I found a good deal on disposable cameras and was going to pack one as a carry on and the others in my suitcase still in their box/packets; Will they remain undamaged in the suitcase going through the x ray machine, or should I pack them as carry on items also?
Thanks for input. Only a few days left and we'll be flying to WDW!:Pinkbounc

I used the disposable ones when we went to Vegas and they got ruined going through the xray machine. I had packed them and then checked the luggage.

JUst to let you know, Target has the DIsney Princesses on their disposable cameras (and I think a Pooh themed one too!)

During the beginning of the month, I put mine in carry-on flying from EWR to MCO.

In EWR, I took them out of the carry-on and gave them to the security. They did not even get them pass the carry-on xray. However, the security checked each one of them by hand and I felt so bad because it was just too much work for them.

In MCO, they let it pass the carry-on xray because they said it would be okay. (I didn't have too many choices, right?:( ) I had the first disposable camera developed, the color was not very good, but who knows, it could have been because of the bad photographer, me

I think someone suggested that we developed the pictures while in WDW, say take them offsite or mail to snapfish. I had planned to send them to snapfish, but I forgot to bring my check book and I don't want to provide my credit card if it is not necessary.

What is snapfish? What is the address and cost for developing? Where do you get the mailing envelopes?

http://www.snapfish.com/

I read about snapfish from DISboard, I registered and they sent me prepaid envelop so that I could bring along to WDW, someone suggested that to put them in the mail before returning home which I didn't because I forgot to bring my chech.

It is $2.99 to develop films from a disposable camera and $1.99 for shipping and handling. I tried only once, but as I said, I can't say too much about the developing because the problem could be me. It was quite fast though. I received mail notifying me when they received the films, and the picture album is available within 24 hours, I then received the pictures and the negatives within a few days. I do plan to try a few more times.

I always carry on film and it goes through the carry-on x-ray.

This year I purchased 2-disposable cameras that have 800 speed film for the kids and 1-35mm 800 speed 5pack. Should I request these to be hand checked? I thought I read somewhere that 800 speed could get ruited by any x-ray.

Also, I have a Kodak Water Sport camera, can't find the speed - I know I'm carrying it, but should I request the handcheck also for this???

Thanks.

That was also my understanding ... the lower speeds should be fine through x-ray but the higher speeds are questionable.

In my case, they are not willing to hand check in MCO.

MCO just doesn't seem to want to hand check film. My pictures (not from a disposable) turned out just fine, though. I wouldn't ever use a cheapy disposable--if I don't know what kind of film is in it (must be Fuji or Kodak for me to use it, AGFA is good film too but I don't know if they do disposables) I won't use it--better film gets you better pictures. Also, the Fuji or Kodak disposables usually have a better lens.

I just received my 2nd set of pictures from snapfish, the color is quite good. Both set were from disposable cameras, one is fuji and another is kodak. Both passed carry-on xray at MCO.

BTW, I bought my disposable cameras from Amazon. They were cheap. They were handy in TL, as I left my cameras in the bag most of the time.
