowds:wizard:

i do agree that the ship portion was indeed impressive @ DL. My experience was marred by being cheek to cheek with so many other folks, although my DH didn't have a problem with being jammed in so tightly, guess it's all in your perspective.

Sure can, will give that a try, does WOC fill up-or is it just stand in the back and just walk out quicker when over?

I guess worst case can see the fireworks as we are walking back and into MK.

I disagree about ToT .... I do not think ours (DL) sucks .... It's certainly not as sophisticated (going through the tower) but the actual up/down part, seat of the pants, is better at DL IMO

Agreed- I thought the WDW versions of ToT and Space were kinda boring compared to the DL- the ToT drops at DL were way better IMO, and just like Space way better at DL.

WoC fills up. It required you get a show ticket to enter Paradise Park to view it. It has tiered veiwing levels within the park. Trying to find a spot in the top will help you get ou infront of everyone else.

Have you read the first post in the WoC Superthread?

Good call-will do.

WDW doesn't have these:

DL:

Matterhorn
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Indiana Jones
Finding Nemo Submarines
Toontown
Pinocchio
Casey Jr.
Storybook Canal Boats
Tarzan's Tree House

California Adventure:

California Screamin'
Bugs Land
Cars Land (June)
Grizzly River Rapids
Monster's Inc.

IMHO:

Pirates is better in DL
Buzz Lightyear is better in DL
Small World is better in DL

Both Splash and BTMRR are different than in WDW

I concur with the comments above but I would like to add that the Haunted Mansion at WDW is better than DL. In addition they are numerous other rides at WDW that DL doenst' have if you count all the parks at WDW. I hope you enjoy your visit to DL.

You should really just ride the things you want to ride and form your own opinions. Except for the rides that are EXACTLY the same, there will be people who prefer each version (most likely based on which they rode first and which they ride most).

For example...everyone says that DL's POC is better, partly because it is longer. However, I prefer it in WDW because I am used to it and when I rode it at DL I just wanted it to be OVER ALREADY! The longer ride did nothing for me.

I also prefer DL's Space Mountain, but that is because I am a wimp and I think it's a tamer ride than the one at WDW.

Small World is entertaining both places, don't really see how people can so vehemently choose one over the other.

Yes there are more Fantasyland rides at DL, but if you have no longstanding childhood memories of some of them the thrill is not quite the same.

I was glad that I got to ride Mr. Toad's Wild Ride again since I miss it at WDW.

Just go and enjoy...compare if you like, but everyone's opinion is just that.

The one thing that makes Soarin' great in California is that even the standby wait is reasonable most times, and you can get FPs easily (in fact, if you go before this summer or so, it's actually right where you come in the parks!) I'm not sure if Epcot's Soarin' is like that yet, but I've heard it's a long wait. So if you love that ride, you can ride it to your heart's content in CA.

A lot of the rides are extremely close in terms of which is better, but one that is outright head and shoulders above the other is DL Pirates of the Caribbean >>> WDW Pirates of the Caribbean.

I gotta ask. Just how far back did you scroll to find this thread?

Was searching for something else completely and saw this one and just decided to revive it.
