Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I mentioned earlier we are hoping to include my son in our stay at the BCV studio when we travel in January. I did chat online with someone on the Disney website and asked about the occupancy changing to 5 with the refurb of the villas. I was just told that at this time they are still saying occupancy is limited to 4.
I have been lurking on the DVC member website for availabilities at BCV, and noticed today that the updated occupancy is up to 5 for the BCV studio's. My guess is that if you update the reservation with that number you would have priority for refurbished room.

I did my Beach Club online check in today :-)
I would like to be only a few minutes away from the lobby / marketplace. I was thinking that if I requested 'near elevator' that would make sense as the elevators (4 if I remember correctly) are between lobby and marketplace. Can anyone tell me if there are elevators anywhere else in the BC resort? We've stayed there a few times but don't remember seeing any other elevators. Sorry if this is already posted somewhere- there is so much great information on this site but I might have missed it. TIA
There is an elevator near the BC quiet pool.

We had a room that was two doors away from the Marketplace and that was a great location. I'm thinking of requesting a room near the Marketplace for our next trip. We have booked a standard room so we most likely will have a third or fourth floor room overlooking the huge flat roof, but it doesn't hurt to ask. ;)

I am a DVC BCV owner. DVC chat just told me this is not yet the case.

We are thinking of booking a 10 day trip at Beach Club for end of next August 2017. We are going back and forth between lagoon view and garden view. I don't want to spend the extra money on lagoon view if we don't get a full balcony. Can anybody respond with their experiences with this? Also, our last trip we had a king bed with pull out sofa, do any of the rooms at BC have this option?

Thank you Wood Nymph. I had no idea there was an elevator there. I think we'd be ok with a room near the quiet pool. We booked a standard room too (water view is great, but not something I'm willing to pay for). Only choices on room requests were: ground floor, lower floor, upper floor, near elevator and balcony. I just put down elevator - is there any way to add 'near lobby' (other than calling / faxing requests)? A room near Marketplace would be great to fill up our mugs:-)

Dee, can you add me to the BOG list from Jan 16-24, BCV? We haven't stayed at the Beach Club for ages (before there were club rooms or DVC villas), and this will be our first stay at BCV. Very excited!

This is technically a split-stay, as 5 nights are on points, then 3 nights cash. Both bookings are BCV 1-bedroom, so I'm thinking we'll be able to stay put, but if anyone has advice on how to ensure that, I'm all ears. I think it's pretty easy if you book both segments via WDW or both via DVC member services, but not sure how the mixed booking works.

I am a BCV owner too, however the availability screen is showing occupancy up to 5...

When I made my reservation over the phone I requested King bed and full balcony. King bed is our absolute must have and we listed it first. If I do online check in and select full balcony, will that erase my requests I made over the phone? Should I leave the requests blank? Want to insure we have the best possible chance for a King bed.

Can we uber from BC to water park? I think the closest water park to BC is Blizzard Beach, if I remember correctly. There is no way I am taking 2 buses there and back to go to a water park for a few hours. Anyone the closest water park and how much the uber costs approx.?

New bus routes were introduced for the Walt Disney World water parks, May 29, 2016.

Guests will need to take a bus to Disney Springs to get to Typhoon Lagoon from a resort. After 1:00pm, guests will need to transfer to a different bus at Disney Springs. Before 1:00, they will remain on the same bus.

For guests traveling to Blizzard Beach, they will need to take a bus to Animal Kingdom and then transfer to a new bus there.

Does anyone know if an afternoon bus still runs from the Yacht Club and the Beach Club resorts to the FRONT of EPCOT? I believe the purpose of the bus was for transport to the waterparks in the afternoon.

This is from January. Has the sign changed or does it still report the afternoon EPCOT stop?

View attachment 177056

If someone who is at the resort now or soon could find out and report back, I would appreciate it. A couple of sources of info- picture of the bus sign at the bus stop and seeing what the video bus boards list.

Thanks!

:goodvibes
Thanks for the info. Just what I wanted to do, returning to resort wet, transferring to another bus at DS to get back to resort. Ugh. And take twice as long to get back. Double ugh! Haha

It's official, booked both our trips yesterday!! This will be the first time that we are going sans Dining Plan, I'm a little nervous but think we will
come out ahead. I plan on buy APs :yay:and getting the TIW card so I'm thinking we will be ok. Now that our daughter will be considered a Disney Adult the price is just too much, plus her and I can share meals.

Do I have everything posted correctly on the BOG?

We ditched the dining plan for the last couple of trips, with no regrets. Much more freedom to order (or not order) what we want. Disney portions are so large that we find ourselves sharing, either entrees or desserts without going hungry!

::yes::

We will be celebrating two events DS's 18th birthday and our 25th Wedding Anniversary 15th October 2017-27th October 2017.. Anyone have any ideas how to celebrate the 18th birthday doing something new?

