Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

To the moderator of this thread, can you remove us from the list of upcoming stays (we were booked at the BC standard view 8/16 - 8/25)?

I just found it difficult to justify the extra $900 over Pop Century, which is where we are now booked 8/23 - 9/1 (and hoping for free dining to come out maybe).

The magical deal was and is awesome, at $1900 for nine nights, but for $1000 we got Pop instead. I am spending way too much on medical bills here lately, and this trip was planned as a bonus mom/daughter getaway!

Thanks!

PS: I am sort of super envious of you folks booked at CL rooms here! Maybe next year for my 50th birthday!
Have a magical stay at POP, take care and early happy 50th!

Changed our arrival day flight and now need to figure dinner the first evening, arriving around 8:00/8:30 pm. Managed to get a Beaches and Cream at 10:30, which is definitely too late for my DS, 2. Although, he may be sound asleep in the stroller by then. Never been to Beaches and Cream and it's on the bucket list, but how's the Fountain? Or hurricane Hannah's (worried won't be open still or just serving drinks by then)?

We went to Crew's Cup the last trip and it was good but want to try something new. Alternatively, I have an AP and could run into Epcot WS for counter service meals.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I love the new look. The one bedroom is especially appealing to me with the warm color and dark wood. As far as the tub, I am not a big fan of the window pass through or jets in the other resorts. The deep tub looks more inviting after a long day in the park. I'm not too sure about the blue walls in the studio. This looks a little cold. My husband misses the ceiling fan, but I personally am glad it is gone. :ssst:

Have you tried to get an ADR at Captains Grille at the YC? The food is good and it has a nice, quiet atmosphere.

Bummer - we were going to be at BC together (I have the magical deal too, late August).

Your 50th isn't next year late Aug. too, is it? We would HAVE to meet up at BC (or any deluxe we get on the magical deal!) if so! (We go every late August.)

ETA I cannot believe I'm turning 50 next year! That's the 1st time I'm writing/realizing this!

Booked September 20-28th BC standard (magical deal). I was vacillating between CL garden view vs standard with DDP, and we decided DDP worked better with our current eating patterns.

We have touring plans for room views, but I would love a personal recommendation. We really want a king bed both for space purposes with a toddler and because we like it that way. Non-utility/roof/parking view would be a bonus, but obviously not expected. Any good room numbers to share?

Just wanted to show off the start of my new collection at work. Absolutely loving the new designed princesses, they don't all look the same, and it helps me get thru my Disney blues :).

@Ninja Mom ....what do you think?

Disneyprincesses_zps77swsuex.jpg

Love the dolls. They look great!

Ha! Yes, I love these new dolls. Looking at them, their faces are beautiful! You are right, I do need them! I really do!

Maybe JanetMom will enjoy them too!

Love them! Everything Ninja said is true. They are a wonderful improvement. What can I say, I love a good Disney doll!

I respect that you are a grown woman that plays with dolls. :thumbsup2

Every so often I walk through the Disney store at the mall because it makes me feel like I'm getting a tiny bit of vacation. I gotta admit, I go straight to looking at the dolls. I loved when they had the dolls from IASW.

After reading numerous posts and reviews, I still have a question regarding our 10 nights stay at the Beach Club and a gluten allergy (DH is celiac).

So, we are planning to stay 10 nights at BC and will not do any TS for breakfast this time. We will be hungry before park opening and do not want to prepare and eat breakfast in our room every day. Options seem very slim: Plastic eggs, dessert and maybe GF bagel at the Marketplace.

Anybody went through this?
Any solid options in the World showcase?
Maybe at the Swan and Dolphin?
Ideas beside using our own food?

I guess we were just lucky with our other resort choices in the past...

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you trying to decide whether to make FP at the park you will be at in the morning or in the afternoon/evening?

