HI,
I'm planning a DIY trip frm the UK in APril fron the 9th to the 23rd.
So far scheduled in:
Land at JFK for stay in NY for 4 nights
Fly to John Wayne, Orange County
Stay in Anaheim for 3 nights
Fly to Orlando
Stay at Crowne Plaza Universal for 7 nights
Fly home.

Can anyone help with a cheap hotel close to Disneyland, just needs to be clean and basic and close to restaurants.
(if anyone has any suggestions on hotels in midtown NY as well that would be great)
I'm not looking for fancy, just 2 - 3* as we only need a place to sleep.
Also what is the ticket situation like for DL - just got used to DW so don't know too much about DL.
TIA

elisebutt;

I can help you a little. As for the hotels in DL there are many around the park unlike WDW where the parks are surrounded by a buffer zone. Sorry but that's all I can help with the hotels as we tend to stay on property for both location.

Three days is just about right for DL. Magic Kingdom/Disneyland can be done in a day if you are going to skip some rides, but two days are good. California adventure can be done in one day easily. A three day hopper pass is about right.

A word of caution. If you have not factored it in, please be aware that you will be arriving in NY and DL at Easter break. Most schools have a week Easter break starting the week of April 5th or April 12th. DL may get croweded particularly on the weekends during the holidays.

Have fun.

I found the "www.tripadvisor.com" web-site really useful. You can search through hotels in Anaheim and read reviews of guests who have recently stayed in each hotel. They also rank them in order and can give you an idea of how expensive each place is.

We are staying at the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites in November. I like this one because it comes with a fridge, a microwave, and a very basic breakfast (toast, coffee, and juice). It's clean. It's also very close to the main gate so no shuttle bus is needed (very nice when the kids need a break).

Have fun planning.

Thanks guys, just got a quote for £49/night at the Radisson Maingate so will probably plonk for that one.

We've stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn - found it to be clean, nice and easy walking distance to the entrance.

Go to Mouseplanet.com - they have a list of motels within walking distance of DL. Another site to check out is laughingplace.com. Have a great trip!
