Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Here are photos posted on the disboards facebook group of a test room for the yacht club refurb. Not sure I like it. Very plain and contemporary.

Thanks so much for sharing this post with the photos.

I looked quickly and here are my initial reactions:

Room looks sleek, but I didn't see a single Disney touch. Maybe I missed it. Maybe in artwork. That would be a shame.

Microwaves in the room? Cool! Keurig coffee makers- the jury is out. I prefer a drip coffee maker where you can brew several cups at once. And I'm not wild about the wastefulness of the k-cups unless they are recycled.

I liked the constellation curtains

It looks like there is a lot of storage. I liked the set up of the closet.

Someone commented on the FB thread that there is no tub. That would be bad, I think.

My guess is this is only one room type. Not everyone needs or wants a tub. I'm sure that could become a new request or part of the accessible rooms.

I agree about Keurig makers :( I'm wondering if it will be noisy with that type of flooring.

My kids mostly shower now at 9, 7 & 7, but every. Single. Time we visit WDW in the winter someone ends up with sickness - noro, bronchitis you name it. Nothing is like sinking into hot water when ill. A tub is a must for us.

What page is a picture of the renovated YC rooms on? We are coming down and spending 5 nights at the YC, arriving 8/22 and then 4 nights to the GF. Super excited. Can't wait to see what
the YC rooms look like.

Link to a face book group with pictures is a few posts up. But if anyone can post the photos, those of us not on Facebook would appreciate it!

From what I could see without a Facebook account: looks like a staged room in a house for sale. I like the color scheme & the headboards. I'm not sure about the flooring. It looks like what they have in the club lounge & it is very attractive. I prefer rugs tho & as previous poster said, I can't imagine how loud it will be with a room full of active kids. And how can you have a family centered resort without tubs?? Can't just be a request, what happens if you have toddlers & don't get your request?? Unless Disney's intent is to discourage families from booking YC?

I copied the pictures from the Facebook page to my computer, but I am not part of this Facebook group and I don't know the person who posted them. I don't want to post them unless I have the permission of the person who took them.

Thank you for posting the link, I am considering a couple of nights at the YC. I like the beds and curtains but hate the look of the wardrobe/storage, is just looks poor quality, like a DIY put it together at home type of thing, maybe I am being a bit unfair, perhaps the photo doesn't do it justice and it is far better in reality? I also don't think the wood floor is the best idea, at least carpet cushions some noise from rooms above. Sorry to say I am disappointed and much prefer the BC decor.

looking for reports about the 3 quiet pools- are any of them undergoing refurbishment or are they open for swimming currently? Are they all fenced in now? Hours???

We were in a YC room facing the quiet pool last week, and it was open. I saw someone swimming in it early Sunday morning as I drank my coffee on the balcony. It was fenced in.

I'm torn on the new YC rooms. They look sleek and elegant, but I'd like to see a few more nautical touches (love the curtains) and of course a hint of Mickey and pals. Let's see what they look like hopefully w/artwork and finishing touches. Remember the newly renovated BC rooms only have the picture of Mickey and Minnie on the wall and the Mickey heads integrated into the shower curtain. I know this one has no shower curtain, but I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if Disney took tubs out of an ENTIRE resort and I think the last thing Disney would EVER do is discourage families from staying at ANY of their resorts, so I think that potential conversation needs to be thrown out the window immediately! I'm sure the shower stall will be available in SOME rooms, but not all.

We are staying at the YC the end of August for 4 nights before going to the GF for 4 nights. Should the rooms be renovated at the YC by then? We stayed at the BC this past August and loved the rooms however we really want a full balcony and figured we try the YC but don't want an old room. Do you think we should stay with the YC?

When I heard modern and plain, I though I would love the new yc rooms but nope. I think the furniture looks bad 80s and the bed scarf needs to did the the beige i love the flooring but agree that could be bad noise-wise. And the lack of bath could be a real issue for families with young children. The storage does look amazing. If you just took the cheap gold trim off the furniture, it would look better. Pretty bathrooms

Just an observation... No posts here yesterday!

Now we are back on Page 1.

I just booked Sept 2-10 as well! So excited!! :) :)

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15).

Beach Club?

:cool1:

Maybe a hit or miss thing at all the resorts. The first half of our October trip to POFQ we didn't have one the first 3 days it showed up on day 4.

Maybe next year. Finally got new music this year at POFQ's pool, it had the same on our trips from 2009 to 2015.

:welcome: to the thread!

Thank you so much for your input on my questions.

:thumbsup2

I just contacted my TA about booking a room for next August. I haven't mentioned specifics to my husband, just a generalized "wouldn't it be fun to go back down in August?"

Love it!

I am beyond excited, hubby finally said "lets book it"! Can you say early christmas present? Oh yah! We are officially staying at BCR August 15-23! A big surprise for the kids!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

I am not willing to place any bets on the completion of the renovation of the YC rooms, especially since the work has not even started.

If I recall correctly, the standard room renovations for the BC went from January 2015 to late August 2015, for floors 1- 4 . The club level rooms had already been refurbished.

I seriously doubt that the renovation will be finished by August, but I am hopeful it will be well on its way.

If the refurbished rooms at the YC will indeed have showers, only, that means that they have to remove and fill in the tub area, in order to install the new shower stalls. That has to add additional time to the schedule.

As the photos also show closet units, instead of the current closets with sliding doors, there will be extra demo and installation. With laminate flooring, in lieu of the existing broadloom carpet, the old carpeting will need to be taken up and the floor prepped, in order to receive the new flooring; this also tacks on additional time to the schedule.

Unless there are larger crews, than used at the BC, I believe it will take a bit longer to complete all of the work.

The work is scheduled to commence in January, according to onsite sources.

I think everyone, well maybe some of us [including me] were over on the RunDisney Marathon Weekend 2017 thread as waivers came out yesterday. We're less than three weeks away so things should calm down soon! I'll try to do a better job of multi-tasking!
