Is DL still pretty strict as to what size of camera your can take into DL? I just bought a Canon Powershot SX 10-IS and while this camera isnt a DSLR its size is about the same as one. Will I have any trouble getting through the checkpoints?

I haven't ever heard this. Every time we've gone we've taken our SLR with a couple of lenses and they've never said anything to us about it being too big. I was just there a year ago so unless it's changed since then, I would think you'd be fine.

There was a big confusion last year where some cameras were banned.

I don't know about the current situation unfortunately. But we were at the parks until November 7, and I never had one problem with my DSLR, even if I had the zoom lens with me.

Security was way more interested in checking my pin book. Exactly once I got a comment "oh, you got a camera in there, too." I wasn't ask to remove it from the bag for closer inspection, nothing.

My friends said that they probably won't give you problems if you look "touristy enough." :rotfl:

Disneyland prohibits "professional" camera and video equipment. They do not define "professional" so it is arbitrary as to what they will prohibit. For a time last year they prohibited any lens longer than six inches. That seems to have gone away. I do not think your camera will be a problem. I currently take a Nikon D300 into Disneyland regularly with no problem. My 18-200mm lens does not seem to be an issue. I would think twice about bringing a really long lens in.

I brought a Powershot S2IS into DL with no problem. It even had a large lens attached too it. Here's what it looks like so you can get an idea on size:

That reminds me of the size of my Sony DSC H2 that I never had any trouble with. I just took my DSLR with a couple different lenses (including my 18-200 mm) and they never said anything. It was just a look in the bag, and good to go.

I brought my D90 and a whole slew of lenses into the park along with a tripod and no one said a word. They were more concerened about what I had in my fanny pack than what I had in my camera backpack. I'm sure if you look like a tourist it's a lot different than if you look like a pro and are bringing in the paparazzi type lenses.

I have only been asked once by a cast member at bag check to see my camera. I think it just depends on who's working there.

We were in the park just after the Lindsay Lohan incident. I had just bought our Canon D40 and I was not allowed to bring in my 200mm lens. When was that? October maybe ? I can't remember.

However, over spring break, I had no issues or questions about the exact same camera and lens. Go figure.

Was that the 18-200VR or 70-200VR? I brought my 18-200VR and 70-300VR and no one said a word in January. I think the 70-300 is just under 7 inches long.

ETA: oops. I read ^^D40. I just saw now that you have a Canon. Never mind about the 18-200VR, etc...

I, too felt that it was the LL stuff that caused them to get their underoos in a bunch over extra lenses.

of course no one's even *mentioned* that Hugh Jackman was at the parks the other day!!!! Guess those pictures and video on TMZ were shot by fellow guests.