Although I have never done any of these things, I think my (almost) 18 year old son would enjoy one of the excursions out of the YC marina- fishing, or sea racer rental or maybe even a celebratory Illuminations cruise.

Does he have a favorite park? A behind the scenes tour. The age limit may be 18 (or maybe 16) for some of them, so that would be a new treat.

Anyone else have some suggestions?

party:

Does this mean we can still play volleyball? We're doing a split stay at CB and YC, and from what I hear the volleyball at CB is not accessible. DH wanted a beach vacation and the kids wanted Disney, and this was our compromise. Better safe than sorry though...

When is your trip?

:cool2:

The volleyball court remains open. They use it for lawn games starting at 5pm but it would be open the rest of the day. The movie on the beach is now set up next to the volleyball court, in the grass. The screen is portable so it isn't a permanent set up. You will have a lot of sand for the kids to play in at Storm Along Bay. The kids pool area is all sand, including a sandy bottom. :)

Play ball? As Wood Nymph says, the volleyball court should be available since it is only being used at limited times for lawn games and movie viewing. That being said, I have NEVER seen anyone playing there! Where do you get the ball? Ditto on the paddles and ping pong balls for the tables. From the recreation office at SAB- former Poolside gifts- former D*le Wh*p stand???

If anyone know, please share the info.

I want to book the Beach Club Villas for the spring. Are they normally included in the discounts that come out later in the year?

:welcome:

Not sure of the answer because I don't stay at the villas, except to say that Disney typically offers discounts when they need to fill rooms. BCV is typically pretty close to fully occupied at most times of the year. But hopefully others will chime in to share what they know about the discount history at the villas. There is also a thread in the Resorts/Discount subforum with historical discounts offered by Disney. Not sure if the villas are included in that discussion.

:goodvibes

We are at 101 days out today, so of course it's 101 Dalmatians movie night! :)

What a great idea!

pluto:

Can't wait for our vacation there soon! Coming to stay at BC on July 13th for several days! Celebrating a daughter's birthday there as well !! It will be our first time at BC !

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

These are current pictures (June 2016) of the marketplace menus.

Thanks, again!

:cheer2:

They start 8 AM for most days and at 7:30 AM for EMH days and they run until 1 hour after park close. If you are heading from the BC to DHS, the boat stops at the Swan / Dolphin on the way to HS. It generally takes about 20 minutes by boat from BC/YC to DHS.

Note: The Friendships will not run if lightning is in the area.
Note: Edit to correct the resort sequence for DHS.

Dave

I don't think I have given you a :welcome: to the thread yet.

Thanks so much for the info!

Anyone have any photos of the 2-bedroom club level suite? We are thinking of booking it for May but I keep searching and finding nothing but photos of 2-bedroom villas. Thanks!!

:welcome:

I don't think we have seen pictures of the 2BR Suite since the refurb. Here is a link from the thread with pictures of the deluxe rooms and suites at the resort from previous guests.

Hi there:flower3: we did the Behind the Seeds tour two trips back and last year we rented the Sea Raycers which would have been relaxing if DS had not dashed off like a loon. And for himself into trouble with the boat patrol despite us telling him to stick with us and not go tearing off!! Anyone else going by must have thought we lost the plot screaming at him to get himself back at once or lose his privileges! Honestly boys are hard work. DS loves Epcot( one reason we booked the hotel was its park proximity) and he likes AK too and some of MK. He likes the main things at DHS but understands it's currently having new attractions built. We did the Escape to Walt's Wilderness Tour last summer and enjoyed that it was a great way to see the parks from a different point of view and all the wildlife we saw really makes you think about the environment. The archery section of the day was amazing DS scored highly on his accuracy, me not so much due to health issues but it was fun. We are going to try mini golf next year, we keep meaning to get there but in 10 trips we have failed to do so. At some point we will be going to the dark side for a couple of days where he can ride their coasters if he wants to with his Dad. Having looked at this year's prices for MNSSHP I'm not sure if we will do any of those nights which we enjoyed back in 2009. A fishing excursion does sound fun I might have to look into that further before I ask the "men folk". Ten pin bowling might be good too, darn it I keep forgetting Disney Springs now has so much to do and try. Off to read the dining reviews :thanks:

I did chat online with someone on the Disney website and asked about the occupancy changing to 5 with the refurb of the villas. I was just told that at this time they are still saying occupancy is limited to 4. I also checked with the company through whom we rented points and they told me the same. Am I wrong in thinking that they intend to change the studios to an occupancy of 5 once the refurbs are done? That's what they did at BWV isn't it? I realize only some of the studios are completed with the murphy beds, so I'm wondering if anyone has stayed in one yet with 5 people or if I just need to be patient and wait to check again on occupancy after all the refurbs are completed to see if they update that availability. Patience is not one of my virtues. :)
While we were there we happened to chat with a family of 5 who booked a BCV studio through rented points from a friend and apparently one of the kids was dropped from the reservation...they were checking in that day. This was the first year their youngest was old enough to be counted they were supposing. They were having difficulty getting the fifth person added. They had their friend talk to DVC, they had talked to front desk, etc. if I remember correctly you weren't checking in until after the first of the year so hopefully the occupancy will change by then.

