Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

You'll have to do better than that Ninja Mom, to take my mind off of carrot cake cookies.
What?!! Now I want a carrot cake cookie...actually, I will be on a mission during my next trip to eat an eclair at boardwalk bakery, les halles boulangerie-patisserie, and starring rolls cafe. I mean it's a reasonable life's goal.

Staying at the yacht club in September and booked a garden view room. How do I request a good view? Would like to be close to lobby too. Is this possible? overall the view is more important. Do I need to upgrade if possible to a different level? I know requests are never guaranteed . Any advice. Obvious I've never stayed here. Thanks

Request the gazebo view, and that will put you near the lobby. The view is beautiful.

Thanks! How/when should I do it? Do I just call the reservation line or hotel direct? How far in advance should I do that request.

Call the main reservation line and have the request added to your reservation. This can be done any time from the day you book up until 5-6 days prior to your arrival.

Ok, so our plan for this year is to go completely rogue. Tell me we're not crazy...

We always spend our trips running, running, running, on an agenda. We had a tough year and just need some time together. It's just my husband and me...haven't been blessed with kiddos yet. Our plan (and the main reason we chose BC) is to chill! We have been blessed to have been to WDW almost every year since 2007, so we're not worried about seeing it all. Last year we also dealt with horrible heat and humidity and both just felt sick the whole time. So...our plan is to stay at the resort and swim, relax, etc...all day until probably 5:00 or 6:00 and then only go to the parks at night. Now, I know this will need some tweaking (especially for our AK day,) but I'm sort of excited about going to WDW and RELAXING :yay:

This is us. We started off taking our kids. Then our grandson. And now it is just us.

What we do depends on length of stay. On a 5 day or more stay we will do rope drop a day or so but sleep in most. When I say sleep in I'm talking 7:30 - 9:00. Fastpass plus has helped this tremendously. We will make our Fastpasses for later in the morning or the evening. And SAB, The Boardwalk and EPCOT are always there for the anytime time. Many times the wife will be in the room relaxing and I will walk over for Illuminations.

Also gone are the days of 'must do park' because of must do ADR's. We still make ADR's but it is much more of a change on the fly scenario. "See if anything is available at _________________." and go as we feel. There is so many CS meals that we enjoy it and dining no longer guides our day.

And when you start to slow down in the parks is when you can really start to pay attention to detail. It really is a different and great experience.

Actually, that sounds amazingly wonderful. I think you chose the perfect resort to do this since you'll also have the boardwalk to cruise. Plus, I love dipping into epcot whenever we want. I love your idea. Are you going to make any ADRs or just wing meals too?

Thanks! We made our FP + last night and didn't have much trouble figuring out how this plan will look. Like I said, we really aren't concerned about riding everything. We are going to arrive and get settled and then do MK our first night (Sunday.) Then we'll do DHS Monday night (the only night EMH of our trip- I miss the days of having one almost every night :( ) Then we'll do Tuesday morning at AK, go back and swim and then prob DTD or back to MK at night. We have FP then for EPCOT on Wed night, but like you said, we'll be able to pop over there throughout our stay. Just gotta make sure we get on Soarin.

As for ADRs, it's still being debated. Every summer we make a couple and then we end up canceling because it's hot and we don't feel like eating a big meal. We are more mini meals throughout the day sort of people anyway ( I mean, last night I had an English muffin and a banana for dinner and my husband had cereal, haha!) Our anniversary is our first night, so we might do one that day. We're still thinking ( and open to suggestions!)

Dee - safe trip!

Scary day for us. Ds was pitching and got hit in the head with a line drive. Spent all afternoon in ER.
He has a concussion, so no sports, no exams, not much of anything for the next few weeks, but it could
have been a lot worse.

Very scary but glad to hear he's okay.

When my son was 8 he tried to catch a pop up in the outfield. He didn't get right under it and it hit him right in the face. He broke his nose which had to be repaired with surgery and stitches on his nose. He had two black eyes for weeks. He was more traumatized that he had to miss the last day of school which included an ice cream sundae party.

I hope he feels a better soon!
