Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Ninja Mom checking in.

Next week Hubby and I are taking the boys to Universal Orlando. We are taking one of their mutual friends with us and we booked the suite that sleeps 6 at Cabana Bay. We recently found out that their other good friend and his family is going down on the same flight as us and staying at Sapphire Falls. That's across the street from Cabana Bay where we are staying.

So if you are at Universal and you see 6 boys, running at top speed, as far and as fast as they can away from a Mom, then that would be my group. NM is in top physical condition right now so I can keep up with them no problem. They may not realize that so it will be a surprise! Mwa ha, ha!

The last time I took them to a water park good ol' NM did way more water slides then they did. I was booking it up the stairs while they were floating in the lazy river, clucking like hens at each other... :sad2:. I have a feeling I am going to have trouble getting them out of the pool.

Since I know Dee will ask, we are planning on hitting CowFish, Margaritaville and Finnegans. We are considering Emeril's but the service and food have been getting poor reviews. Toothsome is charging entree prices for their desserts so if we go there it will probably only be for ice cream. I doubt that anyone will be able to eat an entree and one of those giant desserts in the same sitting so I'm thinking this would not be the place to take teens boys that over order food that they can't always finish, even with their appetites.

It is so odd to plan a trip to Orlando and not have it be at Disney. I might have to wear a magic band just to keep my equilibrium. This trip will definitely be the "happy wanderer" type of trip. Wish me luck with 5 guys in the hotel room. I'm bringing the economy size jug of Poo Pourri. Hopefully that will be enough to survive this trip.

Have a great time! If you've never been, try to check out the dragon breathing fire in Diagon Alley after dark. It's really impressive.

I made it! Checked into YC CL this morning. The rooms look fabulous! I took lots of pics but probably won't be able to get them up until I get home. Definitely heard construction under my room when I got back around 4. It stopped around 5. Happy to take pics or scope out info if anyone needs it.

No luck on the refurbed room! I was told 5th floor is done, 4th floor is in process and should be done by summer, the rest by the end of the year.

It's easy to tell from outside at night which areas have been refurbed, as you can see the enormous new TVs in them!

If they are doing the 4th floor now, do you really think it will take an extra 5 months to finish just the 4th floor? That seems really slow to me but maybe not, just wondering.

Hey guys so I may be heading down to Disney this July for a stay at the Yacht Club club level. I know the rooms on that floor are done or at least mostly done but does anyone have more info regarding the showers? I would prefer to have just the shower, no tub. I would need a room with 2 queens but I don't know if they have the stand up showers exclusively for the king bed rooms.

I haven't heard definitively if it is only king bed rooms have just the shower or if some of queen rooms have that set up as well. It will be interesting to see whether the bedding configurations have changed in any of the rooms.

A gluten free donut?! Was that a part of the CL offerings for allergy requests? I know this is an old post but we have a GF family member and a GF donut during CL breakfast would THRILL her!

At the very end of the Dining Post 7 on Page 1, I am trying to compile info and articles about dining with food allergies/issues at both the Yacht & Beach resorts specifically and Disney in general.

I am guessing that you have to request the donut, but make sure that your dining restrictions are added to your reservation and mention it when you check in to see what is available to you and how/when you need to ask.

Here are a couple of posts that pertain to GF guests staying at CL:

For guests staying club level with gluten-free diets-Club level has an allergy toaster in the kitchen for people with gluten issues. They toast your stuff there before they bring it to you onstage.

From HockeyMomR, June 2015
" I also have a gluten allergy (and hashimoto's thyroiditis) was diagnosed a while ago but have been 100% gluten free since last September. Lounge CM's and chef were great in pointing me towards gluten free options. They will bring you special gluten free cookies / brownies upon request, these were simply delicious. The chef also volunteered to prepare shrimp or chicken gluten free during evening offerings. I appreciated the offer, but was fine with things already provided. Only bummer is the homemade chips are not gluten free but I found many other options especially in the mornings."

I have to eat gluten free, did you request the doughnut on the spot? Or did they have them readily available? Just curious for an upcoming May trip. When we stayed club level at BC, they brought me an entire loaf of bread for toast each morning
Thanks!

Edit/ Sorry. I see this was an old post. I did not read correctly. Been a long day.

Ninja Mom, have a great time. Bring a Magic Band on case you have to make a quick escape to the happiest place on Earth.

We are sneaking in a night there before heading to BW Villas in May. Staying at Royal Pacific.

When I was there in 2015, i picked up some gluten free treats in the Beach Club Marketplace to take to a friend. They were prepackaged. I asked a castmember where they were. I think they were brownies and cookies.

It sounds like a lot of fun. It's too bad we won't be in Orlando at the same time. I think we will miss you by a week. :(

We will warm up the place for you. As an added bonus we will chase away the rain and leave a trail of sunshine and refreshing breezes.

That sounds like a drink.... "Trail of Sunshine & refreshing breezes" Ingredients: 1 liter of anejo rum, Mango juice, pineapple juice, Limoncello (to cut the sweetness and obliterate your cares away) and a whole jar of maraschino cherries. Add ice and a giant straw like they use for bubble tea, only it's even bigger so you can get those cherries. Now you're set!

I'll check with my friend HockeymomR about the process for getting the doughnut and post back in a day or so.

Good morning from the Beach Club!! We are having a wonderful time and the weather has been great!! It is supposed to rain on Sunday and Monday ( we head home Monday) so we are going to enjoy the pool this afternoon. Not sure if it has been mentioned but Rocky no longer works at the pool, she is over at the ESPN Club! I always loved talking to her . We have also seen life guards going around picking up towels off the chairs after they ask those around if anyone has been sitting in them .
My mom really enjoyed the tour, she said it was very interesting !!

Just wanted to pop in to do my 60 day happy dance! :cool1: Can't WAIT to be back at the YC!

Got FP+ all set, although pickings were slim for this trip, seemed like there was much more of a selection for our trip last September! Not sure if this is just the FP+ system being dumb or if we just picked a busy week in May! Either way, we got most of what we wanted so we're happy!

I interpreted the "by x" as the usual vagueness, and certainly it could be a lot sooner!!

Ugh--our 60 days for FP+ is tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed that we are able to get what we want. :sad2:

I just asked one of the concierge attendants. My son has Celiac so I get it. GF items by request at breakfast but still plenty of items like fruit, cheese, meat, eggs. Evenings chef will be happy to come up & discuss options. Hope that helps.

Please post pics when you return home! I am waffling between YC and BC because I prefer YC, but I'm really not liking the design of the new rooms. I keep hoping I will see some new pics that will make me change my mind.
