Only y'all will understand the panic I felt this evening as DH was talking about our trip..."You know, we've never really gotten to spend a lot of time at the water parks - maybe we should go twice."

So, I calmly explained that we would be there for an ENTIRE day (in years past we only went 1/2 day) and that if he really wanted to do that, I'd need to add it to our tickets now. (We have convention tix thru our TA that we can't really upgrade once we get there.) I refrained from passionately telling him that I have carefully crafted every day of our trip and that he was about to throw all my hard work into disarray!

This, of course, after I've asked him on more than one occasion if there was any thing he'd really like to do or any special requests...Bless his heart!

Fortunately, I think I talked him out of it...without having to bring out my crazy Disney Planner side.

That's how I felt when, a few weeks ago, my grandparents (who live in Daytona) thought they might "come down to Shades of Green for a night to see [my toddler]. You can come visit us at the hotel for a day, right?" I, of course, said yes, whatever you guys want to do, we'll figure it out but thank god they decided against it! I didn't not have a day to "hang out at Shades of Green" in my plans!!

3 weeks today! Question to those in the know. How are the BC management with guest decorating their balconies with fairy lights?

I've seen it done often at CR. Just wanted to gauge the feeling with you guys first

I have no idea? I would say, put 'em up until you are told you need to take them down.

I always bring a little reading light for the early morning hours and I always forget to ask someone at the resort.

There's no switch to turn on the overhead balcony light, at least that I have been able to find.

I don't think they all stay on or go off overnight- look at this photo.

I do see that the rooms that are lit up have a solid overhang rather than an awning.

I would love to have a room that had the balcony light, but then again, would it be so bright that it could disrupt sleep?

That was my thinking. Theres an article on TP Blog and they said only AKL has outside hanging restrictions.

I would love to have a room that had the balcony light, but then again, would it be so bright that it could disrupt sleep?

When we were at the BC in October our daughter's room had a balcony light that stayed on all night. Her room was the last one on the row, at the corner of two wings. We were in the room right next door and our light didn't stay on all night. She hated the light because it made the room too bright, even with the curtains closed.

I have seen lights on a balcony at the BC. It was a balcony that was near the lagoon side entrance to the lobby and was easily visible.

They must have been battery operated or solar, since there aren't any outdoor outlets on the balconies.

The Magical Express ride left the airport at 9:51 and arrived at YC at 10:38. Door to Door: 47 minutes. The bus we took was already pretty full when we arrived, so we didn't have much of a wait before it left.

That's happy news. I don't know if we'll partake in the movies, but it's good to know they're there if the kids need a down night. Much better children's selection than October.

Yes first floor. I don't remember exactly but I believe the light was on all night.

Beach Club folks -- family of four (including DD10 and DD12) staying in a Deluxe room at BC... recommendations on which room we should request? I think proximity to the lounge is probably most important, followed by view. We don't like the idea of staying on the first floor.

The great room we had from our recent trip was 3135. Had to look it up from the e mail that said your room is ready.

I havent done the resort survey yet. That is still in my in box too.

We are planning to go back Dec. 13-19 but doubt we can afford the YC but we will prob go to Cape May for dh christmas crab coma and so I can enjoy the chocolate carousel.

As Wood Nymph said, you can get a continental style breakfast including muffins, croissants, bagels?, oatmeal and even Mickey waffles at the Ale & Compass lounge in the YC lobby, starting at 6 am.

I don't think many people decorate their balconies, but as far as I know, the practice is not prohibited by the resort. It has been recently noted that there are no electrical outlets on the balconies, so lights or other decorations need to be battery operated or solar.

I believe I have some detailed descriptions of the 6 BC Deluxe Rooms in Post 12 of this thread, but the DIS is acting pretty wonky for me right now. If it starts behaving again before I leave for work, I'll post the info here.


ETA:

There are six Deluxe Concierge Rooms at BC.

1557 has a patio and lots of windows.
2557 and 4557 have extra large balconies.
3557 has the standing room only balcony.

3691 has both a standing room balcony and a full balcony
4691 has a standing room only balcony.

So 3 of the 6 have full balconies, 1 has a patio, and 2 have standing room only balconies.

Dee, do you remember what time your plane landed? So how long it was from landing til you arrived at YC? We usually take a car service but thought we'd give Magical Express a try for the first time next month. We love how quick & easy a car service is, but the last 2 trips, the wait for our luggage at the carousel has been awful. In September, we were standing there waiting for about 40 minutes! We've been meaning to try ME so this last minute "budget" trip is the perfect time to try it out.

We usually take a car service but thought we'd give Magical Express a try for the first time next month. We love how quick & easy a car service is, but the last 2 trips, the wait for our luggage at the carousel has been awful. In September, we were standing there waiting for about 40 minutes! We've been meaning to try ME so this last minute "budget" trip is the perfect time to try it out.

I texted my son as soon as we were able to when the plane landed. That was 9:17 am. It was 34 minutes between when we landed and when the bus left- which included getting off the plane (we were in row 4, so that was fairly quick), a stop at the restrooms, taking the tram and walking to Magical Express.

We were loaded onto a bus right away and it was fairly full, so we left right away. The big factor in wait time is how long you are waiting to get on the bus, and how long it takes to fill it up so they can leave.

The bus ride took 47 minutes, with the stops at CBR, BWI, BC and then our final stop at the YC.

So from wheels down to the door of the YC took an hour and 21 minutes.
