I was just reading in Vacation Magic about the photographer who'll meet you in a park and take pics of your family.
Has anyone used this service? Would you recommend it, and the really cheeky question of course...... How much was the sitting fee?

Thanks

My husband and I had a Disney Photographer take our portraits at Grand Floridian last February. I don't remember the exact cost - I believe under $300. as we purchased the pkg. where we were able to keep all proofs. It was well worth it, the photos turned out beautiful. The photographer did tell us she did not think it was worth it to buy the pkgs. where someone follows you in the parks...I can't remember her reasoning. Somewhere (I couldn't find it) you can call and get a price list and talk to someone about the pkgs. I did find asking a lot of questions to be sure of what I was getting for the $$ was worth it as some were not as 'inclusive' as others. I think as a DVC member we get a 10-15% discount, you may find where to call on the benefits page.

Since DBF is a photojournalist, I guess I bring my own Disney photographer.:p

He thinks photographers are a ripoff and says that ANYBODY can take great pictures at WDW because there is so much to work with. Unfortunately a lot of people don't know little tricks like -when taking pictures of people, get in close; always put a person in your picture otherwise you get home with what he calls "evidence photos". They are proof you went there, but you won't relive the experience. I found this site that may help with picture taking techniques as well.

Whether you choose to hire a photographer or do it yourself, I hope you have a fun time!!!!!!

We used Disney Photographic Services this past January for a family portrait. I believe the regular sitting fee was $275 and with our DVC discount we were charged $247.50. Our location of choice was OKW. The photographer met us at the resort and spent about an hour with us taking family and individual photos of our family of 5. He gave us a password to the online viewing of our photos and about 10 days later we were able to see our proofs online. There were about 40 proofs available to choose from. About 3-4 weeks later we received the original proofs via Fed-Ex. Twelve of the 5X5 proofs were mounted in a display album and the remainder were packaged neatly in a box. I have since ordered a 16 X 20 mounted/touched up family portrait for $182.50. I have purchased frames and given some of the proofs to family & friends as gifts. I have also framed a selection of the proofs in a collage type frame for hanging. Compared to photographer & portrait pricing in the DFW area, I felt that the price I paid for on location portraits was a fair deal. The portraits are beautiful and a delightful reminder of our favorite family vacation spot. When we made our appt and discussed our location, we were given the choice of most resorts on property and MK & Epcot. We discussed MK, and the photographer felt like the best time at MK to avoid other people in the portrait was very early in the day and he said he usually shoots in the rose garden or around the castle where Belle has storytime. We felt that OKW would be a more relaxed atmosphere for us which would in turn produce a better product. We were not disappointed, the OKW backgrounds are beautiful.
