DisneyWORLD ???

I notice your name is Disneyland... will this be your first trip to WDW?

The quick answer is that the only one in true walking distance is the Contemporary Resort. But 1st timers often don't realize that the size of WDW is 47 square miles... that's the size of the island of Manhattan in NYC!! And the MK is just one park, with the other three parks not within walking distance at all. It's not really anything like the DL resort area, which has the city all around it.

Once you're on WDW property, you're really in your own world. But when you are within WDW, all the resort hotels are connected to the parks by bus, monorail, or boat. Once you're on one of those, it won't take more than 15-20 minutes to get to and from your resort and the parks.

Here's a good quick look at a WDW map, a little oudated but only slighty:

But the transportation system makes it super easy to visit... so if you're looking for convenience, I'd recommend you stay at one of the on-site resorts. HTH!

If you can afford it, and if you go to the Magic Kingdom the most, the Contemporary is within walking distance, and it's a great place to stay. The walk is less than 10 minutes.

Oh, I won't be going to Disneyworld for at least ten years. I had a baby three months ago and I want her to be old enough to remember the trip and appreciate the thousands my husband and I would be spending on going there. We're from NV, so Disneyland will have to do for the first several years. :sunny:

The Wilderness Lodge is just 5 mins by the Disney buses to the MK. It is great!

I hear you! My DS is four months old -- we've been to WDW before, but we're not going back until he's at least 5. But, since I've never been to DL, we're planning a trip in 2008! I't never too early to plan, especially when you're saving up the money like our family is! :)

all Disney resorts have a pretty nice transportation system.

so it doesn't matter you stay on Disney property - the MK is only a bus, boat or monrail ride away.

now if you want off site - there are some nice places to stay around half the price (okay not the values - but the others). with more room.

but you need a car to do offsite.
