Driving past on I-4, saw that the former Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede is now some sort of giant flea market. I was in the left lane, couldn't get right to stop, but there is a sign advertising the "world's largest pizza parlour" or something like that.

Anyway, something to keep an eye out for should you be on the south end of I-Drive.

Oh noooo!

I have vouchers from AAA for the show. Of course we got them about a year and a half ago and never got over there to use them. Darn!

When did it close??? My parents were dying to see this show and I was going to buy them tickets for Christmas for our up coming trip in May.

They will be so disappointed!!

It closed pretty suddenly back in Jan. 2008...sadly it's been closed for a while.

Thanks for the info - now I have to break to my parents.:sad2:

No problem...sorry your parents will be disappointed.

A small silver lining is that Dixie Stampede still exists...they'd just have to make a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN, Branson, MO, or Myrtle Beach, SC to visit a location.

OK so the Premium Outlets next door supposedly made an offer that was too good to take over the Dixie Stampede location, then Dixie Stampede said they would be looking for another location in Orlando, then the outlets back out of the deal and the building just sits empty. If they were truly looking for another location in Orlando why wouldn't they just go back into the building,it's a great location? It seems like maybe they just rather sit back and wait a few years when the economy straightens up to open up another location in Orlando.

Race Rock, same deal. Supposedly an offer they couldn't turn down, but it's sat rusting for at least 2 years now. I think people in the tourism industry in Orlando have a hard time admitting defeat.

Yep, the old "we got an offer that was too good to refuse" excuse seems to be pretty popular here in Orlando these days. Then I guess the companies think people's memories will be so short that they won't call BS when the empty building sits there empty for ages or suddenly turns into something we vitally need more of, like a flea market or (God forbid) another Sony outlet store.
