Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I was working all day today, but DH was able to logon and get Soarin FP at lunchtime. I have the best husband! Of course, this is the same man who sent me an email, asking me what the 'mysterious' charge was on our Visa bill. I took a look, and it was the 'magical agency' with our BC final payment!

Now to stake out the Frozen FP....

They've taken a few things off that new promotion - I'm sure last year when I booked mine I got a $200 gift card too.

They only have Club Level rooms available for the dates I selected at YC - wonder if the standard rooms are already being held back for some sort of magical promotion...

UK travelers still get the $200 gift card (have to book by July) and free Memory Maker.

Earth Day.jpg

So, the nighttime Animal Kingdom attractions will not open on Earth Day as once initially expected, but there have been several announcements today with details about the new experiences.

I am just returning from a 4 day fun, but exhausting family trip to Washington DC and heading out soon to run errands, so I don't have time to review and post links. If someone else is so inclined, please share the info!

I hope to catch up on the past few pages of the thread later today.

Hi all. Little over 3 months until we arrive at BCV (7/30-8/4). Debating whether or not the dining plan is worth the cost. We used it the last 2 trips (2009/2011). Getting scared with the price increases and also having older children (now 16 boy and 13 girl). Both of the kids are also bringing each a friend. So 6 of us for this trip!
Dining plan total cost=$1911 which comes out to $380 per day. Can we do it on $380 a day w/o dining plan.... I plan on eating some breakfasts and lunches in our 2 bedroom villa. Listed below is what reservations I have made. Any feedback or thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Saturday 7/30: 1:15p LECellier Lunch and 920p Beaches and Cream
Sunday 7/31: 8a Chrystal Palace Breakfast, 1:15p Be Our Guest Lunch, 6:15p Hoop De Doo (paid for )
Monday 8/1: 7p Raglan Road
Tuesday 8/2: 7p Teppon Edo
Wed 8/3: 7p Hollywood Brown Derby (Husband and I only)

Fastpass questions: I can make our fastpass reservations on May 30th but trying to be strategic as possible.
I am the rope drop kind of person and will be at the parks when they open. Below is my daily itinery and any help would be great.

Saturday arrive @ 11am Arrival and Ecpot afternoon/evening
Sunday: Magic Kingdom @8am for breakfast and all day at MK, Hoop Dee Doo for dinner and back at MK for fireworks at 9p
Monday: Hollywood Studios in AM, Midday at pool hotel, Evening @ Disney Springs
Tuesday: Animal Kingdom in AM, Midday at pool hotel, Evening @ EPCOT
Wednesday: Blizzard Beach/or another park, Evening at Hollywood
Thursday: Leave early for Universal

For us (3 Disney Adults) we make out better paying out of pocket for meals over paying for the Dining Plan. We made 4 trips in a row with Free Dining and found we like to eat like the Dining Plan is set up. One QS for lunch usually and 1 TS for Dinner and some snacks throughout the day. We weren't able to get Free Dining at CBR one year so went with the Room Discount. I took what the Dining Plan would have cost us to pay for it and put that amount of $$ on 2 Disney Gift Cards. We ate what we wanted, whenever we wanted and used the Gift Cards. We also used them for Tips and adult beverages too (neither of which is covered under the Dining Plan). When our 8 night trip was over we had $275 left over on the one Gift Card. So if we would have paid for the Dining Plan we would have spent quite a bit more $$ since we would have also had to pay for tips and adult beverages.

You can look at menus and pricing on allears.net to give you an idea of what you'd spend on meals if that helps. We use dining plan when we get it free as part of an offer but I wouldn't pay for it as I think we would spend less money on food than it costs. Increasingly you all have to order the more
Expensive items on the menu to break even and frequently we prefer appetizer to dessert and wine to soft drink while on holidays ( that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ).:rolleyes1

Just because we need a bump from Page 2, I am sharing my favorite SAB "Bird Poop" Hidden Mickeys.

Make sure you check out the deck pilings around SAB for these clever HMs

I think the first one (single) is near the shallow sand pool area on the YC side of SAB.

The other one is near Hurricane Hanna's

OMG we have stayed countless times a the resort and had never seen these. Totally going to check them out when we are there in June!

I decided to add the year to our MBs, too, so I know how old they are. :) And I'll be getting a purple band for our June trip. I don't even need another band but who can turn down purple. ;)

It is 44 days until Disney for us, although we will be at POR this time.

I have a whole bag of magic bands. I am sure the battery life is ending on some. No way of knowing except by adding a year.

Have fun at POR. I love POFQ.

Hi all! I'm at the Yacht Club right now and having a fantastic time (I love this hotel; tempted to buy into DVC... but that's another post).

Question though -- Where the heck can I buy a (soft) drink after 11pm? As far as I'm aware there are no vending machines; and the gift shop next to the lobby closes at 11pm. I find it strange that I can't find anywhere to buy bottled water and/or other drinks beyond 11pm. I can't be the only one, surely?

Suggestions would be much appreciated!

There is a 24 hour location at the Swan/Dolphin. I don't remember the name, but I am sure someone here can chime in.
I'm sure your "not the only one", but clearly the demand is not great enough to warrant a location open after 11 PM. We certainly aren't looking for soda at that time of night at Disney:love2:

Isn't the Marketplace off the BC lobby opened until midnight?

I checked the BC for June and the Marketplace is scheduled to be open until midnight. The gift shop at the YC doesn't get very much traffic, so I could see them closing early. You would be able to buy a soft drink at Ale and Compass, the bar in the YC lobby. It is open until midnight.

Good morning! Contemplating online check in and have a question after reading the terms & conditions:

It says that if you participate in online check in, you must participate in priority express check out (and further states that any charges will go to the credit card on file). Would that mean that I wouldn't be able to apply disney gift cards to any expenses incurred over our trip? Or, can we visit the front desk the evening before check out and pay off the balance in person?

Thanks in advance