I think it depends on what time you are planning to get to the parks during the day. I always go to the early EMH park, so I know I will have a couple of hours during which FP won't matter. Then I either make the FP in the late morning or early afternoon if I am switching parks. It also depends on the park- if Toy Story is a priority, then make FPs at HS. We don't know what the FP situation with EPCOT will be in July, with Soarin' and Frozen opening, plus Test Track, so whenever you are going to EP, you may want to plan for them there. But it will be complicated if the opening dates are not finalized by the time you make your reservations.

:)

We are coming in on May 7th late so staying at All Star Sports for one night. The next morning we are moving to BC CL. We were planning on hopping a cab and transfer our luggage ourselves. Is it cheaper to use a cab or Uber? We have never used Über so I'm curious. Thanks!

Uber will be less expensive

::yes::

Just booked 9/1-9/7 at Beach Club! Super excited since last few visits we have done values. :D

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Of Course!!!

Thank you!

:goodvibes

Sort of off topic post - We leave three weeks today and I am starting my usual trip planning panic. I am obsessed with getting the best "snacks/treats" at each park which requires lots of research. The whole character meet and greet was new to me the last trip and I need to research those before we go. Yesterday I read easywdw and touring plans blogs and now I am panicked about the crowds. It sounds miserable right now and seems like Disney wasn't prepared. The photos and waits seem horrible. Our last trip, Saturday December 12, 2015, was suppose to be a 7 but ended up being higher and I told DH we had to be out of MK by noon since you couldn't move in MK. Worried this trip, May 5-10, will be the same...

Also, we are booked garden view YC. Always had standard or pool. I requested a high floor close to elevator. Anything else you would recommend? We've always lucked out and had a room with a view of Illuminations. There may or may not be fireworks at HS, but since the calendar has not been finalized yet, I don't know. Would I be able to see them from the other side/gazebo side? I know that is a common request for garden.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. still haven't decided if I'm going to try online check in but I am open to trying it this trip.

I love your quest for the best snacks!!! Hope you report back on what you liked or didn't like. Personally, although I love coconut, I was not a fan of the beloved school bread in Norway. Too sweet and dry when I got it.

Not sure what to tell you about the crowds. March/April can be busy with Easter, spring breaks and April vacation for the New England guests. I would suspect May would be less crowded than the preceding months because most schools are still in session. But that is all just a guess.

I think some of the garden view rooms that overlook the gazebo would have both Illuminations and HS fireworks views, probably the ones on the right side of the resort as you are looking at the lake. Have not stayed at YC yet, or studied the floorplans, so I don't know if there are elevators close to those rooms.

:goodvibes

At yahcht club I can verify 5163 does not have a balcony because I was in the room last weekend

:welcome: to the thread!

Thank you so much for posting the confirmation about that room.

Would love to be added to the BOG list for Nov 2016 :-) We're celebrating our dd's 21st b-day. Going to Universal, staying at Hard Rock Nov 6-10 then we are SO excited to be coming Nov 10-15 BC CL GV. Will be our first CL stay!

How fun that we get the last of Food & Wind AND the beginning of MVMCP!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Sounds like an AWESOME trip!!! We have had 3 stays at the Hard Rock and love it there. My "Hijinx" and "Freezing Florida" trip reports document two of those stays.

:wizard:

I am so happy to finally ask to be added to the BOG list for May 19-22 for the Yacht Club. We booked a garden view room with the ap discount. I only asked to be a little closer to the elevator.

Last year we had to cancel our May trip due to a blood clot I had in my leg, so I am really looking forward to swimming in Storm Along Bay. Dh and I will also celebrate our anniv. and my b day when we are there.

:wave2:

:welcome: back, my friend.

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

I am going to miss talking to Teena. I havent been on the thread in such a long time and saw she retired.

Captain's Grille is an excellent suggestion.

I also like your idea of running into EPCOT for a quick service meal. Great selections to be had at the Fish & Chips stand, France, Morocco and Japan, just a few steps away. I have done this several times, the biggest issue is that the restaurants usually don't have bags to carryout several meals, so you may want to bring your own.

:thumbsup2

As far as room requests, we recommend that you ask for what you want in words rather than room numbers. That way the room assigner knows what is important to you if the rooms you have requested are occupied during your stay. King beds are in limited supply at the resort, so that should be your primary request. Will you be requesting a full balcony?

