Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

For anyone who has been the week BEFORE Thanksgiving- is the resort decorated for Christmas and are there PhotoPass photographers in the lobby? (Someone asked on the TPAS board about resort photographers in general, so it got me thinking...) Also, a little OT, but related question: has anyone done photos with Santa at Disney Springs and what was your experience?
The Lottery dictates when but the Saturday after T-day would be the drop dead date. Chances are the day before T-day would be okay too. There are no photopass photographers at the YC or BC that I have seen during the weeks immediately after T-day. I have only found them at the GF and WL in prior years the weeks immediately after T-day. However, cast members do take great pictures using your camera if they aren't too busy. Santa at Disney Springs is nice but a long line during busy times.

I have a parking and pool question. I know the monorail resorts have really cracked down to keep people from taking advantage of free parking and then going to a park. My dad and his girlfriend will be staying at POFQ while we are at Beach Club, and they've offered to come watch our little one for an afternoon/evening while we go to Epcot and have a date night. Will they be allowed to park at Beach Club? If not we will pay for them to take an Uber both ways. Similarly, will they be allowed to take our daughter (she's 2) to the pool? I know they are really strict about that too, so I don't want to set them up for failure if there's no way that would be allowed. If not, does anyone have any other suggestions of what they could do? Does Beach Club have a playground?
Your parents at the quiet pool is acceptable and not out of line. There's always taking a boat ride or walking around the lake with the kid in the stroller. Would putt-putt be out of the question for your two-year old? I think my grandson could handle it. Just tell them to stay away from the BW pool area. That slide will give your kid nightmares For parking, tell the concierge your parents are coming. They can alert the guard station. Also have them use the valet parking, it's really convenient and you can charge it to your room.

Thank you! Good to know that there is no playground. Luckily there seems to be a lot of options even without the pool and a playground. I'm loving Beach Club already and we haven't even stayed there yet!

Oh, if it is a campfire night, they could do that, roast some marshmallows. If you go to Page 1, Post 4 (Resort Activities) look for the historical listing of activities calendars. It will give the approximate time of the campfire and movie during the month you are going.

We stayed at YC this past May. My oldest daughter lives in Orlando and came to visit us at the resort the day we checked in. She had no problem parking in the YC lot. I believe all she had to do was give our name and show her license and they let her right in, she was even able to park right next to us.

That's great to know, thanks!

Parking can be an issue, particularly at busy times (festivals at Epcot, holidays). But they could ask, and if no go, they can just ask to valet park -- which might be better than and probably is the same overall cost as Uber.

They could use the quiet pool. Unlike Storm Along Bay, where they check magic bands with no exceptions, it would be exceedingly rare for them to check MBs at the quiet pools. I'm a rule follower too. I would not be nervous about them using the quiet pool. But, she's little to enjoy a pool with no real kiddie portion. A walk over to ice cream on the Boardwalk would be a great idea. (or ice cream form Beaches and Cream window). She might be too young (i.e., after her bedtime) for the movie on the lawn -- but that's fun, even if only for a few minutes.

We are looking at doing this on 11/18, so Food & Wine will be over, and the holidays not yet started, at least at Epcot. I will give my dad a head's up that parking may not be possible and see what he is most comfortable with. My daughter absolutely adores being in the water, but the zero-entry at SAB is what she will love the most. She's not crazy about not having the freedom to get in and out as she pleases. I'm planning on her staying up later than usual, but if the movie doesn't start until 8p, you guys are right, that's too late. I was thinking it gets dark earlier in November, but I guess they don't change the movie times based on that. Great info, thank you!

Ooh, the November 2015 Activity Calendar says campfires every day at 6:30p. That might be perfect! Haha, assuming my dad wants to police my 2yo around an open flame...

Just wondering what the laundry facilities are like. We're going to be staying at Yacht Club at the end of August.
The one over at the quiet pool is quite nice very light and you can sit in one of the chairs just outside if you prefer. It's just next to the tennis courts so not that long of a walk from the main building. The machines are very efficient. We took snacks and drinks from our room to enjoy while the laundry got done. The peace is lovely and just right to enjoy a few chapters of a book while you wait.

I've heard that if you check with the Concierge and explain the situation, they may be able to give your dad access to SAB for that night. It's definitely not guaranteed, but it's worth asking if that's all your DD will want to do!

There is a playground at the clown pool at the Boardwalk. And the Dolphin resort has one, too.

I would think that your parents would be able to park at the BC. My sisters were able to park there when they were staying at CBR and they wanted to visit us in the BC villas. Your parents should give the guard your name and room number and explain the situation. They are very good to grandparents at the BC. ;) And you can always talk to a lifeguard ahead of time at SAB to see if they would allow your parents to babysit your child. You have nothing to lose. :) And it would help if you had a couple of extra MB's for them to use, too.

I seriously don't know why it didn't occur to me to just ask for permission at the BC once we are there. Seems obvious now! We definitely will do that, thank you!

Hi. I've changed my dates again! Well sort of!

I was due to check on on May 21st and was staying elsewhere the first 3 nights as BC wasn't available.

But....... All my daily checking on the website has paid off and the BC is now available for my full duration. Yey.

Check-in is now May 18th thru to June 1st. 2 whole weeks of heaven!!

Cannot wait to be there and for this year to be over. We so need this vacation!

We were there the week before thanksgiving in 2015. When we arrived on the magical express the Thursday before thanksgiving (exactly one week before) the escort told us most decorations went up that night before. We Watched the gingerbread carrousel being made that Thursday and Friday the week before thanksgiving too they were even giving out samples to eat!!

No photo pass people. Only at WL and GF that week.

Also Loved Santa at Disney springs, awesome! We have four kiddos and they took individual with each kid and Santa and then one of a group shot. Best Santa photos ever in our family.

Hi! We just added another 4 days onto our September and will be trying BCV for the first time (split with GF and Poly). Very excited! I think my kids will love it. We'll be there Sept. 17-21.

We were able to do online check in today and here are the options for the Beach Club:

Thanks!

I have not done the advanced checkin before because I have not been the lead on the past few vacations, so I have only seen these screens when posted. Did they used to have one page where you checked two options and now you have two pages. If you check "upper floor" does the "ground floor" option go away on the second screen?

Have they started customizing the checkin based on view type? I see Courtyard View- are you booked GV?

:goodvibes

We are booked standard view, so they don't seem to be based on booking type.

I'll try and get a screen print of what the check in page looks like know. It is very different then what it used to look like. The old check in had one box where you picked your room requests. The box had radio buttons (little round circles). Once you clicked an option you couldn't change it without calling IT to do it for you. Now there are two drop down menus and you can select one thing in each list.

No. You can select ground floor for option 1 and upper floor for option 2. But I can't select large balcony for both options. I can only request it once.

Here are the screen shots of what the check in page looks like now.

You have to click the "show details" button to see each section.

I already posted what each of the two option lists have in it.
