Can anyone tell me about Disneyworld in December? We are planning a trip for my daughter's birthday and I am wondering how busy it will be and what the weather may be like. I'm guessing it won't be very busy since it will be the first full week in December and school will be in session.

Hi
We did WDW last December form the 2nd to the 16th staying off site.
This was my third trip to Orlando and I was so surprised how quiet all the none Disney parks were. The waiting time for the rides at Universal IOA was no more than 15 minutes without the Express pass if you get there early.
Disney however was a little different. I still thought that MK was quite busy but the other 3 were lovely to stroll around. The first week was really warm but the second week I wish that I had brought warmer clothes with us as it fell to early 60's. Once you were in the sun though it was fine but early on my advice is wrap up warm.
Do not miss Mickey's Very mERRY cHRISTMAS pARTY. Friday's sell out first but as yet the tickets aren't on sale.www.disneyworld.com/parkevents is the link to check out whne they become available.
Also the Osbourne Family lights at MGM is really good. Be warned though it gets very busy as most people head over here after Fantasmic.
Must say I was glad to get home to the cold as it didn't seem right seeing Xmas trees amongst palm trees.
Have a fab time ::MinnieMo

We did early December in 2003. I loved it and am returning for another December trip this year. Avoid MK on Saturdays...that was the only time we saw it busy at all. We walked on almost everything in all the parks :cool1: . The thing is, though, we avoid EMH days and always get very lucky with the crowds.

The weather can be unpredictable. On our trip, it was around 70 and sunny during the days, but the nights got chilly. Only one of our nights was downright cold :cold: .

The Christmas decorations are beautiful!

Dec was awesome. and empty. MK always is crowded in Fantasyland but we were able to see and do everything with out pushing. It was mighty cold for swimming though. It was like we had our own personal lifeguard the pools were so quiet. But the decorations were great and the additional holiday programs were super. Depending on DD age - I would think twice about MVMCP. DD was pooped after at day at the park (almost 5) she pretty much slept through it. She thought the parade was too long - it did have alot of older type characters that weren't relevant to her. Gingerbread house decorating at BC was a big hit! (and a bargain IMHO). Please feel free to ask any Dec questions. We were there for 9 days.

We have gone in December many times, and were in Disneyworld this past December from the 12th through the 20th. We love going this time of year for the Christmas decorations, MVMCP is a must, and the Osborne Lights and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot was so beautiful.

One big word of advice, bring many different layers of clothes and a warm winter coat, hat, mittens etc. We are from Chicago so we are used to the cold, but boy, we sure didn't expect the COLD weather we got this past December in Disneyworld. We had 3 nights in the 30's and we FROZE our bottoms off. My 2 year old ended up getting sick with the flu and so did the rest of us. We had to extend our trip a few extra days since we were all to ill to fly. Not the best trip we have had, but we will probably consider going down to WDW in October since it is much warmer. The highs were only in the high 50's low 60's the entire week we were there. But the 30's was just awful at night. We didn't plan for the cold, so we didn't have very warm coats, gloves, or hats, so we had to buy what ever we could find. Didn't wear shorts at all, so if you are going in December just follow the weather up until you leave. Since Florida has so much humidity in the air, those 30's at night felt even colder in Florida than they do in Chicago, because our air is so dry. The dampness goes right through you! If you are prepared for cold, you will have a great time. I just wish we were smarter in our packing, so we didn't feel so cold all the time!

A few year ago, we did go the first week in December at it was in the high 60's low 70's a few days, but it does get cold at night!!!

early december is a great time to visit wdw, tons of special events like mickeys very merry christmas party, the candlelight processional & santas around the world and all the fabolous christmas decor. also through december 19th? is value season so its a great savings on your room rate.

We are going for the first time this Dec too & I can hardly wait! Even just being able to see the parks & hotels all decked out gets me :goodvibes
Certainly don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Osbourne Family Light display in MGM, AK has a special parade & Epcot has the candle light precessional & the Santas around the world. It should be such a magical time to go!
I believe the DIS board has a few pages desiganated for the holidays in WDW. :earsboy:
