Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Teena, hope you can post some pictures of your cruise. I love traveling vicarously through your vacations on the Disney cruise line. Can't wait until we can do it again.

Dee,

How long is your trip? DH and I are headed to WDW on Thursday. If your group will still be there, I'll keep an eye out for you!

(No YC this trip. We are trying out CSR for the first time.)

Thursday is our last park day. My group will be starting at Animal Kingdom in the morning, hopping over to HS around lunchtime (FP for ToT, RnR, Star Tours), resort break at ASMo and then we plan to hit MK until 1 am.

Hope to see you around!

:woohoo:

I have been doing some research as I have a new sensitivity/minor allergy to milk and eggs. Breakfast is giving me the biggest headache! Anyway, I found a Disney Food Blog post that showed the BC Marketplace has a hanging spiral book on the side of their bakery case with all the ingredients for each item. I'm really hoping this will still be there on our trip! The only thing I haven't been able to find is if WDW uses eggs or milk in their pancakes and waffles...still searching for that answer.

I have that blog entry linked to the Dining Post (#7) on Page 1. It was from awhile ago, I too hope the booklet is still there.

Please let us know what you find out about the pancakes and waffles.

:)

I can not believe you have never been in Fittings and Fairings.... I love this store. So quite but whatever type of clothing you need they have. DH on one trip forgot a decent shirt and we got one there. I forgot a swimsuit once and thye have multiple selections....

Anyway Dee...I have been working a ton of extra review classes, and tutoring in preparations for exams... so we are doing one last trip to WDW for a while & we are not renewing our AP's :(

So we are staying at the BC 6/29-7/5. Our AP's expire on the 7/4! Likely we are staying SV but we may swing CL but it is so expensive for the 2 of us! Just happy for one last trip for at least 18 months....

:welcome: back, my friend.

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Thank you for the welcome! :wave2: We'll be at the Beach Club from September 13th -21st. Thanks in advance for adding us to the Be Our Guest list! :goodvibes

I haven't been on the boards in awhile. (I'm still trying to get used to the new format.) I'm really looking forward to getting back into some serious planning.

Thanks for the info on the refurb. I'll be sure to keep checking out the first page for updates. :)

Got it. I'm going to indicate your stay is at the villas- correct me if I am wrong.

:cool1:

We will begin our YC stay in 3 days! I have a confession. I am upgrading my 7 day park hopper to an AP. I'm doing this for my daughters, too.

Anyway, a friend of mine has a conference at CSR at the end of June. The room is payed for by her company, and she invited me to come along. The room is free and the AP covers the tickets. How could I say no? The plane tickets were $59 each way. Well, I am going! I feel almost guilty...

:thumbsup2

I'm so excited to be staying at the Beach Club 11/19 - 11/26. I've been to CSR a couple of time for work (conference) and a couple of years ago we took the kids. Along with past stays at Animal Kingdom Savanna View and The Contemporary, they love CSR. This year we went to book FD at CSR and they were sold out so our only option was Boardwalk. After we booked BWI a week later CSR opened so we switched, but it was too late. I had been looking at the boardwalk area and loved the idea of walking to Epcot, HS, and SAB looked really cool. So we discussed it as a family and should Beach Club open up we were going to change. Last weekend sure enough there was FD again at Beach Club so we changed again. I feel like we're cheating on CSR a bit but I'm super excited to be able to walk over to Epcot.

So now I can't stop thinking about it and created a great spreadsheet/schedule and have all our ADRs set up. There is no way I'm going to be able to wait 166 days. We even have a Black Hills and a Grand Canyon Rim to Rim vacation between now and then to look forward to. Does anyone have any advice on how I can be productive between now and then and not spend 95% of my time thinking about the Beach Club?

BTW I find this site (and this thread in particular) very informative and everyone so helpful. Thank you all.

:welcome:

So glad you are finally staying at the resort!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool2:

Glad you are finding this thread helpful and please let us know if you have any questions.

All caught up!!!

I am going to update the Be Our Guest list and then I am going off duty until Saturday.

I'll try to pop in once and awhile if I have a break, but if this trip is anything like the last one, I am pretty much on the go from 4:30 am to after midnight.

I fell asleep reading my phone last time.

:goodvibes:

Dee have a safe trip tomorrow and a wonderful time.

Dee - can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Dee, safe travels tomorrow! It will be a trip you won't forget! Our kids did the Careers in Marine Biokogy Y.E.S. Class a few years ago. It was very interesting! I think we've done the Energy and Motion one also.

Safe travels Dee and don't forget that coffee machine. I'm sure your roomate will appreciate it too!
Katesdad

Have a great trip Dee! I would love to hear about your experiences with the YES program. Have considered taking my Girl Scouts to do them, but it's never worked out before.

Safe travels Dee! I am Washington DC bound tomorrow with Sofie's 8th grade class. I wish it was WDW instead but they did throw a Sox-Orioles game in for the second night so how can I complain about that!

Have an awesome time!!

Jay

I think I have a post in "Other Useful Information" about suggested products that smell like the beach club. You are even quoted in it!

What is that awesome smell at the Beach Club?

The scent generator may be purchased at Enviroscent/ www.scentairhome.com
The scent used is green clover and aloe
note: some recent reports indicate that the companies have not been accomodating to non-business customers. The unit is quite expensive (around $300 plus cost of cartridges)

Redneck scent solutions- if you can't afford the scentair system, there are reports that certain fragrances at Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle are good matches. Unfortunately, some of these lines have been discontinued:

BBW: Rainkissed Leaves,
Yankee Candle: Exotic Rainforest, Oceanside Retreat, Cotton Blossom

This a blog entry from Disney dining website mentioning a place to order a Yacht & Beach Club lobby-scented candle Top Ten Disney Smells

"As much as I love the smell of the Polynesian, the scent in the Yacht & Beach Club lobby is my absolute favorite. It is mellow and relaxing, and I’ve even found a source to have it at home: https://www.etsy.com/listing/178305193/yacht-and-beach-club-8oz-soy-candle?ref=listing-6 This one is hard for me to describe too, so in the words of the candlemaker: Fresh green notes accented with white jasmine, blond woods and musk. And the candle is spot on with the scent of the lobby."

- be on the lookout, but Erika says this item has been discontinued. Here is the website to order directly from Method: Method but again, this item was listed as "Out of Stock" recently.

Please let us know if you have found other good substitutions.

:thumbsup2

I read on here that Bath and Body Works scent aqua blossom was a good match. It is currently $3.00 from the website, and only available in foaming or hand soap. I already ordered it, and wish I had picked up rainkissed leaves.

Thanks!

I actually have kind-of reviews of the Energy and Waves program at MK and the Imagineering program at HS in my 2012 report: 145 Middle Schooler- Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail?

I will be doing a report including a review of the programs we do this year (if I get to go to both).

With all of you talking about that incredible coffee machine, and the other bennies of the Club Level, I tried re-pricing out trip this fall to see if it was close to what we are already booked for.

Currently, we have a GV at BC, and Deluxe Dining (mainly so we can do several of the Signature Restaurants that we've never done before!). I figured that between the F&W Festival, and the Club "snacks," we could squeak by without missing all those TS meals.

Unfortunately, even with scaling back our Dining Plan to the regular DDP, upgrading to the Club Level would be an additional $800, even for the SV....o_O

Wish it were possible, but I just don't think it's in the cards for us...even if the "Fall Discounts" come through....:sad2: Rats!!

Someday we'll do that!!!:D

A little over a week until our trip to the World! and I so love reading this thread to get ideas, and confirm plans! It must be the nature of the planning beast that I have to question some of my choices! We've done the Dining Plan on and off over some of our trips - this year after looking over our adr's I decided not to get the Dining Plan... I was figuring with some of the adr's we'll just have appetizers (For instance, dd loves LeCellier's Cheese soup, but the other items do not appeal to her - so I did a 1:30 adr )

but now I want to go over everything again - factor in snacks!

and I can almost smell the smells of the Beach Club.. and I'm going to get a Sunken Treasure and Welsh Dragon to compare ;) (Welsh Dragons are at Rose and Crown, they used to come in a Souvenir cup for a bit more $ its just orange juice, pineapple juice, peach schnapps, melon liquor, and the weird color comes from a bit of creame de menthe - that I cannot taste!) ec8b28231a0f65b671d85b8616a3f08a.jpg you can get it without the $cup... Must bring a mug to smuggle it back to the beach club! ;)

Gosh I'm tired just reading that never mind factoring in an angelic ( I'm sure) bunch of teens lol

I don't know if this will make enough difference for you or not but here's something to consider... Before we started staying CL (years ago), we did the DDP. Then we discovered the signature restaurants and upped it to deluxe DDP. However, with CL, you no longer need all those appetizers, snacks, desserts, soda, or even wine/beer. In fact, it's so much food, sometimes you barely even want dinner! In fact, the biggest mistake we ever made was having the deluxe DDP with CL. I thought we were going to explode - lol! As many have said before, CL doesn't work for everyone....like if you want a full breakfast every morning, etc. But for us, it's great because DH and I have a place to hang out while the DDs are sleeping. And I think we usually end up spending about $150 on average for the signatures (Chef Mickey's and GG will cost you more than that and they're not signatures). DD11 was allowed to order from the kids menu at both Cali Grill and Narcoossee's last week...although I don't know how long that will last. You can't forget to include a food budget in the cost if you don't have DDP, but you might see if that would get it closer to the same as a regular room with deluxe DDP. I think it might. By the way, the room we stayed in last year is now in the CL lounge. Funny that it was my favorite spot to hang out in:)image.jpg

Dee, have a great trip. Best of luck chaperoning!! You are my hero, girl!
