Oh my goodness, Charles was being a bit of a pill.....
That is one word to describe him. LOL!
I'm with you 100 % on that Cobb Salad, yum, it was my winner of the trip as well. The grapefruit cake was pretty darn good too!
Have you ever tried making the Cobb Salad? I've looked up the recipe but have been a chicken to try it. One of these days though...
I haven't tried making it yet, but after reading your comment and watching the kids scarf down regular salad at dinner tonight, I thought -- what a great summer dinner that would be -- I might try it next week. I did snag a copy of the recipe on the way out of the restaurant -- I also snagged the grapefruit cake one, but I don't think I am that brave yet.
I love Connor's little green men, too cute! The pose by the car is priceless! He will be so proud of it in a few years.
Those LGM went everywhere with us for a couple of days. Connor always seemed to have one in his pocket.
I'm glad Charles met up with you all and he and Chelsea got their thrills completed.
He knew better than to break Chelsea's heart like that.
So tell me about how long was that snake?
I am not sure because it was wriggling so much

, but it was skinny.
I can't believe he missed Brown Derby.
To that I say....
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!
That's one way to put it!
He didn't know what he was missing!
Charles did seem to understand afterwards that he had really missed out on a great meal.
I'm so glad that you were able to make lemonade out of lemons and enjoy your meal at Brown Derby. I'm very happy that you loved it, isn't it the best? I agree with requesting a booth. Jen and I just happened to get one but I would GLADLY wait longer to get one in the future, it makes a big difference.
I just can't wait to eat there again! Loved every minute of it!
Love the little green men.
Connor loves his LGM -- he is still playing with them -- they come in handy when the soldiers need somebody to liberate! LOL!
Exactly what I will have whenever I eat at Brown Derby - Cobb Salad, Grapefruit Cake, and a few bites of someone else's steak!
And if I can get away with it, I'll have a bite of their creme brulee, too!
The creme brulee was tasty, too. I did snag a bite of it!
It is hard to believe someone would pass up Brown Derby, isn't it? Oh well, to each his own. I guess the pretzel and Coke saved you a few bucks, didn't it?
That pretzel and coke was a lot cheaper! LOL!
I love the little green aliens! Has he seen the big remote control alien they sell at Once Upon a Toy?
NO way! I have not seen it either -- it sounds pretty neat! But expensive.
At one point during this trip, I was sitting in our Wilderness Lodge room with the sliding glass doors opened out to the patio. I thought about the 'Snakes in Resort Rooms' thread

and decided I had better pull it shut. We weren't far away from a thicket that was probably home to a snake or ten, so I only left it open after that when there were a bunch of us sitting around outside.
Good thinking. The snake we saw at AKL was the only snake we saw, but I swear it practically leaped out of the bushes and onto the walkway in our path -- that's what it seemed like to me, at any rate.
Hi Jackie! I can't believe you started school last week. What happened to Summer? I was MIA at church Day Camp, but i'm all caught up.
That's what I was saying all last week. I don't think I have fully adjusted back to school time and routines yet. It usually takes me a couple of weeks.
I love Chelsea's little box - AKL has such fun activities for kids!
They really do -- that was one of my favorite things about staying there!
I also loved all the little green men - looks like they enjoyed your dinner
Those LGM were thankful to be out of their container and breathing fresh air! LOL!
I'm glad you liked HBD - it is our all time fav so far, too! Curious that Charles didn't feel like eating, then had low blood sugar - maybe it was the heat?
Maybe -- there is no telling with Charles sometimes.
OMG I can't believe he didn't want to go to THE brown derby. You handled it well

I see a lot of people favor the grapefruit cake - Does it taste like grapefruits? Grapefruit in a cake just doesn't sound appealing to me?
How neat to run into a student!
I didn't know whether I would like the Grapefruit cake or not, but I loved it. It was citrusy -- like lemon cake only slightly different.
It was so funny to actually see someone we knew from back home!
Well I give to to Charles... what man misses meals? No way my husband would miss a meal, especially a sit down one, that is what he likes!
That's what Charles likes best about Disney, too, so I was very surprised. Oh well.
The box Chelsea made is really cute. My DD would love to do that. And where did ya'll get the little Toy Story aliens? My youngest would flip for those! They're so cute. (And we'd be lining them up on the table too...)

By the way the dessert over there looks YUMMY!
We found them at the little gift shop outside Toy Story Mania. They also had buckets of army men -- Connor didn't know which he wanted at first, but I pointed out that he could always find army men at home (and he already had some). It was $13.00 for a whole container of them, and it was his favorite purchase of the trip.
Dessert was very yummy! There were other choices on the menu that I would like to try some other time.
Yummm, Cobb salad!!! It tastes just as good at home!!!

You just have to add all the high calorie stuff to it, bacon, eggs etc.
I think I want to try it -- I loved it so much and I think the kids would like it with all the eggs, bacon, and meat in it.
So cute that Connor wanted his little green alien men in his picture with the car, He is such a cutie pie!!
Thank you! Connor loved his LGM -- he has played with them so much!
I love meandering through shops and looking at displays at the parks. There is SO much to see and surprises around every corner.
Looking forward to more.
Me too! Some of the best details are in the decorations in the shops.
Why is it I never quite make it to reply on the actual day you update...I mean really...what is my deal!!!!

I posted late last night, Jen -- no worries!
First of all congrats on surviving your first week of school!!! I'm wishing you a very speedy year!!!!!
Thank you! With all those furlough days, we are going to have a lot of breaks!
Secondly, to miss Brown Derby...oh the horror LOL...that is always a great meal in my book and I think you made an excellent choice in entrees I LOVED the Cobb Salad and just like you I could eat it every day and be happy!! I have never been brave enough to try the grapefruit cake, but it does look amazing!!!
You must try the grapefruit cake, Jen -- it tasted as amazing as it looked.
Love Connor's green men I want some now...to think the crazy things I could do with those in my classroom LOL!! They could help demonstrate!!!!!

What a great idea! Yes, you need some LGMs to demonstrate lab safety and such!
OOH...I hate Snakes...oh yes I do!!!
You should have seen how high I leaped -- I was so freaked out by it!
Another great review for Brown Derby!
It was just a lovely meal from start to finish.
I see no problem in letting Connor play with his little army guys at the dinner table.
I figured it was keeping him quiet and happy -- a winning situation in my eyes!
I have to tell you this since you're also a mother of a Connor. My Connor has recently informed me (at the age of 5), that he wants his name spelled ConnEr. His reasoning is that ConnOr should be pronounced "Con-NOR" (as in "that is neither here nor there") and therefore his should be with an ER.
A very bright observation!

So, I have to know, what did you say to him? My Connor has never tried that one before, but recently Chelsea has been trying to shorten her name -- I notice she writes Chels on most of her papers.
