June 14, 2009...
We left Seaworld very late. We were some of the last people out of the park. After we left there we decided to head over to Barona Casino and play for a little while. DH hit a jackpot but I didn’t play much since our DS20 was with us. It was the first time our son was in a casino. In Vegas you have to be 21, but here you could play at 18. He didn’t want to play so he hung out with me and kept me company. We walked around a bit and we were amazed at all the young people who looked younger than him that were playing table games. I’m sure they were carded, but yeah, it’s strange to see. So after that, we headed back to DL. IIRC, we got back pretty late or rather early in the morning. So we’re driving up the freeway when all of a sudden we see signs saying Harbor Blvd was closed. No problem, we figured we’d just get off on Katella. Right. Every entrance to Harbor was blocked off due to some kind of race that was happening. There was no way to get to our hotel at FFI. We called and they couldn’t tell us what to do. We even called Hojos thinking they would know what to do and how to get in there. But no. No one could tell us how to get back to the hotel – not the police officers who blocked everything off, not the hotels, no one. We went around and around. Suddenly, I saw cars pulling off the freeway onto Harbor, so I told my DH to get back on the freeway and turn off on Harbor. Of course being a man, he had to argue with me because everyone said Harbor was closed, even the freeway sign said that! Let’s just say we had a heated discussion and I, er, we all won. He got back onto the freeway, there was the Harbor blvd closed sign, we got onto the Harbor exit anyway, and low and behold, we were on Harbor and able to make a U-Turn by the crosswalk to DL and that’s how we ended up getting back to our hotel. Mind you, this was after we spent an unnecessary 2 hours driving round and round the DL area, debated stopping for eating, couldn’t find anyplace that appealed to us, etc., etc. What a nightmare. We were all beyond exhausted. It was now almost 6:30am, people were getting up for MM and we were just getting back to the hotel. We went to eat a Millie’s since we were all starving. We were the only ones in there! The food was decent; typical coffee shop food.
So we slept in….Then, when I got up I remembered that all my SD cards were full. I had 2 8gigs, 2 4 gigs and a 2gig and they were all full. (I shoot RAW+JPEG fine in case I’m feeling too lazy to Post process the photos, so it fills up fast!) Now, normally, I would’ve uploaded them to my laptop. However, my laptop HD was also almost full. Uh oh… So I ask DH if he can take me to go get another SD card. We decided to go look for a decent waterproof camera for me too while we were at it. Back home, there was no place that sold the waterproof camera that I wanted. We spent the afternoon looking around for stuff. We went to Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club. For some reason, we ended up way off in another county. All I know is we drove way past Fullerton to get to Best Buy and then once there, they only had an unknown name Class 4 16g SDHC card for $149 which I said to heck with that! Then we went to Wal-Mart. They had a Class 4 16gig SDHC card for $49. Later I found another at Sam’s Club for $32. Geesh, should’ve just gone to Sam’s. We were running short on time, so I didn’t want to go back and return the other one at Wal Mart so I sucked it up and dealt with it. I kept the more expensive card. Oh Well…We headed back to the hotel but Dh wanted to stop off at Target. They didn’t have anything I wanted… Once back at the hotel, we unloaded our treasures (they didn’t have the waterproof camera I wanted btw at any of the stores…) and grabbed all my camera stuff and headed back to DL. I couldn’t believe that it was already around 7:45pm! It was so bright out obviously because it’s Summer…but what a trip. We slept in too long but we were exhausted and then we shopped too long – no excuse for that!
Took a couple of quick snapshots of Main Street on the way in….Look at the sea of people…:
It was pretty busy today, but we expected that as we were so late getting there…
I like this shot…
Another shot where I had to hold the camera up to avoid all the people…
We walked through Adventureland:
Whoa! Look at all the people in Adventureland!
The line for Bengal BBQ wrapped around a couple of times…Probably the shortest line in the park!
We passed Tarzan’s treehouse. We’d been in it on our last trip. It’s cute!
And this is what we saw as we walked toward the restrooms near New Orleans Square, Yikes!:
If anyone is ever wondering about what time they need to go get a spot for F!, let me tell you that this shot was at 7:50pm and all these people were either lined up, or trying to find a spot, for the 9pm showing of F!
Yeah, it’s safe to say it was pretty much wall to wall people…
So after potty break, we headed into my all time favorite must do ride/attraction, POTC!
As we stood in line, I snapped a couple of shots off…
I love the lanterns…
And one of favorite parts of the ride, right before the drop, when you know it’s gonna happen!
2 be continued…
