I have been wanting to do this for sometime. I think that I am going to do it when we go down in September. I was wondering what you had to do? Do I just need to show them my PADI card when I get there?

If anyone on the boards has done this, could you tell me what I would need to do and what is needed?

Thanks,

Hi there! You'd get a better response to this question if it were posted on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board, so I am moving it over there for you. Please check the TPA&S board for further replies. Thanks! :)

If I am not mistaken, you have to sign up for it in advance.

And, yes ... you have to bring proof of diving certification!

I haven't done it ... but one day I will. Right now, the thought of Mom swimming w/sharks sends my ds (age 6 1/2) into a panic!

This link will have a bit more info. for you: DiveQuest

DH has done DiveQuest 3 times ('96, '98, and '00). He called down to WDW to make his reservation about 60 days in advance. He brought his PADI card, and his dive log book. He met the dive group at guest services around 4:30, and was in the tank for about 40 minutes. DD's & I watched and videoed him (we bought the video the first two times). He loved it! Didn't dive our last trip, as we went on the Wonder (land/sea package), and he dove in Nassau. Hope this helps!

Hi Michael . . .

Highly recommend this!! It has become a must-do event for my DH on every trip; he'll be making his 4th Living Seas dive this October.

You'll get a behind-the-scenes view, too, and the price includes a free T-shirt. They'll also be taking underwater video, to include close-up views of each diver; it's available for about $30 after the dive if you wish to purchase. (You'll have the opportunity to view the tape before deciding if you want to buy it.)

Allow about 3-1/2 hours in your schedule for this; although you're only in the tank for about 45 minutes, it takes the additional time to get ready and have a short tour of the facility, then dry off, change and view the video.

Bring your C-card; you can also bring your own mask if you prefer your own. All other gear is provided.

Thanks for the replies. I have been wanting to do this. However, it will just be me doing it as my wife does not dive. I was certified in '92, but have not been diving that much. Is it a requirement that you bring your dive log? Mine is just about blank.

Thanks,
Michael

It is required that you bring your C-Card, but your dive log is not required.

However, they won't care if you don't have many entries. And you get a really neat DiveQuest stamp in your book!

If your wife watches you from the viewing area, the videographer will get some shots of you in the water with her viewing through the glass. Makes for some pretty interesting shots.

Don't worry about not having many dives in your log book. Up until last year, all my DH had in his log book was his certification dives, and three DiveQuests!! And it is cool to see the video, shot in the water, when they get the family members on the "other side of the glass!" The one year, the video guy and I were taping each other, it was fun to watch the two versions back to back, when we got home.

Well that is good to hear about the Dive Log. My basically has just my check out dives. I will take it with me though to get the stamp.
