Disposable Seat Covers for travel

You know I only looked because the title said "closed", right?
Ha! Me too...except by the time I checked, the closed was gone. I wondered why it was put there to begin with and then why it got removed!

I don't lay my head back and doze or sleep on rides. I think the point of my question is lost and I'll just let this thread go to rest. Thanks anyway.

This comment makes me wonder....is your actual concern not dirty seats, but lice? Because if your concern is lice, you are probably more likely to contract them from someone standing close to you in a ride line or on a crowded bus than from an airplane seat. And there are simple things that you can do to lessen the chance that you get lice, like keeping long hair tied back tightly and using tea tree oil shampoo.

I changed the title to reflect the new links I found. This thread got too detailed about why I wanted to cover the seats. It was a simple product question. Thanks, but the point has been made.

It's a good idea, but I would feel silly covering the seat! But that's my self consciousness kicking in. LOL. I also hate the thought of sitting in the seat that has probably never been cleaned.

Whatever cover you use you have to make sure it doesn't cover any of the back of the seat, as the person in back of you needs to be able to use anything there--the seat pocket, and entertainment that may be there.

You won't be able to wipe the seat down and stand in the aisle either. You can't block everyone else from using the aisle. Take a blanket along, but again, it can't cover any of the back side of the seat. I have to wonder, how do you sit anywhere out in public?

OP @RedSox68 , this topic gets discussed a lot on allergy threads, those of us with or with family members who have severe allergies often use those covers to prevent reactions. Some use a twin sheet, others use wipes. So you're not alone :grouphug:

It's cute that you think this thread got mean. Threads NEVER stay on topic.

I would get a cheap fleece blanket and put that down on the seat. This way the people around you won't think it's odd when you pull out a paper seat cover. Fleece blankets are cheap enough that there's no love lost if you toss it.

Sometimes airplane seats skeeve me out if they are stained looking. As a general rule I don't wear shorts on a plane because you just never know ;)

I just wear long pants and long sleeves.... and take a shower at the end of the day.

If you're on a train, you can't wipe the seat down...it's fabric. You can spray it quickly with Lysol. And yes, covering it with an old blanket or throw isn't a bad idea at all. Lice have been spread via head rests on trains. Personally, I'd take along a throw and toss it in the closest trash can after leaving the train. Wear older clothes that are dark to not show stains and filth from whatever you may sit in and that can be washed after your trip in hot water. Trains are FILTHY! Had to ride from FL to NC for many years and the things I saw.

Really?!? Where did I say it got mean? I was neither offended nor hurt -- I just thought the point was mute after a while.

But to those who understood and provided some legitimate suggestions, I do appreciate your time. Thanks again.
