I don't know about anyone else, but I used to get stressed when I saw a phrase misused. Now, though, I enjoy it because of the mental images they give me.

My example:

Nip it in the bud - meaning = stop something before it "blossoms" into a bigger problem. Like taking a bud off of a flowering plant.

Distortion:

Nip it in the butt - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I just get this image of well, you know!

What other phrases do you notice?

It bothers me when I can't remember how to say them. Like the bird in the bush one. I used to get the 6 in one messed up, but I finally figured it out. :teeth:

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...um....Can't get fooled again."

George Bush a couple years ago in a speech. :teeth:

"What a terrible thing it is to lose one's mind...Or not to have a mind. How true that is."

Dan Quayle butchering the United Negro College Fund's "Mind is a terrible thing to waste" slogan.
