DisneyWorld for 11 and 13 yo?? How much fun~~

My 2 oldest is 11 and 13... I just wondered how much fun is DisneyWorld for kids that age??? We all went last when they were 7 and 9 and they had a blast but they are a little older now and just worried that they might not enjoy it as much... My youngest will be 7 and Im not worried about her.. I know she will have the time of her life!! she didnt get to go with us in 2000 so this will be new to her...

I already looked at the teen board but didnt really see anything that would help.. hoping for comments from some parents of kids around that age..

I figure once they get there they will turn into a little kid again just like I did

my kids 13, 12, 11 and 7 go about every 6 mos and they love it...the rides regular and the goofy kids rides even...the millionare show at MGM is their absolute favorite...they love trying to get into the hot seat...they have made it a number of times...

We have gotten to the point that they take radios and split from us for a while to do there own thing....but they are very responsible and polite....

I think they will still enjoy it.

I do remember my cousins at the age really wanting to "ditch" the family and hang out at the pool alone.

I just read your question to my DDs 15 and 9, they started laughing!! Of course they will have a GREAT time!

I think on our upcoming trip the two older DD's 15 and 14 will want to split from us for a while though As long as they are in the same park I don't mind, we all have cell phones to keep in touch. They will need to hang with their "old mom" once in a while, I will need to take some pictures of them!! I don't think that will be a problem though!! GO AND HAVE FUN!!

You can always go to Universal/IOA as well. My kids started preferring those to WDW around that age....we always do both now.

I am 13 this year and we have gone for the last few years and are going again this year and although it is Mickey and Minnie and stuff, there are things like Rockin Roller Coaster. They willl have fun if you don't spend too much time doing the same thing. Also, you could take them to Blizzard Beach for a good time but it sometimes gets crowded. I hope this helped.



p.s. Universal Studios and Island of Adventure is a great place for kids old and young-- EX. My 15 yr old brother and 17 yr old sister love it as much as my 10yr old sister and my 7 yr old brother

I think it depends alot on whether it's boys or girls. Unfortunately, alot of preteen/teenage boys (mine included) seem to outgrow WDW. I have learned to add non park things that he will enjoy. I agree that they would probably love Universal. My DS(12) does. Have a great trip!

DS14 loves WDW and DLR and always has! DH and I will split up and do different things with both kids (DD is 3), so everything gets covered, so to speak. I think his favorite things are Disney Quest and the roller coasters
He also likes looking at all the stuff in the shops (well, except for the housewares type places LOL), and just people watching. I wouldn't worry about it, your kids will have a good time!

Do you mean that the 13 and 12 year old go off by themselves to ride things without you? My older two are 13 and 11 and I told them that the next time we go to Disneyworld, they could ride TOT while I take the younger two to see Beauty & the Beast show. I was planning to give them 3 sets of Fastpasses (their 2, plus mine, DH, and two DSs) to keep them busy during the show. Are the parks safe enough to let them go alone for half an hour to 45 minutes?

You forgot to look at the other side of the coin. They could turn out to be like us DISers who love Disney a little too much (is there such a thing?) Some of us are in our 20's, 30's, 40's, and up and we're nuts about Disney! If we aren't old, they aren't! You never know, they might thank you a few years from now when they're on their 150th trip to Disney, for starting the trip tradition for them.

We're heading to Disney in June 05 and there seem to be good kids clubs for our younger two, but are there supervised evening activitites for our thirteen-year-old? I'm sure she won't mind hanging by the pool by herself, but just wondering if there was anything special. We'll be at the Polynesian.
Also, are there any nightclubs that a teen can attend with her parents?

I am 15 and love going to WDW. Some kids my age dont understand why I would like going so much. I took my friend for his first trip to disney last november. He loved it, he is coming to visit me here in mississippi and we are going to WDW again. He loves it and so do I! Your kids will love it to,
