Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

page 544

I am so pleased that I became a Yacht Club snob. I would have been devastated if we were staying at French Quarter, now that they have announced the food court refurb during our stay.

We're glad to have you here too! Especially after we all used our noodle to "attend" your wedding.

Can I be added to the be our guest list? I've finally stopped adding days to our trip. We'll be there 9/10-9/21, club level for the first time ever. Woohoo!

Sure thing!

Which resort? BC or YC?

:cool1:

We are thinking of booking a 10 day trip at Beach Club for end of next August 2017. We are going back and forth between lagoon view and garden view. I don't want to spend the extra money on lagoon view if we don't get a full balcony. Can anybody respond with their experiences with this? Also, our last trip we had a king bed with pull out sofa, do any of the rooms at BC have this option?

:welcome:

Let us know if you book and I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I don't necessarily think there are more full balconies in the waterview category than the other categories. But since we don't really have a decent map that shows room views, that is only a guess on my part. There are some rooms with king beds and either a pull out sofa or a chair, but there are very few rooms with this configuration.

Request should be "Full balcony, please. King bed if possible"

:thumbsup2

Thank you Wood Nymph. I had no idea there was an elevator there. I think we'd be ok with a room near the quiet pool. We booked a standard room too (water view is great, but not something I'm willing to pay for). Only choices on room requests were: ground floor, lower floor, upper floor, near elevator and balcony. I just put down elevator - is there any way to add 'near lobby' (other than calling / faxing requests)? A room near Marketplace would be great to fill up our mugs:-)

I think calling is the best way to indicate you would like a room near the lobby.

::yes::

Dee, can you add me to the BOG list from Jan 16-24, BCV? We haven't stayed at the Beach Club for ages (before there were club rooms or DVC villas), and this will be our first stay at BCV. Very excited!

This is technically a split-stay, as 5 nights are on points, then 3 nights cash. Both bookings are BCV 1-bedroom, so I'm thinking we'll be able to stay put, but if anyone has advice on how to ensure that, I'm all ears. I think it's pretty easy if you book both segments via WDW or both via DVC member services, but not sure how the mixed booking works.

:welcome:

Sure thing!

Hmmm... not sure, can you call in and have the reservations "linked" or at least add the request that you stay in the same room. I don't think it would be difficult for the room assigners to accomplish this for you.

:goodvibes

When I made my reservation over the phone I requested King bed and full balcony. King bed is our absolute must have and we listed it first. If I do online check in and select full balcony, will that erase my requests I made over the phone? Should I leave the requests blank? Want to insure we have the best possible chance for a King bed.

Good question. I'm not sure, but I probably wouldn't risk it. I would leave the requests blank when doing the online checkin just in case.

Water Parks Transportation

Can we uber from BC to water park? I think the closest water park to BC is Blizzard Beach, if I remember correctly. There is no way I am taking 2 buses there and back to go to a water park for a few hours. Anyone the closest water park and how much the uber costs approx.?

What we have done a couple of years is to go to Blizzard Beach in the afternoon after a half-day at Animal Kingdom. We could just get on any resort bus and it would stop at BB first.

The biggest issue with this plan is that we would encounter afternoon thunderstorms that would closedown the attractions for awhile.

In October we took Uber from BB back to the Beach Club because I had heard it took a loooong time to get back to the hotel. We used Uber so much that trip and when and we did have to pay ( lots of free rides) it was totally worth it!!

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Just what I wanted to do, returning to resort wet, transferring to another bus at DS to get back to resort. Ugh. And take twice as long to get back. Double ugh! Haha

I hear you on that!

My only piece of advice... consider changing into dry clothes before starting your journey ;)

Amazon Prime Now

I am attaching a link to a thread that I participated in earlier this week. Apparently Amazon has launched a delivery service like Garden Grocer- your order is delivered to the resort (bell services) by a driver, not by mail to the convention center.

According the OP on the thread, there was confusion at the resort resulting in a delay in finding the order.

But I thought I would give you all a heads up in case this was something you wanted to try.

I'll add this info to the Grocery Delivery/How do I get a case of water post on Page 1.

ETA: Here is the link to the service. Just looking at the front page it says they deliver in 2 hours, there is a $10 savings offer for the first order. Must be an Amazon Prime member.

Would love to hear comments if anyone tries this service.

On our trip this past Oct, while returning from Disney Springs, we also stopped at BB. A family got on the bus literally dripping soaking wet. Did not bother to put towels down to sit on or anything. When they got off the bus there was a big puddle on the floor and no one could sit on the seats because they were so wet.

Anyone have any photos of the 2-bedroom club level suite? We are thinking of booking it for May but I keep searching and finding nothing but photos of 2-bedroom villas. Thanks!!

I found some nice pictures of the refurbished Newport Suite here. It looks gorgeous!

ETA: But perhaps this is a fancier suite than "standard" 2-bedroom suites?

Yay!

I'm starting to panic because I have so much to do/buy in the next week to get ready! I'm usually more prepared but I haven't even made my packing list yet!

Me, either. Ours is a short trip (just three days), so packing should be quicker than usual. And since it will be hotter than the face of the sun, I don't need to worry about jackets or jeans or layers.

This is my first 4th of July trip to WDW, and I can't wait for the fireworks. This is also a surprise trip for my DDs. Just last week, my 4 yo made a wish, and I heard her quietly say, "I wish to go to Disney World," so I know they are going to be thrilled. The next eight days can't go fast enough!

Awwww how sweet! A surprise trip would be so much fun but I don't know if I could keep that kind of a secret! We're staying 11 nights (longest vacation I've ever had!) and I'm having a hard time coming up with clothes for that many days. We like different clothes for dinner after being in the parks so that's a lot of outfits....I REALLY don't want to do laundry on vacation so I may just have to go buy some new clothes :rolleyes1

Last year, they did a 4th of July beach party and some other special activities at the pool. We didn't get a chance to participate so I'm hoping they do that again this year!

While we were there we happened to chat with a family of 5 who booked a BCV studio through rented points from a friend and apparently one of the kids was dropped from the reservation...they were checking in that day. This was the first year their youngest was old enough to be counted they were supposing. They were having difficulty getting the fifth person added. They had their friend talk to DVC, they had talked to front desk, etc. if I remember correctly you weren't checking in until after the first of the year so hopefully the occupancy will change by then.

Thank you! The more I've thought about it the more it makes sense that they wouldn't update occupancy until all the rooms are done. Trying to manage to ensure a refurb room is available for any party of 5 when not all rooms can accommodate that would make it a booking nightmare. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the refurbs finish on time which gives us ample time to modify the reservation.

I have been lurking on the DVC member website for availabilities at BCV, and noticed today that the updated occupancy is up to 5 for the BCV studio's. My guess is that if you update the reservation with that number you would have priority for refurbished room.

I am a BCV owner too, however the availability screen is showing occupancy up to 5...

Thanks! That's encouraging news. The person I worked with at the place we rented our points said she would keep an eye out for any changes to occupancy and let me know when things changed, so hopefully that's a good sign that we can update soon.