Not sure if these tours are still operating, but there was a new EPCOT behind the scenes tour offered and of course the Segway tour, although for some reason I seem to think this one is discontinued. Bowling and mini golf are two fun ideas!!! I think Disneyquest, the giant arcade/pit of hell will be closed by the time of your trip. Luckily for you! (Not a fan) But if it is still open, your son might enjoy it.

:rolleyes1

ETA: Segway tour at EPCOT has been discontinued. There is still an "off-road" Segway tour offered at Fort Wilderness

I am thinking the Illuminations cruise could be fun. They also do one for the Magic Kingdom fireworks but you are much closer to the action with the Illuminations cruise. We just did it earlier this month (see pics a few pages back and I have lots more I didn't post). Feel free to pm if you have questions.

DD has played volleyball on the sand court many times. Usually it is the older kids playing pool volleyball who decide to leave the pool once it gets to crowded. Just ask one of the rec staff for the ball!

In October we took Uber from BB back to the Beach Club because I had heard it took a loooong time to get back to the hotel. We used Uber so much that trip and when and we did have to pay ( lots of free rides) it was totally worth it!!

Dolphins in Depth is a fabulous experience. Our kids were 21 (son) and 18 (daughter) at the time (daughter's high school graduation gift) we did it and both have placed it as the best Disney experience and we would do it again in a heartbeat. We did the Behind the Seeds tour for our son's high school graduation (he is a chemist now) because he was a total science geek. Our daughter enjoyed it as well, but Dolphins in Depth was definitely the favorite of both. My husband and I thought it was wonderful too.

I'm booked! 2/03 through 02/10 at BCV !! It will be the second part of a split stay. Happy to return to BCV. Last stay there was Feb 2001. And our last visit to DW was Feb 2015. Can't wait!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Just back from Cape May Cafe and, yes, you do get a 10% discount when using the Disney Visa.
Hey all! We are staying at the Beach Club from Aug 28-Sept 3 (1st time). We have a standard room and can do online check-in in a few days. I asked my travel agent for a room with a full balcony if possible. What do you suggest for room location requests? I prefer to be away from the elevators just because of the noise in the halls. But since we have never been before, just looking for some suggestions. Thanks! :flower1:

Thanks so much for reporting back!

BCV 2 BR:

Hi there...hoping you all can give some insight as to the status of the 2 BR villas... we are looking to book this for next Thanksgiving 2017 and I do not see any pictures at all of the 1 king bed, and 2 queen bed configurations. I see listed here that this is a member only option, yet on Disney's website it clearly states that they offer this- so not too sure if we would be able to book this or not?? Just how many rooms are there that have this set up?? Would it be too difficult for us to get?? Any and all helpful advice would be so appreciated. There will be 5 of us total all adults- my husband and I, my newly married daughter- her new husband and my youngest daughter who will be 20- she really prefers having a bed to sleep in versus pull out sleeper sofa. She has a bad back due to a spinal condition and really needs the support of a bed. Thanks for any help

:welcome: to the thread

I'll defer to others with much more knowledge about the villas to address your questions.

::yes::

I just booked a 2 BR Villa for next April and was not given an option to pick a bed configuration, FYI. I was going to call in a request when we got closer to our trip and see if I could get it then. If it helps, I did read that the mattress in the sleeper sofas in the refurb'd rooms (the refurb is supposed to be done this summer I think?) are good mattresses.

:welcome:

Thanks so much for the info!

BCV? Shall I add you to the Be Our Guest list for April?

:thumbsup2

When DVC members book a 2 BR at BCV, we have to choose:
a) 2-Bedroom villa - 2 Queen-size Beds (the second bedroom has 2 queen size beds)
b) 2-Bedroom villa (the second bedroom has 1 queen size bed and 1 queen size sleeper sofa)
c) 2-Bedroom Lock-Off Villa (the second bedroom is a studio so it has 1 queen size bed and 1 double size sleeper sofa) (it is a "lock-off" because Disney and DVC can book this as a two-bedroom or separately as a one-bedroom and a studio)

The first bedroom for all of these has a king size bed. The living room for all of these has a queen size sleeper sofa.

These are different booking categories for DVC members. They are not requests, the way people might put in a request for "close to the elevator" or "higher floor."

There are not a lot of the ones with 2 queen size beds in the second bedroom. They are very popular. While technically you might be able to book them as a cash reservation through Disney's Central Reservations Office, it is more likely that DVC members will have booked them all.

I'm not sure exactly how DVC villas at BCV become available for booking through CRO. DVC members whose home resort is BCV can book BCV at 11 months out. DVC members whose home resort is not BCV can book BCV at 7 months out.

Thank you!!!

:goodvibes