"King Bed, please. Full balcony if possible"

As far as views, by definition, a standard view overlooks either the parking lot or will have a rooftop view. For a sample of views from various categories, visit the Beach Club room view thread.

I have not personally had to deal with a gluten allergy during family trip, but I have tried to compile information from others who are following a GF diet or have other allergy concerns.

Fruit is available at BC Marketplace (both whole and cut up), yogurt and oatmeal are also available. Not sure if these items are GF or not. The Ale & Compass may have some GF breakfast selections in the morning hours.

I don't think I have a more recent BC Marketplace Menu picture, this is from 2012, I believe. I haven't personally tried the eggs, so I can't comment on their quality.

Dining at the Yacht and Beach Club for Guests with Special Dietary Restrictions

Review of the Beach Club Marketplace from the The Disney Food Blog
Lots of information about ingredients in the baked good and links to resources within Disney for families with food allergies or special dietary needs.

AllergyFreeMouse, tips and contact info for helpful resources

I also came across http://www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com/ , which has good resources for those dealing with dairy and gluten sensitivities, while at WDW.

There is some very useful info posted, such as http://www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com/dining-resources/menus/ , which displays restricted-diet menus available at some resorts and parks.

If you have any tips about dining safely at the resort for people with food allergies, gluten-free diets or lactose intolerance, please share them on the main thread and I will post the info here. Thanks!

From Wood Nymph, April 2014

"We had breakfast twice at the Captain's Grill and I was able to get gluten free Mickey waffles one morning and gluten free toast another morning. Both times I had ordered the breakfast buffet, which also had plenty of gluten free choices."

From nadira36, September 2014
"AK has a special diets kiosk just passed Flame Tree BBQ House - they have Gluten-free beer, baby-cakes and other gluten-free and dairy free offers. They can also let you know about allergy friendly offers around the park - the more people who use it there, the more likely the other parks get their own kiosk."

From HockeyMomR, June 2015
" I also have a gluten allergy (and hashimoto's thyroiditis) was diagnosed a while ago but have been 100% gluten free since last September. Lounge CM's and chef were great in pointing me towards gluten free options. They will bring you special gluten free cookies / brownies upon request, these were simply delicious. The chef also volunteered to prepare shrimp or chicken gluten free during evening offerings. I appreciated the offer, but was fine with things already provided. Only bummer is the homemade chips are not gluten free but I found many other options especially in the mornings."

From Best Aunt, August 2015
"Gluten-free goodies in Beach Club Marketplace:

In the refrigerator section where they have the cupcakes, they had the four pack of brownie bites with frosting. I believe they try to call these "cupcakes" in other parts of WDW. In the past I have also seen them at Boardwalk Bakery, the allergy food kiosk at Animal Kingdom theme park, and the refrigerated grab and go section of The Mara counter service restaurant of Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House.

There also were several types of gluten free individuallly packaged cookies. I think I bought two different types of chocolate chip cookies. These were on the end of the counter where you would order food.

I don't know if they had other things as well. A friend had invited me to dinner in her timeshare and I didn't want to arrive empty-handed. I knew she was gluten free so I was looking for some dessert options."

August 2015-
A gluten-free version of the Kitchen Sink is offered at Beaches & Cream.

Milk substitutes at The Beach Club Marketplace and Club Level Lounges
BC Marketplace- Soy milk is available. Almond and Coconut milk have not been seen there (Aug 2015)
Lounges- hope to get reports about what is available from recent guests.

They will sell both scrambled eggs and bacon as separate side items and I think it was only $3 for each serving. They also serve oatmeal for breakfast. There are a lot of grocery items in the Marketplace to serve the villas units and you might find some items there. And there are toasters and a microwave available for use. Disposable bowls are also available if you want to buy milk and bring gluten free cereal from home.

We always ate at least one breakfast at Captain's Grille which will prepare gluten free food for you. I love the gluten free Mickey waffles.
