I really wanted to take my daughter to BBB before her "daddy date" at CRT. Budget wise it isn't going to work. I was hoping wecould do one ourselves and save money. Has anyone given their daughters a similar makeover in the hotel room themselves? Any tips of specific things to do?? She's never done BBB so I'm not even positive of everything they do there for the makeover. I would love for it to look as close to an actual BBB as possible. Thanks!!

I absolutely think you can do this! If you search you can find lots of pics of the typical style they do to their hair. I think if she is wearing a princess dress and has on a little makeup and glitter she will get "the royal treatment!" If I had a little girl I would definately do this! (I do have nieces so I have a little experience!)

Go to the mall and hit up Claire's. You can pick up a tiara, glitter makeup, nail polish, funky colored hair accessories, all the cosmetic stuff you'll need. If you go to images.google.com you can search for BBB pictures and get plenty of ideas of what you want to do (and what will work with your daughter's hair). I've found that "Show Girl's Secret" glitter glue by Hard Candy works really well for holding loose glitter in place, and it wipes off easily with a makeup remover cloth.

If you do the makeover yourself and then stop by the Castle Couture in the Magic Kingdom they will sprinkle her with glitter for free. I think the barber shop may do it too.

You could also just do her makeup and nails and take her to the Harmony barbershop for a hairstyle. I think it is not too expensive.

We did the BBB and one thing I noticed is they do the hair TIGHT.. like so tight it made my daughters head red. We did her hair and makeup the rest of the week like they did, but a lot looser. The glitter they put on I was finding in her hair for weeks too :) Depending on your daughter and how she is with hair being brushed and pulled, she may not like it anyway.

I definitely think you could recreate it yourself though. Maybe even put princess stickers on the nailpolish, buy a special pink sparkly comb, wrap it all up and put it in a gift bag to make it special.

I will say we splurged on the BBB and it was worth it for us. They chose my daughter to get her makeover done in the window and took a full hour on her. It was a once in a lifetime thing.

You could do the cheapest package and bring her own costume. There are options, if you still want her to do the BBB, but you could very easily do it yourself too.

Oh, great idea. I'm sooooo doing this. I like doing a fishtail braid the doing the tobsyntail with the braid, adding a crown then,Halloween spray glitter.

Check out YouTube for videos, there are a lot and some are better than others with showing you how to do the hair.

You can pick up the crown in some of the shops at WDW. We bought one at the shop by VotLM show. They were about $10 and have a spot on each end to slide a bobby pin through to hold it in place. I found it worth paying for as it seems well made. You can get the Mickey Head pin at BBB, but it was about $10 also so I skipped it.

You will need to pack gel, hairspray, thin elastic, and a good comb.

My niece has long curly hair so I did hers a bit different than they do at BBB. I did the bun part but left the extra hair hanging down from the bun in curls. It must have looked really good since we got a lot of complements on it. A few CM's even said they don't normally leave any hair down like that at BBB, but I really like it that way.

I finally found the thread I posted on last year with two decent videos of the process http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLkkj9tVOxo starts about 4:40
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyrvvZLfTDU

The videos I saw before I did my niece's hair did not show the unicorn horn. So I didn't do it the correct way.

Last trips to DL and WDW I did this...bought a tiara hair piece for her bun and spray hair glitter. She got a ton of compliments!!!!! And it took like 5 min and cost maybe $8? And we still have the can of spray glitter and have used it for some other events at home.

Great tips! We did the BBB in December & not 30 mins later my younger DD wanted her hair out. She hated the hard gel they used. Poor kid had to stay that way for 6 more hours until we got back to our hotel!

We did end up doing simple high ponytails for the rest of the week and I could put their tiaras on & it looked nice. I bought myself a tiara at HS by Ariel & we all walked around with our bling. I had no idea you could get the Mickey clip at BBB or I would have picked up more.

DD7 wants to have a BBB birthday party so I'm looking for little make up kits for the girls. Has anyone seen these?
