I changed the second half of our split stay - we are now doing 6 nights at BCV followed by another 6 nights at BLT next June. It feels so far away and I cannot wait! Staying at BCV is a surprise for my kids. They know we will be staying at a different resort before heading back to BLT, but they don't know which one. After watching some YouTube videos about the different resorts both of my kids have decided that they hope our first resort is....Beach Club! I'm glad, because I was worried seeing the animals at AKL would sway them, but they saw footage of Stormalong Bay and fell in love.

The whole trip will actually be a surprise, as they think we are not returning until June 2017. The fact that it does not seem suspicious at all to them that I would be actively planning a trip that is almost 2 years away speaks to the depth of my obsession.

I actually booked us at the Poly first as I never imagined the kids (all boys 10 and under) would want to be off the monorail but man did they disagree! It was a unanimous decision between the three of them (hello lightening in a bottle) to stay at BC and they all had solid points, which included:
1.) they did not get enough arcade time there this summer
2.) walkability to Boardwalk Bakery (middle DS loves those Mickey-shaped muffins)
3.) SAB
4.) proximity to Epcot

So there you have it! We'll also be returning in 300ish days!

One my students threw away a big plateful of paint and it somehow bounced back and splashed all over the wall above the garbage can in my classroom. I didn't notice until after the class left, so I called the student back to clean it. My instructions: "You need to wipe all this off before it dries, but that spot right there is a perfect mickey mouse head, so you can leave it. It makes me happy." The 11th grader cleaned it perfectly, being extra careful not to disturb the Mickey.

That's what I prefer to do.

It will save time in the long run if you end up going directly to a room and discover the room has one of the smaller balconies and then have to go down to the front desk anyway. Your best bet to discuss the available options is to talk to someone when you check in. If there is not a room available with a full balcony when you check in, they will be able to tell you if one will open up the next day, if you are willing to move.

We also prefer to speak with someone directly at time of check in to discuss our requests that already are on the reservation. Seem to usually be more successful that way!

I see hidden Mickeys everywhere! Sometimes I even arrange bowls in the sink into a hidden Mickey, just to see if anyone else notices.

I have a question about freezers. I know the room fridges don't have them, but is there one at bell services? My concern is that we will be traveling with my daughter's medication which must be kept cold. So, we will need to freeze the travel ice pack before we depart. If I take it to bell services the day before, will they freeze it for me?

The two biggest sticking points for me are
1) no guarantee of a day bed
2) quick service is pretty meh vs Captain Cooks

But the idea of sitting at Hurricane Hannah's while the kids are in SB after an Epcot day is enticing. Would love to see Teena again too

We just had this debate at our house. BC won out. We have five and we were able to get a daybed this past August, even though they'd first assigned us a room without one the staff was super nice (and quick!) about getting us into a different room to better accommodate us.

Am so excited, now booked for 8 nights in 2016, 27 November - 3 December, at the YC in a lagoon view CL room. My first ever CL stay was at the YC in 2006 so it's a long time since I've stayed there, looking forward to returning and hoping the refurb will be completed by then.

I am SO VERY EXCITED to share that, thanks to the 2016 military rates being released yesterday, I was able to upgrade my resort for next year's solo trip! I will be staying in a Garden view room at THE BEACH CLUB, October 22-28, 2016! YAY!!! Would love to be added to this thread's "Be Our Guest" list!

Pinkgirl - I'd go with Walmart, too. In January, we're having a car service take us to US. A grocery trip is included, so I'll probably buy what we need for our stay at AKV then. It's a bit of a pain to drag it to US and then to AKV, but we're just getting water and maybe some sodas (I'm unpopular mommy in that we never have them in the house, so I usually relent when we're on vacation). We used Garden Grocer a few years back and we got everything we ordered and it was delivered promptly with no problems. But honestly, we spent more going that route than if we'd simply taken a cab and gone to a grocery or walmart.

Oh, and I can't remember if I reported back on my uber experience or not. I used it to meet my boss for dinner when I was in Pittsburgh for work. I was picked up within a minute of requesting a ride. The driver was very nice. We chatted about why he'd become an uber driver. He said their rates had dropped a bit recently because they were competing with lyft. I think the total was just under $13 for a drive that took about 25 minutes. I don't use cabs that often, so I don't know if that's good or not. I used the RIDIN30 code and got $30 credit, so that ride didn't even cost me anything. They have referrals, too, according to an email I got. If you refer someone, you get $20 credit and so does the person getting the referral. I might see if I can refer my husband and that way we'll have plenty of credit for our January trip. We only take cabs for DTD at this point, because the buses are just painfully slow.

If anyone has good or bad experiences with a car service, could you let me know? We need one for the trip from MCO to US and then from US to AKV. We'll take the tragical depress from AKV to the airport. We've always used Happy Limo and they've been fine, for the most part. Although when we stayed at YC in 2014, they didn't bring the car I requested, but a stretch Hummer. It was honestly embarrassing to drive around in that thing. My oldest daughter was mortified. It got us to the hotel, so I can't complain that the vehicle was ridiculously oversized. Our last trip, though, the driver was commenting on how old the car was we were in and how little the drivers get from the company (he said $10 per ride). While I don't know that it was especially business-like to complain about the rate structure, I'll give him a pass on that one). The car was pretty beaten up, though. I've heard good and bad things about Tiffany Town Car. We need a larger vehicle since there are six of us.

I'm hearing really great things about Uber. A friend just got charged $70 by Mears for Coronado to Universal!!!! She's now downloaded the Uber app.

... Remember when we were kids and we would get into our Mom's make up and perfume? I still remember the beating I got for wasting a half a tiny bottle of Chanel number 5 on my kindergarten age butt ...

The Avon Lady (and whither we went, she surely followed) saved me. She was very generous with her samples - my dresser was never bare of 'real' makeups and perfumes all my very own. So, my mother's for-special-occasions bottles and jars (I remember Wind Song and Fabergé and Arpège) weren't the fatal attractions that they could have been. I slathered on To A Wild Rose and never knew the difference. And that, now that I think of it, probably explains my grown-up Ciara and Cover Girl ...

I did, though, occasionally wear Chanel N°5. My husband loved it.

When you're a kid MORE perfume is better... Right???

Getting around...

We have used Ed Korgan Travel for 4 trips to Universal (to and from MCO) and also between Universal and Disney. It is around $45 for each of those legs (MCO to or from US) and $45 between Disney and US. We have never done a grocery stop but it has been offered to us. I have heard mostly good reviews about Tiffany Town Car.

Me and my monkeys used UBER quite a bit on recent adventure. We all kept referring each other and got free rides. I will be referring my husband for an upcoming trip to Washington DC. All of our rides were great, except for one. But we survived it (barely). You'll have to read all about that...
